We were served mashed potatoes that were so bland and had no taste, string beans that were definitely out of a can and pasta sauce that was so pink and not red (and it wasn't vodka sauce) and tasted like jarred sauce you could buy. My parents come every Sunday and we were ordering in from the same restaurants. We started looking for something new and came across Bistro 1051. The food was delicious and their menu is huge. They offer something for everyone. I wanted sushi but no one else did, but luckily enough they have sushi on their menu so I was able to order it and it was delicious. This place is great. It is casual yet romantic. It seemed that they had a lot of big parties in the back room. I got linda's chicken, the sauce was really good. I would just say it's a tad bit salty, really good overall. If you like mushrooms, and a dark balsamic sauce, you should get it! The mashed potatoes are homemade and really a must try. I went there with a friend 2 weeks ago. Even though I had a reservation we had to wait. While on line to see the hostess several customers walked out very upset saying that they sat at their tables for 2 hours & the food never came. People on line walked out as well. When I finally got to talk to the hostess she was confused saying that she didnt know what to do. They had a full house and people with reservations waiting and people walking out. The owner wasnt any better he was frazzle and didnt know what to do. After 30 minutes of watching what was transpiring My friend & I left and went to eat somewhere else. 1st time there, I heard about this place, but wow, extremely blown away by this Lamb with a truffle risotto, it was hands down one of the best dishes I've ever had in decades. I made everyone at my table try it and yes, each completely agree this dish was off the hook. I tried the lobster risotto and yes it was up there in flavor. Definitely call for reservations, it's a BYOB and they really took care of us, put our bottles on ice, a couple of scotch glasses and we were set for a great night. For appetizers we had the Calima, the octopus, chorizo with shrimp, all very well made. I tried the seafood linguini, that was a homerun as well. By Jersey standards, the food here is certainly quite good. The service is another story. We were a party of 10 dining last week and granted, things were a bit crazy at the restaurant given the fact that an even larger group was in the dining room. But should it take and hour and getting up out of my seat to summon the waitress to get our order taken? We were seated at around 7:15pm and didn't get our food until about 9pm. I certainly can understand that the restaurant was slammed. What I cannot understand is why no apology was given, much less any compensation for having to endure the ridiculous wait for food. WHy didn't the overtanned manager grace us with his bronzed visage to offer us complimentary desert or in the very least apologize for the inferior service? Alas we left the restaurant tired and frustrated at Bistro 1051's lack of concern for its clients. Sorry, but we will go to Limani's next time. They can handle bigger groups and I know they treat their patrons better. read more

Bistro is AWESOME!!! I go there for lunch and dinner and have had holidays and parties catered there. The food is outrageous. It's an infusion restaurant where they serve sushi, seafood and Italian. If you want fresh and delicious sushi and some really creative roll choices then Bistro is the place to go. The other foods I recommend are the sandwich wraps and sweet potato fries at lunch, the dynamite calamari or shrimp appetizer, the flat bread pizza with 4 cheeses, and the crusted Tilapia. My aunt flew in from Florida and we knew she'd be in the mood for just about anything. My reasoning was why take her to a mundane Jersey diner when you could take her to a bistro. This place is like a diner on designer steroids. Something for everyone, but the something you're getting is gonna blow your average diner out of the water in quality, service, and ambiance (including the one across the street from Bistro). Started with the New Orleans crab cake, which while tasty was the most underwhelming dish of the night. Flaky yes, meaty yes, but not oh my God this crab cake is amazing. The shrimp and chorizo tapas plate however was great! Huge luscious shrimp and sliced chorizo served in a lemony, garlicky, savory broth. Do yourself a favor and save some bread to sop up all the flava! 3 separate entrees: The Bistro Chicken grilled chicken does a fantastic job of reminding someone that healthy can also be delicious. Great portion size, well dressed salad with fresh mozzarella adorned a plate of juicy grilled chicken. Great dish if you want a lot of flavor without a lot of fattiness. Want the fattiness? Get the Kobe burger! Thick Juicy patty (although overcooked...can't anywhere cook a burger mid-rare with consistency?!) was complimented the way any good burger should be: with carmalized onions, copious amounts of cheddar, and perfectly cooked bacon on a buttery seedless bun! Best burger I've had in quite some time (please don't overcooked next time, thanks guys!) My aunt raved about the eggplant rollatini, and being her favorite Italian fare, her validation is good enough to earn my recommendation. It came with pasta, but I was more intrigued by the quantity and the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and eggplant that appeared on her plate. If not for all the food I had already tackled, I would have easily dove in for a taste (luckily ill benefit from her leftovers!) Service was great! waitress was knowledgeable, didn't hang all over us, and have us time to enjoy our meal. Took it down a star for overcooking my burger (big pet-peeve of mine) and taking too long to get some bread to our table (when it did come however, it was crispy an piping hot!). My bf had the stuffed porkchop which had mozzarella and prosciutto inside with ample mushrooms in a Marsala sauce over the top. Phenomenal. The sides were mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was impressively cooked and full of flavor. I had the azul scallops which were cooked to perfection. The blue sauce they were in was delicious and unlike anything I have ever had. I called them last night around 9:15PM since the restaurant I was supposed to go to ignored me and my guest for 30 minutes... I knew they were closing soon, but Mike answered the phone and said come right over he will have a table for us. He went above and beyond making sure that we were sat right away and our waiter came right over. He also checked in on us numerous times during our meal to make sure that everything tasted good and we were satisfied. The place is smaller and a lot noisier than we expected. We waited for an exceptionally long time for the waiter to take our orders and saw that our waiter was getting orders from the customers that got here after us. Our waiter was basically attending to most of the customers in the room so she was probably super busy. Amazingly good, cooked to order dinner. Extensive menu with Italian, steak, seafood, sushi, flatbread dishes rivaling most other BYOB menus. I will have to visit several times to sample the menu thoroughly! Had a bronzino special with shrimp and asparagus risotto. The risotto was a dinner in itself loaded with shrimp and perfectly prepared. Peppered Tuna for appetizer was seared and cook perfectly rare with great sauces. My wife had Chicken Francais and claimed it the best she has had, tender and with a nice lemon sauce. Her pan fried dumplings with light, not doughy, and delightfully crispy. The strawberry cheesecake flute dessert was a really good. can;t wait to try other desserts from their pastry chef. Also sampled lobster risotto and Maryland crab soup which were both loaded with shellfish and freshly made. Our server Crystal was helpful and attentive and the owner Mike was always around to make sure everything was going well. Food is cooked to order so expect to wait a bit for your dinner, this is not Olive Garden (thankfully). We were in town after a long week of college visits, and picked this location because it was close to our hotel. It came highly recommended by the hotel, as well as fellow Yelper's. The description is rather odd however, Italian, Steaks, and Sushi. I was not in the mood for pasta, so it sounded like a good compromise. They actually have a small sushi bar, with a real Sushi chef. We were there about an hour and a half before closing, so the place was not full, and the sushi bar was not empty. We were greeted quickly and seated right away, and looking at the menu, the variety was pretty interesting. In addition to the traditional Italian fare, Sushi/Sashimi/Rolls, Seafood and Steaks there was a good variety of Chef Specials. I am a huge Osso Bucco fan, so seeing it on the specials list ended the decision process. I was not disappointed, as it was tender and flavorful. My daughter had the four-cheese flat-bread, which was cooked perfectly. We ended the evening with their Oreo pie, which is basically a mud pie with Oreos, and done quite well. I came in here around 7:45 with my boyfriend last night . I had a huge appetite , so I had the spicy crab salad appetizer to start . The crab was fresh and the spicy mayo was delicious ! I ate every last bite and I would definitely try the sushi next . I had the whole wheat pasta with chicken and veggies . Everything was cooked perfectly and the pasta tasted homemade ! Great dinner tonight at Bistro 1051.I haven't been there in a while and noticed they expanded a bit.The Lamb Chops that my son had was phenomenal. They were done a perfect medium and the wine Demi glacé was perfect.Surprisingly they were not too expensive even with the recent price increases of lamb and other meats.I had the crab raviolis with spinach and shrimp.Great dish.Also the Avocado and Burata crostini was a very good starter.I'm glad we checked back in.The service was very attentive and the food surprisingly came out fairly quickly as well hence my 5 star rating. read more

Met my friends there for lunch Saturday. The food was pretty underwhelming. The calamari was under seasoned and chewy, the short rib ravioli left much to be desired. The flavors in the sauce were off and the filling wasn't great. I sent nothing back since service wise, no one was rude and I don't send food back unless it's inedible. But I don't think I'd go back.
