I had gone for a family member's birthday party, service was terrible let me tell you. Originally we were excited to go out to a family dinner celebrating our aunt. The food was really good, that wasn't the concern of our night though. A server, with the last name Rubio, completely ruin our night. He was disrespectful, entitled, and rude. There were many instances in the night where we were treated poorly by this specific waiter. As well as others being served by him, we complained about his actions and words and have yet to receive any type of apology which is unfortunate because we really liked everything else the place but for this reason I don't see myself or my family going again. 1. I was up and about conversing with family members (it wasn't just me) and he tugged at my arm to get in a seat. 2. My husband went up to him to tell him that we'd like our check and we'd like to pay a family friend check too and we were basically treated like kids in primary school. He obligated us to be in our seat to bring us our check. He made us feel controlled and ruined the whole energy of the night. 3. Later in the night, when we told him we felt like we were being treated poorly and that his service was the worst we had ever experienced, his only response was "okay leave" and made sly comments making it seem like we were being kicked out. 4. The food is really good but the price point is ridiculous for the location. $14 for a short pour of the same wine that is offered for $10 literally 3 blocks away. I was disappointed that the high prices did not include even a small salad, another $10-12 there, so no. The oil & vinegar for the bread was not poured for us and had no seasoning at all. The staff was annoying in that we had barely been seated and one waiter was taking our drink order while another was rattling off the specials. Then a 3rd waiter came by to say hi, weird? They did outnumber the guests. The folks sitting near us had a different waited who seemed great. Our food came quickly but no one came back to check until our wine was gone, then asked not "how is the dinnner," but "more wine?" Waiter brought a dessert tray (kinda tacky & old school, but ok) and when I mentioned no one checked on us, you know maybe some cheese even, he explained he didn't want to disturb us....what??? Okay, that nixxed his tip. So $75 for 1 appetizer, one entree and 2 glasses of wine. You be the judge...I am sticking with That's Amore in Indianland. read more

We visited Bistro D'antonio last night as part of a party of six to celebrate a birthday. Jake was our server and was very good, but there ends my compliments. My wife had a seared tuna special and I had Veal Marsala. The tuna was tasteless and lacked any creativity. The Veal Marsala seemed like a safe choice in an Italian restaurant, but like the tuna was fairly bland. The veal was overcooked and tough and the mushrooms appeared to have come from a can. No, we didn't complain since we didn't want to overshadow our friends birthday, but it's very unlikely we will return. All this was over $85 without wine or drinks. read more

We went here last night for the first time, and we had great food. We had an appetizer of steak flatbread. Our entrees were the rigatoni with italian sausage and a pork chop special. Both were wonderful. There's no need to drive to Charlotte, we've got great italian here in Waxhaw. My only minor gripe is I wish their signage was a little more attention grabbing. I honestly don't get the hype. We are used to NY italian food and prices, so price isn't the only issue. We tried this place two times and both times we thought it was awful. Ordered the bruscetia and it was spot on! The wine selection is a good on but a little over priced per bottle. Had the surf and turf special tonight, and the steak was flawless! The lobster tail needs some work though. Tried other entrees tonight as well. The Maui over Risotta was another special and the Maui was a little dry, but the shrimp and Risotta was fantastic. By far the Eggplant parmesan was the best I have had in Union County! If you like sauce ask for extra marinara! It has an old school Italian taste to it! Wasn't as much on my pasta as I like at first but they provided as much when I asked. Overall, it was a great evening out without kids, next time the kids come and they get the full test. Took my mother here for Mother's Day. They were short staffed and all though we had a reservation at 6pm, we weren't seated until 6:25pm. Then we waited another 20 minutes for the waiter to come and take our order. We had to push the wait staff to send someone over. The food was mediocre and not worth the dining there again. read more

They think because a restaurant looks inviting and priced on the high side ... that it must be good. Wake up! The veal is like cardboard, the shrimp are frozen and over cooked. This is Waxhaw hidden gem! Amazing food amazing service and it is reasonably priced. It's our favorite date night place.

The service here is excellent! We were watching as Antonio visited every single table. He was such a gracious host. The food is very good, but not 5-star. It's a dressed-up version of what you might find at a really good pizza place, but with a $$$ pricetag. I did appreciate, however, the very thin cut chicken piccata. It was delicious. The accompanying pasta was tossed in some olive oil and garlic and was just so-so. Maybe if the garlic was roasted a little longer, the flavors might have come through a little more. Our guest ordered the carbonara. It was really, really good. The desserts were very good too. I wish there were a way to give this place 4 1/2 stars, because it deserves more than 4. But 5 stars would be be perfection and I have eaten at Italian restaurants at these prices, that have more authentic Italian selections/flavors on their menu. Be prepared to spend $100+ for two people. This restaurant should really be listed as $$-$$$. We will definitely be back. read more

Ok it was packed on New Years Eve so I shouldn't be critical but it's hard not to be critical when the staff failed at almost every step. Reservations at 8:30 and got there 10 minutes early but 2 people at hostess station were clueless and spent more time trying to look distracted rather than letting us know when our table would be ready. We asked about having a drink at the bar first and they basically avoided answering...very weird. They both seemed overwhelmed. Once we were seated we met our waitress who should really look for another job because she was horrible. She was confused from the start (couldn't remember why she came to our table...another awkward and weird situation), never came back to check on drinks but I could see her talking to coworkers at the waitress station (had to ask girl pouring water if she could get our waitress to get drinks for us). Asked waitress if she could package leftovers for us and she brought our food to the kitchen (never returned with our stuff but checked to see if we were ready to cash out 2 times), she actually told us the owners can look for someone else to work next New Years Eve. Even worse, after our main course was served the owner showed up and asked if we wanted grated cheese, we said yes and he disappeared to the kitchen and never came back. The food was average at best. We are so happy that we found this restaurant by accident. The food was fabulous, the service impeccable. We loved that the music was easy listening and not so loud that you couldn't hear each other speak. Only fly in the ointment was there was a very unsightly jeep parked right outside the window where we sat, we would have preferred the tree line that runs along the side of building. Horrible experience all around this Valentines day. When I called to check if any tables were available (none were and that was expected) I asked about seating at the bar and was told yes, first come, first served, but when we arrived, there were luckily a pair of seats open, but several of the bar seats had markers showing them reserved. We later found out that you can reserve seats at the bar for dinner. Strike one. On the online menus and on placards on every table and several at the bar is advertised a 3 course meal special for $35. Online and also all around the restaurant are placards advertising a 5 course, $60 Valentine's day special. There was nothing online or in the restaurant that indicated that the advertised 3 course special wasn't offered for Valentine's day, even though everything on the special was on the main menu and being served. When we tried to order the 3 course special our waiter, Alex, who was wonderful, told us that special was not being offered tonight. When I explained that it was being advertised all over the restaurant and online with no caveat about Valentine's day, he went to ask the management and I was refused. When I asked Antonia directly about it he just blew me off as if I didn't matter, "oh, we are just advertising for next week". I considered it false advertising or bait and switch since ordering the same items off the regular menu cost much more. Strike 2. I ordered the scallops, since I had had them before and enjoyed them the last time I was there. My wife ordered the Lobster ravioli. One of the reasons I ordered the scallops was they came with risotto, which I love. When the food was brought out instead of risotto, half my plate was covered in broccoli. I had to sit and wait while they brought out a side of risotto to correct the error. And to make things worse the broccoli covered up one of the scallops that had almost no sear on it at all. At this price point I expect very good food and that was not the case for me. My wife did enjoy her ravioli. All of this took a very long time. I saw other people at the bar complaining about how long things were taking and one couples meals coming out almost 5 minutes apart. The gentleman watched his food getting cold while he waited for his companions entree to come out. After we finally got and ate our meal I asked Alex about the desert menu. Because of understaffing (on Valentine's day....give me a break) Alex was having to act as bartender as well as take care of his customers. After waiting for over 10 minutes I just asked for the check. I had had enough for one night. Strike 3 and more. Oh and by the way only two of the 3 carrots in my dish were eatable read more

After seeing all these great reviews wife and I decided to drive down and see. First, hostess seemed uninterested in our seating preference. Sitting someone where the sun is shining when there are so many empty tables is unacceptable.oh,I forgot to mention there were only two other couples in the restaurant. Then we waited nearly 10 minutes before our waiter showed up.he didn't bother to explain the daily special and when we ordered he rolled his eyes as if to show his disgust at our splitting a meal.. Our pasta was barely warm and the veal was also. Waiter never came back to check to see if we needed anything. If the place was crowded I could understand wait staff scurrying about but like I said before there were only 2 other couples there.and several waiters but no one seemed interested in serving us. We almost got up to leave after sitting for almost 10 minutes but decided to stay. Unfortunately it was a bad experience.probably not going back- more than one Italian restaurant in area so unless things change here they won't be one of them. Let me just start with, every food item we received was fantastic. I think the Chicken Parmesan is the best I have EVER had. Seriously, ever. Now let me explain why I only went with four stars instead of five. We were seated promptly even though we were about 15 minutes early for our reservation. Our server, Rubio (I believe? Strong accent), came over promptly to tell us about the specials and take our drink and appetizer order. We didn't get to place our dinner order until after we had eaten our appetizer, about 20-25 minutes into being there. The table next to us was sat right before we were, just having received their drinks when we sat down. They got their food, ate, ordered dessert, and ate that all before we even got our dinner. We waited between 40-45 minutes for our meals. During that time our server only came over twice to tell us "just a few more minutes", but other than that, our empty table was completely ignored and we received zero apologies from management, who weren't oblivious to the situation, as they were either posted up at the bar right next to our table or walking the floor. After the table next to us had gotten their desserts, I assumed each time more food left the kitchen it was ours, but three other tables who sat after us got their food before us. I tried to be understanding that if one table orders meat and another only orders pasta, a pasta dish would likely come up first, but when we'd been waiting as long as we had for our dinner that excuse didn't matter to me anymore. We became the table where servers are embarrassed to walk by because our frustrations were becoming obvious. I told the table that if the manager walked by again before the food came out I would inform him of our wait (again, not that they couldn't have known), and find out what the hold-up was, to hopefully instill a sense of urgency. The least you can do is come over and offer an apology, some more bread, and then have a manager take ownership of the situation. The saving grace was that the food was downright delicious. We paid the bill, with only our dessert comped for a birthday at the table. It was expensive, it was delicious, and I'll give it another try, but as someone who worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, I was severely disappointed in the level of ownership and empathy on behalf of the staff. read more

Had dinner here this past Friday night. Very much enjoyed the Chicken D'Antonio and would agree completely with the others who spoke highly of the eggplant. My wife had the twin lobster tail special and she enjoyed that very much as well. We shared the meatball appetizer and really like the tomato sauce. Prices were reasonable, service was good and the restaurant was filled with people having a good time. A couple of "Happy Birthdays" were sung by the staff over the course of the evening. We will definitely be back and would recommend this restaurant. read more

I gave this establishment 1 star....not because of anything with the food. The owner, Antonio, berated the server several times. We were there for lunch and several large parties were also there. There were only two servers. The food was great, our server was efficient and professional even though Antonio kept berating her. I judge a business by how they treat their staff. read more

Stopped while taking a road trip south. The food was good and the service was great. I am a vegan and when asked if the chef can recommend something because the menu had no vegan options. The waitor was very accommodating and spoke with the chef. He prepared a delicious dish for me and the rest of my party was very happy as well. The dessert was a hit with everyone! read more

We went to Bistro D'Antonio for a birthday dinner. Wow, it was wonderful, much to choose from on the menu and I was particularly amazed at the different salad choices they had. We had a Meatballs Al Forno for an appetizer, and they were great, soft and very flavorful. There were six of us and everyone enjoyed their dinner very much from Lasagna to Linguine Clam Sauce Pasta and more, no one was disappointed.
