We remember how wonderful this restaurant was in its old location. Not so much now. First, AVOID Early Bird. Three of us were seated inside. Only 3 other tables yet very loud. Server was clear about early bird Rules - order all 3 courses immediately... It was a bad omen. We expect and welcome smaller portions for EB. But the soup was unusually tiny. The mains arrived HOT - so hot you couldn't touch the dish - a sure sign it had been sitting in a hot oven, waiting for someone to order it. Desserts were the only highlight. One thing that EB shouldn't shortchange is Service but we found it sadly disappointing and rushed. Dishes were brought without even a guess who ordered it. As soon as one person finished, that plate was whisked away and my unfinished plate would have been removed had I not objected. It seemed their mission was getting us out before the post-EB diners arrived. It's Just as well, can't imagine how loud it would get with more diners in the room. read more

Three of us went yesterday afternoon, we had a 5:30 reservation. We all decided to order from the early specials menu. You have your choice of an appetizer, an entree a dessert and house wine for $46.00. The Black Angus steak frites sounded good. Our server said it was a ribeye. Two of us ordered ours med-rare and the other asked for med. The "steaks" were about the diameter of a small to med size hamburger and about a half-inch thick. They all came out overcooked and so tough we had trouble cutting them with a steak knife. I took two bites and didn't want anymore. It didn't even have a good steak flavor, just bland. The fries were excellent as were the escargot I chose as my appetizer. Two of us ordered the profiterol crepe, they came out completely flat, greasy and burnt, no filling whatsoever. The other person ordered the chocolate mousse and said it was good. The restaurant was not busy so that wasn't a factor. The outside of the structure is unusual however the inside is cute and cozy, but the food overall was very disappointing. Our server Tony was excellent. Maybe their regular menu items are better but If you're going to offer a Special which often entices new customers so they can try a bit of everything, don't skimp on the quality of the food. Make sure it's of good quality, comes out of the kitchen prepared properly and appealing to the eye. Because of my first experience here I doubt that I I will be returning. I grew up in a restaurant family so I know the challenges but quality, preparation and flavor are key for return business. Again I will give credit where credit is due, for some of the food items, anbiance and our server Tony. I truly mean no ill intent, I really wanted to love my food and experience so we would have another favorite place to go. I understand that everyone's tastes and expectations are different. I just feel that if owners are aware of what a customer finds displeasing they will look into it and strive to improve. read more

Our party of 4 went for the early dining menu. The soup of the day we were told was cauliflower/carrot. When it was delivered it was brown. I asked the server if that was correct and she said it was. I was about to taste it (against my better judgement) when the server came back and told me it was mushroom soup and that the chef had changed it without telling anyone. I am allergic to mushrooms. Served removed it, dropping my dinner fork on the floor in the process and put it back on the table. Really? The salmon fish of the day was described incorrectly and therefore the meal I received was completely different than how it was described. Crepe suzette was a total fail. We were finishing our desserts when the owner told us she needed the table - although there were many empty tables - and told it was time to go. We had paid $35 for corkage for our bottle of wine which we were not finished drinking. We asked for larger wine glasses for our $150 bottle of wine and were told they didn't have larger glasses. Then the table next door got large wine glasses delivered to their table. Had to show the server where they came from. Overall, honestly the food was good. Acoustics are very difficult with hard stone/brick walls and sound bouncing all over the place. We spent over $500 and were asked to vacate the table in less than 2 hours. Won't be going back. Giving 3 stars for the food only. read more

French menu but not a "French" prep. Two trips similar food in 2023-4. Butter served from the freezer, fish tasted "fresh frozen" not fresh. Coq au Vin was over done chicken with a sweet thick sauce NOT slow cooked in wine with veggies. Vegetables of the day were few thin sliced pieces of zucchini and a small rock hard half a tomato. Potatoes serving very very small [we aren't big eaters]. Had a ham sandwich later that night. The topper was the goat cheese in puff pastry that required a 12 minute prep per the menu. It came out in 5 minutes obvious done earlier and set in the frig, probably microwaved. Crust wasn't flakey and the cheese was cool - not bad but again, lazy prep. Not what we experienced a few years ago. We are by definition "fussy" about well done food. This was closer to chain restaurant food than French cuisine. Place is extremely noisy - as in tiresome noisy due to the lots of glass and low hard ceilings. Disappointing. read more

Went for lunch. The place was mobbed with people, but no wait staff. Waited forever for drniks,food and the check! Owner was waiting tables and was not happy. Never came back to our table despite our efforts to get someone's attention. Couldn't handle the crowd as everyone there was angry with the lack of wait staff May go back but not until season is over. The food was really good though. read more

They have no vegetarian sandwich option on the menu and when I asked if they could accommodate, she said no- and was very rude about it...(after seeing my medical alert service dog.) Decided to try this restaurant with our friends. Unfortunately was totally disappointed. The escargot was under seasoned. The duck entre was overcooked and dry. On both the grouper & shrimps and the boullabaise, there was an overwhelming amount of broth and overcooked. PS: There were only 2 small shrimps. Presentation by servers leaves a lot to be desired. Had to ask for every refill on the water. You can't reach over a customer to serve them; you need to walk around and place the plates. Cleanliness in restaurant was OK. Exquisitely intimate. I'm not sure if the 12-tables inside were due to current restraints, but the intimacy was delightful. There is also outdoor seating (under cover.) Extensive wine list. I had a glass of red Argentine Malbec, and a white Salcerre. There were four main dishes that I wanted to try: the short rib beef bourguignon (red wine sauce) was délicieux. It included a small tomato with chopped garlic. I could have eaten an entire plate of the tomatoes! Crème brûlée. The decor made you feel like you were in a French village bistro. So disappointed. I've heard so many good reviews about this place and I've been dying to try it. Ordered the Château Briand medium and it was overcooked. But the worst part was the béarnaise sauce. I could've sworn it came out of a Knorrs package. I asked them if it was and they said it was freshly made but the chef either made it hours before or he used a lot of flour in it. This is our second time to eat here, and we just love it. The seared fois gras is to die for, and the classic Grand Marnier souffle is perfection. I always get the escargot, but my husband likes to try something different every time. The staff is lovely (we met the chef tonight - always a treat!), and the food couldn't be more delicious. We noticed this restaurant a few weeks ago, but had not realized it was the former le Lafeyette, having reopened in this new location only recently. As lovers of French cuisine, especially bistro menus, we went in with high ambitions that this could become our go to local restaurant. Alas, we were disappointed. It began with the seating. We had made reservations for a table of 4 in advance. A bit of background - the 4 of us had the great pleasure of living in France for several years, so our expectations and experiences were well grounded. We had many years of being spoiled by "average" restaurants that would stand out anywhere else. We were initially asked to sit in the first table by the entrance, next to the hostess stand, while many tables were unseated. When we asked for a different table, we were told no, that they were for other reservations...like us. After several minutes of asking for a manager, someone was able to get us seated inside at one of the empty tables. I did chalk this up to the newness of the location and the young staff becoming familiar with the operations. The co-owner who managed our table was very friendly, fun to talk to; she created a welcoming environment. Now, for dinner. Wine list is ok, not great, not bad. Would welcome a few more french wines though. We began with 2 french onion soups, 1 seared fois gras, 1 fois gras torchon. The soup was good and rich, though the cheese could have been browned a bit more, crusted up over the top. The cold fois gras was very good, a highlight, especially with the fig sauce. The warm fois gras was good, though seared a bit too much that took away from a personal favorite. Good plum sauce to accompany it. Good grades for the first course. For dinner, we had the salmon, the frog legs, beef bourguignon and the duck a la orange. The salmon was well cooked ,the beef bourguignon was well done, showing the long stewing time, though a few more vegetables would be good. The frog legs were average, the coating a bit mushy rather than a bit of a crisp coating. The duck was dry, the skin was not as crisp as expected and the sauce could use some improvement. In a positive sign of the leadership of the restaurant, they did comp us the duck. We tried the mousse and the profiteroles to finish the night. The mousse was very good, silky in texture and deep in flavor. The profiteroles were below average, as the three elements - the cream puff was bland, the ice cream less flavorful, the chocolate sauce was poor. Rainbow sprinkles as a finisher seemed unnecessary. I hope this is still the restaurant experiencing growing pains into its new location, though it is the same team from before. I'm hoping the restaurant can improve across the board, for a good bistro experience is sorely needed in Naples. read more

We went here because it always seems busy. The service was very slow. My friend ordered scallop risotto which was delicious. However, I ordered the spinach, mushroom and tomato crepe which was horrible. I didn't even eat it. Very dry, overcooked crepe with sautéed vegetables. When I told the waitress that I did not like it, she told me very curtly that it was made the French way, not the American way with any sauce and said it was clearly described on the menu. Then she stormed away and ignored us for the rest of our time. I guess I insulted her. We will not be back. read more

A winner! The group from La Lafayette opened Bistro La Baguette after Irma wrecked their downtown location. I hope they succeed! The food is delicious, including, notably, the baguette. Wonderful flavors. Inside, the dining room is charming and bright. It would be five stars except for two things. The service should be more attentive, but I assume this will improve as they all gain experience here. Our server was clearly new. There was a bit of a lag as there were only two servers until we were leaving when another brand new server started. There is no 41 street noise inside, but in the bar room and on the patio, it's a little bothersome. They need some large planters/foliage to dull that. Good luck to you! I'll be back! read more

Went there for lunch. Sat down after passing their table of pastries outside and teeming with flies. I should've taken that as a sign and left. We had 2 sandwiches with French onion soup. There was rotting food on both and the French onion soup also tasted terrible. One sandwich was Brie and apple, where there was barely any apple and what was on there was rotten along with the tomato that was rotting or was left out for a long period of time. I was sick to my stomach the rest of the day. I am truly sorry we ever went there. read more

Had the goat cheese gourmand salad and it was absolutely delicious. The dressing was light & everything was so fresh & crisp. Would've snapped a picture, but ate it quicker than anticipated. Also had the chocolate eclair, which was good as well. If anyone gets the eclair, thaw it for a little while before eating because the inside was frozen. we will definitely eat here again! read more

For the past 4 years we have enjoyed dinners at La Bsguette. Was good.Unfortunately I cannot say that this year. Last night was not a pleasant dining experience. We were greeted by a young gentleman who arrived at our table and proceeded to be our waiter. Very inexperienced to say the least. We ordered the shirt steak special and arrived cooked well and we asked for medium rare. When brought to his attention he took a fork and inspected the meat with his flash light on this phone at our table. The other steak entree was a very small piece and appeared to be an end piece. Not great presentation or value for price. When waiter took our order he asked if we wanted soup or salad implying it was included in special and the check shoed separate prices. Order coffee and he brings it ice cold. The owner pasted our table several times serving the table next to us and never stopped to ask how everything was. If waiter is new he should be in training.
