I had the spinach ravioli and truffle cream sauce and it was divine. My sisters had the gnocchi that was too dense but the sauce was good and the carbonara which was also really good. By far, my ravioli dish was the favorite for all three of us! read more

As others have previously stated, this restaurant is definitely a mom and pop-run place. It's small, but the food is pretty good. The portions are a bit small but the meals are generally €10 so you can't complain too much. If you're looking for a decent meal under budget, this is the place for you; if you want huge food platters that cost more, look elsewhere. I shared an order of lasagna and carbonara with my girlfriend. I enjoyed the lasagna, but it wasn't out of this world. You could tell it was homemade because it had the crispy edges (which I love)! I liked the lasagna more than the carbonara, though. It was my first time trying carbonara and it just tasted differently than I had imagined it would; it was definitely eggy, but the flavors just didn't match up to my expectations. Still, the table of four next to us all ordered the carbonara, so it could just be me. Service was fine -- nothing to write home about. Food was cheap and filling enough. CASH ONLY. But they won't tell you that until the check comes!! Stumbled upon this place because it was near my hotel. We were seated immediately and they took our order right away. My husband ordered the meatballs and lasagna and I ordered the gnocchi in lamb ragu. Everything was just mediocre. The worst part, however, was that when the check came and we tried to pay with a credit card the server told us "their machine was not working" and then forced my husband to walk to an atm to take out cash. I was not feeling well and could not leave right away because of this nonsense. They should have told us as soon as we sat down that it was cash only!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Love love love this place!!!!!!! It's a legit family-run restaurant. Dad is the owner/host/waiter, wife cooks the food, sons and daughter wait tables. Even the grandkids are there. Food is outstanding home-cooked Italian food. But the owner makes this place so great. So friendly and welcoming and CHARMING! He's a legit Italian grandpa and loves his customers like they are family. The guy made our trip to Rome very special. I really enjoyed my meal at this lovely local bistro. We had a great server who really made us feel welcome. For some reason, I always get excited when I see tripe on a daily specials board outside a restaurant. I like to see what a talented cook can do with cheaper cuts of meat. Anybody can make filet mignon taste fantastic but what you can do with a large intestine really separates the good from the great, in my opinion. The tripe I had was in a tomato sauce with fresh mint (!) and pecorino Romano. Simple flavor profile, with the mint coming through nicely over top the tomato base and rich/pungent cheese. We had a very pleasant experience here! The service was fast and friendly and the food was great. My husband ate the carbonara and really enjoyed it. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, a classic. This place is amazing. Mom and Pop vibe - Nonna is in the kitchen, and Nonno is happy to serve you wine from his vineyard, named after his son, who also works there. Delicious lasagna, with thin noodles, and sauce that is soooooo good. The beef strips with truffle and parmiggiano reggiano were so tasty, as well as a wonderful selection of bruschette. Our first stop for dinner in Rome! Very cute family own restaurant. The food was delicious. I had the carbonara and my boyfriend had the ragu, both were very good! For our second courses, we both had the breaded cutlet of meat (we think it's veal?). It was fried perfectly and very thin and not too greasy or heavy. Definitely recommend stopping here!!! Stumbled upon this gem around from our hotel. Very welcoming and made us feel at home. The food that "momma" cooked was very delicious. The grilled salmon was absolutely amazing. I have not had salmon like this ever. The salmon had a nice charred grill on it. Daughter had ricotta and spinach ravioli and ate it all. She's picky and loved it. The service was fantastic and everyone incredibly welcoming and friendly. We are only in Rome for a few days and we will certainly come back. Favorite meal in Italy thus far (day 7). Superb, friendly, personal service. Owner's Nicolini house red wine at €12/bottle was peachy. The steak was tough, but the flavor was excellent... definitely recommended. Wife had sea bass. While it was a small portion she only ate half. Her entree came with a small salad as did our one friend who got veal. Both agreed worse salad they had in Italy and we are on day 14. She did like her veal. Her husband had salmon and he said it was very plain and over cooked. I had pizza. Of the 7-8 I've had so far this was by far the worse. Only the veal saved them on getting a lower rating. read more

Arrived in Rome and looked for a place close to our hotel which was the Best Western which was by the way a a great hotel!!' We dinned at this place and was very disappointed! My friend ordered pasta with chicken and there was very little chicken but there was some cartilage in it which was very unappealing. I had spaghetti with clam sauce. They served it in the shell , the only problem with it was that the shell was there but very few clams in it ! My other friend ordered spaghetti with meat sauce... again the spaghetti was there but the meat was hard to find. I would not recommend this place ... remember Rome is loaded with restaurants keep looking !! read more

This place was, in a word, average. The pasta wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't remarkable by any means, although I wouldn't recommend the carbonara as it was rather flavorless. The pizza was reminiscent of American pizza, topped heavily with sauce and cheese, and tasted like something I could make with store bought sauce. I was also a little put off by how unclean my silverware was, particularly as there was some dried food on my knife. Despite all this, the service was great and the food arrived relatively quickly. Nice little bistro - both the owner and grandson were outside waiting for people to come in - very nice but pretty expensive..the specials on their menus are not really specials they are just in addition to the menu items- the prices of the specials are actually higher priced items than the menu items--and on the special board there isn't any prices listed so you have to ask or order and see what the bill says lol. The house wine was good as well. The one thing that we didn't like was they only accept cash! No credit cards- they didn't have a sign or anything posted stating that so we were surprised when we tried to pay. read more

Amazing! My family tried this for our first meal in Rome. The service was quick and staff was friendly. To start we ordered Bruschette Miste (mixed bruschetta) which was delicious. The bread was very fresh along with all the other ingredients. For my main dish I ordered the Lasagna, an excellent choice. The meat was tasty and tomato sauce was rich with flavor, combining with the soft, fresh pasta to make a wonderful meal. Lastly, we had a very nice piece of tiramisu for dessert. We ordered a caprese, the carbonara, and, a special of the day, the pasta alla gricia with fresh truffles. Both the carbonara and alla gricia had great flavor, however, I felt like the pasta was a touch over cooked. Altogether, a very tasty meal. However, when we went to pay, they told us that their credit card machines were down. My husband had to run all over the area trying to find an ATM. Also, while I was sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for him to come back, no one checked on me. I would have definitely ordered another glass of wine or two.
