Cafe style, the food was good and lacked any kind of warmth. Could have been decorated better.

This was a new concept that started this year. I couldn't quite figure who Food News and Chews is…read morethough. The only promotion or talk that I heard about this week long event, was on the radio. But whoever Food News and Chews is, thank you! This is Kentucky, so it does make complete sense to highlight one of our culinary staples. Highlight is exactly what most the restaurants did. They used the opportunity to highlight their businesses and culinary abilities. There was only one version that I didn't particularly care for, but even that version seemed to be more than an average $5 sandwich. Most of the versions were battered and huge. My favorite version was the one from Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. I loved that they used their everyday chicken tenders. If you hadn't tried their spices and tenders before, this event gave you the chance. Second to their famous chicken, the mac and cheese is their next best thing. Guess what? They combined that mac and cheese with a ranch sauce and included it in the chicken sandwich. I'm hoping that I can get this chicken sandwich the next time that I go to Gus's too.

Food-based ________ week in Lexington seems to have a new addition each year (burger, pizza, taco…read moreare already established, but chicken sandwich week was new), and I like it! It's an effective way to entice me to try out restaurants I haven't been to and to try a (sometimes) creative spin on a fairly straightforward item. This one wasn't run by the same group that runs all of the others, and it had fewer restaurants participate and far less advertising/publicity. Largely because of these two things, there weren't many that interested me enough to warrant a visit and I didn't even realize it was happening until the week was almost halfway over. I did go to one restaurant that I definitely wouldn't have gone to otherwise though, and really enjoyed the chicken sandwich there. I'd love to see it return with better restaurant participation next year!

This is a great place to get a great meal, a cocktail, and leave satisfied. The place is so cool…read more Brick and iron at its best. The charm of old tables with mismatched chairs, even a bench made from an old bed headboard. The staff is great. Quick to answer questions and offer suggestions. The bar is huge. Bottles upon bottles. Then there is the food. Locally sourced and cooked to order. My mom ordered the catfish. It looked delicious and she ate every bite on the plate. My breakfast bowl was absolutely perfect! Potatoes roasted to perfection with awesome hot sausage with eggs cooked to order and covered in the best sausage gravy that I have ever had! Note: I love sausage gravy and have eaten it all over the country. Bravo to the chef! We will be back!

Finally made it back for my second visit to Local Feed. This time was for a Lexington Bourbon…read moreSociety group event with 25-30 people. We sat mostly on the front patio with a table or two inside later in the evening. Everyone ordered their own food and drinks. Adam and his bar staff took great care of us. They got the first rounds of drinks taken care of then took food orders. The deviled eggs were popular, plentiful, and delicious. I got the fried chicken (again) with a side of real mashed potatoes and gravy. It was fantastic (again). I really should try something else sometime. But others did and I heard no complaints. They serve breakfast any time and a couple got omelettes and cleaned their plates, raving about the hashbrowns (no meat fat to cook, so vegetarian friendly). All the cocktails were good. New seasonal menu had just started and the Marmalade Sour got good reviews. They have a larger patio out back and an ample dining room. It's a great stop when in Georgetown. Pics from my last visit but still accurate.
