They were having a fundraiser for Gaston grad night so I went there to eat along with a lot of other people in support, and then they said they didn't make any profit. It was very busy when I went there, so I would not use this place as a fundraiser and I will never eat there again. They didn't give any money to the school! read more

By far my favorite restaurant- Bites has amazing food and delicious beverages! With reasonable prices and excellent staff, this is the ideal option for any date night or family dinner spot. The wait staff were kind and apologetic for our long wait times (which weren't too bad if you ask me). It was a Monday night and they did seem rather busy for that day of the week. We started with the Kimchi fries. I think these are my new favorite food ever! They had the right amount of crunch and not greasy at all. there are a couple of dishes I could absolutely adore & eat weekly if the promise of those meals was realized. it's the promise that gets 3. if bites were to fully execute them, I'd petition the pope for a special 6 yelp rating. fish & chips: outstanding flavor and perfectly crisp (when I get it fast enough as I order takeout 99.5% of the time). the big flop is that kimchi tartar. it's mostly flavorless with an oily yet acidic afterbite and leaves a film I want a napkin to wipe out of my mouth (so glad I was at home the first time I tried the sauce cuz that's exactly what I did. that coulda been embarrassing in public). teriyakidon: utterly delicious combo of grilled chicken, stir fried cabbage and rice with a "drizzle" of teriyaki sauce. that sauce is heavenly but nowhere near enough of it, especially when half the takeout container is filled with plain white sticky rice and barely enough of that absolutely devine cabbage to give you a taste let alone mix with the rice to give it some flavor. the drizzle of teriyaki sauce should be a crime punishable by making it law to provide a bucket sized monkey dish full of that heaven. read more

Bites is my all time favorite in forest grove. The Asian fusion is great, you can go traditional all the way to a touch of Asian. Based on this visit, this establishment deserves all the stars they can get. Right from start the service team was welcoming and hospitable as they are supposed to be. My brother and I went later in the evening maybe around 9, so when presented menus we were given their "late-night" menu. Having worked in the service industry I appreciated this a lot because it helps to make things easier on the kitchen staff if a big wave of customers were to come it. It keeps the quality of the food high and at a standard! The food was delightful, a nice twist on modern Asian cuisine. The service staff from the bartenders, waiting staff and the bussers was superb, recommended items and sold us on them. They knew their products and that is something that will help a business go far. Great training on that. This establishment seems as if it is a bit advanced for Forest Grove but I think that it's something Forest Grove needs. A little modernization, something new. I LOVED IT! Overall we enjoyed our visit and we would return again with more family and friends the next time. read more

Disappointing, This place has so much potential... I want to start by saying our server was fantastic! she got us our drinks and appetizers right away. The appetizers where tasty amd hit the spot, but the drinks were sub par. My wife's drink came out in a dirty cup to start. And to top it off, we waited an hour and a half for our entrees!!! Totally unacceptable! After sitting there for two hours we had to take our food to go. We asked to speak with the manager, he came out and was only making excuses and totally unapologetic. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant and he put "to-go" orders in ahead of the people who were actually in the restaurant. The drink options were minimal because they where out of a lot of items, my wife's meal was incomplete because they didn't have all the ingredients. This guy has no idea how to run a restaurant and needs to be replaced in my opinion. You can forget any chance of us returning, unless the owner of this restaurant acts quickly and replaces this manager.... As a business owner myself, I would fire this guy as fast as I could and find someone with some actual customer service skills, if I hope to keep my doors open. read more

My visit was great. I wasn't sure how the food would turn out because it's an interesting combination of American/European foods with asian foods. My dish, consisting of artichoke, rice noodles, and Alfredo sauce, was great. I also tried the sweet potato fries which were super good, probably some of the best sweet potato fries I've had. I also enjoyed the aioli dipping sauce it came with. My only complaint is that they don't have that many vegetarian/vegan options. There were a few, and what I got was good, but it did not seem complete like some non-veg meals I saw. My recommendation would be to have some kind of veg patty that could be easily subbed on the burgers and then you would have way more options on the menu, some of those burgers sounded really great but as a vegetarian I obviously can't order them unless I wanted an incomplete sandwich. Everything here was absolutely amazing. First, for cocktails, their Old Fashion is made with real sugar instead of simple syrup. For Tapas, the Ahi Guacamole was to die for. Weak drinks, odd menu choices and combinations. My fiancé and I came here and saw that their food was not our flavor, so we decided to just get a drink. Tried Bites on a Sunday mid-afternoon, so it wasn't too busy. We had the Waltz brewery stout on tap which was very good; we wanted to try the amber, but the keg had just run out. They only have three taps; wish they had more, but they are only a couple blocks from Waltz. I also had a Moscow mule, which was light and frsh and had a blueberry garnish with huge berries, and was great for a sunny day. We tried two appetizers; the calamari and the tuna tataki (seared tuna). The calamari was very fresh, not chewy at all, and came with an aoli for dipping. Light breading, not heavily seasoned; the best calamari we've found so far on the west side. It also came with some greens with their mango vinaigrette dressing which was so tasty; we may have to get the calamari salad with that dressing next time we go. The tuna was melt in your mouth, very fresh, with a sesame crust and light soy dipping sauce. Can't wait to come back and try more food! read more

I ordered today through Door Dash today and they were really quick to send me my order, but the food was terrible. The egg roll mozzarella appetizer was cold in the center and my Kai Dow was awful. The chicken was like rubber and had a bad smell. The rice was greasy and tasteless. It was not a good experience at all. I only could stomach the eggs and a little rice with kimchi. My husband and I had been on the hunt for a good restaurant for some time.....or I should say, a good meal. We kept reading reviews and going to trendy places in PDX and we were always disappointed. Either the food was awful or it was decent, but the price left the overall impression very bitter. Then we went to Bites. You guys. This place EXCEEDED every expectation. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. We ordered tempura green beans with spicy dip and All American burgers. The appetizer was huge, and yet when it was gone, we felt sad! It was perfect tempura batter..... spicy sauce....so much more than we were expecting. And the burger????? I mean, we haven't stopped talking about it. Incredibly moist and packed with flavor. We are big time foodies and this place is our new #1. No exaggeration. Now for the best part....well the best part for a cheap-o mom of three. THE PRICE. We went here because of the "great" reviews. The staff was friendly - but that's about where our good experience ended. We got there around 5:30pm. They weren't overly busy, and seemed to have ample staffing for it being so slow. We ordered our food and waiting 35 mins for the Cauliflower appetizer and 2 burgers. The food was mediocre at best - the "orange dipping sauce" was not good at all, and would have been better left off or as a DIP instead of coated on them. The burgers were just burgers and fries. Nothing special - just a basic burger and okay fries, definitely NOT worth that kind of wait. While waiting for our food we saw 2 other tables that came in and ordered after us get their multiple plates of food. While eating our food we saw people order and get their food within 5 minutes. At the end they apologized that they'd "forgotten" us but didn't make any form of restitution or give us an incentive to go back. Horrible place, and such a disappointment after all the raving reviews. read more

Have been here a couple times and enjoyed the service and the food. The shrimp nachos, crab bites and kimchi fries were all great. Noodle dishes weren't quite what we expected and the taste was kinda off. But the small plates have all been excellent so far. Agree with other reviewers that adding a happy hour menu with more affordable prices would be good for business and attract more of the local college crowd. read more

Apparently the service problems some have mentioned have been ironed out -- the place was nearly full early on a Saturday evening, a very cheerful sight, but there was plenty of friendly staff and we were served quickly and efficiently. (Well, a request for extra kimche took too long, but that was a very small problem.) Food -- Seoul dumplings, spicy ramen, kai dow -- all very enjoyable; good house wines reasonably priced. An interesting menu, and we'll be back to explore further. read more

I ordered some food for pick up here and while the food was just fine, I was told that I couldn't wait at the bar because it was for "VIP" only. The only people at the bar were some servers just hanging out and not working. I was not impressed with the service. read more
