MY favorite breakfast spot. Excellent food, excellent waiters and waitresses, and coming from a former restaurant owner, I can say that this place is managed very well. Always clean, and food prep is always fast. I would eat here more often if I wasn't such a tight wad and tight belted, although they are not terribley expensive nor are they terrible unhealthy. They do have some vegetarian, possible even some vegan options. P.S. some of these pictures do not do the food justice. I will take some next time I'm there, which should be VERY soon. It is a nice place. Small yet classy decor. Greeted by gracious owner with baby on board. Didn't take long to get a seat for two. Problem it was right near the door so it was freezing cold every time it was opened. Had a real coffee issue. When 15 minutes had passed without it arriving I was told that's because it's brewing. Seriously? A breakfast spot where coffee doesn't flow freely? Refills were just as scare but that might be more on sub par service. Date had French toast and loved it. Huge portion. The homemade sausage was meh. I had the Rancheros which was good although portion was small (most of the plate was filled with cold potatoes). Ordered crispy bacon and even after sending it back still never got it right. I only saw 2 brunch items - a burger and a side of Mac and cheese. The service was terrible. Now you might be saying I'm judging too harshly but here is the reason why - before tip the bill was $33. When you play in that ball park you gotta deliver. They didn't. read more

I came back again for Saturday brunch and I'm so glad they finally have biscuits and gravy on the menu because that was exactly what I was craving for!! If you're craving some serious southern comfort food, you have to order this. Two sunny side eggs in top of their homemade honey biscuits, with their homemade gravy/sausage sauce heavily drizzled on top. You get their house potatoes on the side too. We ordered a side of maple bacon as well and it was THE PERFECT thing to have after a long week of work. I hope they keep this dish on their menu a long time!!! read more

Visiting from out of state and my family member who is a local brought us here. The food was absolutely delicious and it was cheap! I got the bittersweet breakfast which was 2 eggs(I got over easy and they were cooked perfectly), breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit was buttery and delicious and a nice change from dry toast. The potatoes were fried and not too greasy. Had a bite of the side of Brussel sprouts and they were sweet and delicious. I came here with a friend I haven't seen in 2 years. We both hate waking up early, but this was worth it. We had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated and in the process I knocked over a chair. The staff didn't seem to mind much so it's a plus that they're respectful of clumsy people. Waitstaff was friendly and we were served relatively quickly. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it was delicious. The portion size was fairly large for myself, and I even ended up taking some home. I would recommend this place for things like huevos rancheros, their stuffed french toast, or an order of their fritters. However if you just want a pancake or standard bacon and eggs, I would suggest somewhere else. While my friend did enjoy his pancakes, he felt that they weren't worth the price. If you're on the verge of whether or not you should try the place out, I'd say go for it. read more

This little place is flawless with customer service, quality of food and ambiance. We don't usually like to go out for eggs because some diner/restaurants use a phony cheap oil that has an awful aftertaste . Bittersweet uses quality ingredients and has a creative menu. We just had the best tuna melt I've ever eaten which tasted more like a crab cake. And we were able to snag an outdoor table to enjoy a beautiful morning. Giving 2 stars mostly because I feel bad giving anyone just one star. The menu makes it seems as though there are vegan options by the note saying to ask for such options. However, when I asked for vegan menu items the waitress had no idea what was vegan. As it turns out, the only option was a tofu banh mi without the mayo or a kale salad. I ended up with the banh mi. It was just ok. My plate came with a pile or orzo salad which was far from vegan. The owner came out and gave me a side of kale salad after realizing that the orzo wasn't vegan friendly. The owner delivered my salad with an apology. However, she also came with a baby strapped in a sling in front of her body. In fact, she walked around with the baby talking to customers and dropping off food to a couple of tables. I don't find this to be appropriate or appetizing. My one friend ordered coffee which came out cold and my other friend ordered the banh mi which he felt was very ordinary. I see the positive reviews but I just don't get it. The menu is limited and the waitstaff didn't really know the menu well. Food was meh. I really wanted to like this place but I won't be back, nor will my two dining partners. Eclectic upscale menu; packed for brunch on Sunday. Got there about 12:40 and only waited 10 minutes. Our table enjoyed Creme Brûlée pancakes (complete with hardened sugar on top); their house made turkey burger with perfect breakfast potatoes and Red Velvet Fritters. Bittersweet Kitchen is definitely a sweet treat. The three times I've gone, I've always gotten the Challah Stuffed French toast which is jammed packed with terrible unhealthy delicious goodness with a side of the Rosemary sausage. I will eventually change my meal, but I always say a brunch place is good if they don't screw up French toast and Bittersweet does not. I only have a few gripes, which this is really not a place you want to go for a cheaper breakfast, nevertheless it's worth what you pay. I wish they still had honey for tea, and that you could get easier refills on hot water. Lastly, I usually have to ask for water, which may be so that it doesn't waste, but that gets a little agitating sometimes. Anyway, small qualms aside, Media needed a new breakfast place on the other side of town. Perfect addition! read more

Me and my Boyfriend went for the first time today. We checked out the reviews and the brunch was amazing! We went all out. We got their feta, bacon, cheese omelette, chocolate chip pancakes, sides, bacon and Chedder biscuits. And their home fries. The food was amazing. We ate outside so it was more quiet. The mason jars for our drinks and menu as the bill were cute touches. We had Diane as our waitress she was so attentive and came out to check on us so much. This one is sort of tricky to review. Why make me give a tip before I eat, then find out if you want refills you have to get it yourself - stand in line for it???!!! But the food is pretty good, I have been a few times. I have had the buttermilk pancakes, challah stuffed French toast & the huevos rancheros. All were good. Once it was cold and I asked it to be replaced - they made a new plate instead of reheating like most places do. I have also tried the truffled cauliflower it was really interesting. It used to be that the service was pretty great and paired with good food and ok coffee it made a nice brunch. read more

Great little spot in Media!! If was just open two weeks when I went with a friend. I loved the ambiance! Tables are cozy but not uncomfortable. Seats in some parts are old church pews. The menu was limited but the portion size of the egg white omelette I got was more than enough. My find got the biscuit sandwich which was on the small side but was tasty. They offered fair trade coffee which was delicious. Price was very reasonable and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Def. Recommend this place and will go back again soon!! read more

Bittersweet is really a lovely brunch spot in Media! It only opened a week ago and they're working out the typical logistical kinks but the food is great, the menu alters slightly and makes dining a fun experience there. It is kid-friendly with toys to play with. Food is American-fare with little unique twists-- pancakes but with mango. BLT but with French toast. Cauliflower cheese but with truffle oil. And fresh, changing pastries. The home fries are actually crispy and not sad little soggy discs like they are at Court Diner. Moreover, the owners are lovely. They're actively making the place work with the funds they have and they're doing it really well. I really hope they continue to succeed because it's definitely going to be a brunch staple for us! Totally the best place to brunch in Media! Coffee is amazing. Who needs Starbucks when you can run in here every morning? It does get a little loud when it's full, but it seemed like everyone loved their food and was just having a good time. I had the bbq chicken sandwich, which wasn't actually on the menu, but my waitress told me it was a special today. So good! The bread it was on was really good. The waitress said the chef sometimes adds stuff, which I was glad to hear. I love surprises. Ha ha. The owner was super nice and friendly and the place had a really homey cool vibe. Good experience, would definitely go back. Went for Sunday brunch. Menu was new and fresh. I had fresh toast BLT that was delicious with outstanding potato wedges. My wife had omelette special which she loved. She raved over the fresh baked biscuit. Waitress was sweet and prices ok ($30 with tip). Table was clean but had sticky finish which is annoying to me (but that's just a personal thing). Wait was only 10 minutes and was less time that the hostess told me when I gave her my name. We decided to try Bittersweet Kitchen for breakfast this morning, and I am so sad that we did... Because the food was so amazing that we're going to have to go back there all the time now, and I will become obese from eating the Challah Stuffed French Toast all the time. Seriously amazing meal, and super filling. My boyfriend got the Huevos Rancheros and loved them as well (although we both agreed that the French toast is where it's at!). The only thing is that I felt the bacon could have been slightly more crispy. Will probably be back next weekend, and the weekend after that... why does it have to be so conveniently located near my house?!? read more

Been here twice. The friendly owner was there both times and attending to people, which is nice to see. There isn't a lot of room or seating. So be prepared for a wait at weekend brunch. The tight quarters don't really bother me since I lived in NYC for years, but others may find it annoying. I'm really there for the food, which has been great. Their home fries are perfect! Most places half cook them (a pet peeve) but they cook them until they are crispy, which is the way I like them. Also their hot water for tea is the perfect temperature. I know this probably sounds strange but I hate getting lukewarm water for tea. I can't wait to go back to try more stuff on the menu! read more
