Let's talk bout the Food which looked picture perfect but dont get deceived by it, complimentary bread was cold & hard, bad decision mixing olive oil with balsamic drizzle, carrots & potatoes which came with chicken was undercooked absolutely inedible, Veal chop was under seasoned, calamari & shrimp were drenched in oil not even strained properly, requested no lettuce, tomato & bacon on burger but wasn't listened and not to forget waited 1 hour 30 minutes, plus service was so bad they wouldn't pick up soiled plates and not even asked one time do we need water or soda refills. Enjoyed a wonderful meal with my children. The secret I have learned is to make your reservations nice and early (meaning when you book, not necessarily early in the evening). Destiny was our server and he was very attentive. Kids had soda and I had a glass of Matua ($12). It was fruity and bold for a Sauvignon Blanc. For appetizer we all shared the French onion soup. An oversized crock, with endless cheese and onions. Surprisingly I found myself adding both salt and pepper. Didn't detract from the delicious flavor- perhaps they cater to a crowd palette that is more neutral. I'd order again. Son had chicken fingers and fries off the kids menu (ate them all, shocker). Daughter had Bigsby burger and really enjoyed it and I had the shrimp and grits at the recommendation of our server, Destiny. Do not sleep on the Shrimp and Grits. I know you're going to be lured by the delicious looking chicken parm- trust me, this was a hard decision. It almost came down to a coin flip. On the one hand the chicken parm swimming in spaghetti with vodka sauce kept coming out of the kitchen ordered in popularity much like an assembly line at a wedding with one food choice. But on the other hand, the promise of blacked shrimp, blister tomatoes, chorizo and cheesy grits swimming in pan juice........ so what made me decide? Destiny say the four magic words "if you're looking for a cream dish." Yes, I know, more than 4 words but my brain only heard "looking for creamy dish". All in all I'd revisit Bixbys. When visiting water park restaurants you need to have managed expectations. The staff is going to be grossly UNDERSTAFFED, and working tons of overtime. They are tired. Do not waste your time or money. We were a party of 7, waited 1.5 hours for a table, had to ask how much longer after that and we were sat. Waited almost 2 hours for our food. Asked multiple times where it was, we had 3 hungry kids. Had to ask for our bread 5 times before we got it to get some food in the kids. Food came out 2 meals were burnt, kids pasta ice cold. I could keep going. To top it off our waitress was not pleasant which made the experience worse. Didn't want to bother to answer any questions and would walk away. I am not normally one to write reviews, and in all honesty we did not get to try the restaurant because it was closed. We had reservations made in late November for their Christmas dinner buffet and confirmed on 12/24. However when we got there they were closed - no notice, no call and no warning. Staff of the resort had no clue what we were talking about but I did have email proof. They did let us know another restaurant was having dinner and we ate there. It was very disappointing, food was late coming out, when we asked about butter for the mash potatoes the waitress said she did not think they had any, but luckily she did find 3 pats. Since it was Christmas there were not many other open options. I am sure in years to come we will laugh at this, but this year it was a major disappointment l, and we will never be going back to the resort. read more

As it was what I believe the final day of the Hudson Valley restaurant week participation, the only menu options included the Prix fixe and their normal rotation for kids menus. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed, even being pleasantly surprised by the appetizers (crab cakes and pork bao buns). The food went downhill from there. Heard among the table was the excess, bordering on obscene amount of salt added to the shrimp and grits. As for my steak frites... Quite possibly the worst steak I've had and the plate got carted away with about 75% of the steak remaining...unable to be chewed, let alone cut with a knife. The shoestring fries were tasty though. Can't speak for the dessert which I let the kids tear into the s'mores lava cake that was described as "weird" as the cake part wasn't chocolate and didn't have anything that resembled the runniness of a molten lava cake. Adding a star to the bare minimum 1 for the staff who were attentive, and friendly serving a large family, albeit a bit casual to not even distinguish themselves from a guest at the resort. That whole required reservation thing on a Saturday is laughable as the place was quite empty for what should be peak dinner hours on a Saturday, though I don't know what percentage occupancy the resort had. I don't imagine people are just showing up to basically the middle of nowhere, jonesing a meal at an indoor water park. I know it's a pain in the ass and the last thing you want to do is load up the kids in the minivan or Suburban after chasing them around the water park all day, but you'll do much better in town as little as 10 minutes down the road. In the process, you'll get a better meal supporting a local business (yeah, yeah I know the resort staff (whatever they manage to retain) are local), saving a good chunk of change that you can then drop in the arcade and bring home a pair of Chinese finger cuffs that you spent $250 on. read more

This place is OK at best... the waiters and waitresses were very kind and nice but the food is just so so and the prices are a bit high for what you get. Unfortunately you don't have many options when you are at the resort, so this is probably the best restaurant available. The menu is a bit limited but at least the food seems pretty fresh. We had two meals there and our second meal was subpar. Three of us ordered the salad on the menu and two out of three of us had no chicken in our salad although it said it came with chicken on the menu. One person had tons of chopped chicken in their salad, so it made no sense. When we asked the waitress, she went back to the kitchen and the kitchen staff said all the salads had chicken, but that was obviously a lie. Also the salad sizes were all different as well. Which made no sense. Unfortunately they didn't offer to bring us any chicken or take any money off the bill or even give us something for free which was disappointing. Like I said, you don't have many options at the resort so if you eat at this location at least you have options of OK food (fish, meat and vegetarian, as well as children's options) but nothing will stand out. read more

I was nervous after reading all the horrible reviews. I was pleasantly surprised - we had a great meal. The burger was fantastic! Cooked to perfection with caramelized onions and crispy bacon. My husband had the salmon which he enjoyed. The chopped salad was very good with the right amount of dressing - it was a shallot vinaigrette. The pork buns appetizer was ok - too salty for me. It took away from the flavor. The service was just fine - I will say though they had just opened and we were the first table seated. We were seated in a cozy comfy booth that had a private feel. 7:15 reservations, the time is now 8:45. Still no food, no apps. We were offered croutons...yes croutons will fill my 7 year old niece's stomach. Literally every single table that came in after us got their food. After numerous complaints to multiple people, they offered no resolution. All they said was "there's nothing I can do". BS! How can there be no back up plan? The least they should have done is stop everyone else's order and rush out ours since we've been there for more than an hour. Really sad to leave this review as it started out great but really went downhill fast. We did the Hudson Valley Week special which was $44 a plate. The apps were great but our main was totally cold and we had to ask for our check before we even got the rest of our meal because service was so very slow. Even after asking for the check and the rest to be boxed we have sat here for about 20 minutes just waiting. Had the potential to be great but was just a flop. Had the absolute pleasure of dining at Bixby's at The Kartrite. We enjoyed appetizers of the wedge salad and chicken noodle soup. The noodles were rice noodles piled on top of the soup that literally melted into the soup. The soup was hearty and chock full of chicken. Absolutely delicious. For the main course I had shrimp risotto that was out of this world and the portion could have served two people easily. My husband had grilled salmon with vegetable risotto. Another generous portion and delicious as well. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake which we shared and satisfied our sweet tooth. Service was terrific. Our server Haleigh was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and was extremely attentive to our needs. Our booth was quite large but very cozy at the same time. The food at the restaurant is good. They are also accommodating with food allergies so my nephew was able to have pasta one night and a burger the second night. He requested to have dinner here the second night! I would have given a higher rating, but the chicken parm wasn't fully cooked. It was also odd that it didn't come with pasta. We got up left and went somewhere else. When you have two kids with you waiting 25 minutes for a drink doesn't work for me. I can't imagine how long we would have been waiting for the food. After being seated promptly for our 8:15 reservation, we waited over half an hour to be seen by a server. After finally placing our order, our food took over 1.5hrs to be served. If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Let's start with Fabio who called to confirm our reservations then when we went to ck in for our reservations we were told we never made it. The first night they accommodated is the second night they did not. The first night we where a party of 9 so I get that food can take longer yo come out but we waited over 70 min for 2 Cesar salads order of wings and French onion soup. Then we ordered 4 steaks all came out over cooked and non of the instructions were correct either. One steak was burned charcoal and it only took 90 min for 5 entrees. This is by far the worst restaurant and service I have ever had to deal with all they did for the 3 hour dinner was apologize and give us free items. I would rather have a great meal and pay then have such shitty food and service. First, it might help you to know there is a kids' menu here and at The Kartrite's other restaurant, Harvey Wallbanger's. Both kids' menus offer the same 4 options: grilled cheese, penne with butter, grilled chicken, and spaghetti (which is more like linguine) with a meatball. As for the overall experience, the food is pretty average and a bit pricey for what it is, but your options for dining within the resort are limited. After reading such terrible reviews, we were grateful that our food came pretty quickly. The real issue is the whole resort seems under-staffed. The bar at Bixby's is pretty large and there was one flustered and disgruntled bartender serving the bar (not many people actually at the bar - maybe 3) and filling drink orders for waitresses (there were two for this large restaurant which made getting drink refills a challenge). We signed up to the Paint and Sip right before dinner and cashing in our drink tickets took FOREVER, even when there were very few customers to be served and our drink options were limited to beer and wine. To that point, we were limited by what the bartender was willing to make as opposed to what was available. Overall, our waitress was friendly and kind, the maitre d' was accommodating and jovial, the atmosphere was cozy and warm, and the food was pretty good. read more

Honestly the worsed experience I ever had. First time I had to walk out of a restaurant. I had reservations for 7:15 pm and walked out at 9 pm. During that time resturant wasn't even half full. We ordered our food right away. Then the whole time none of our food came out, nothing. No apps, no soup, salad, and wings, NOTHING for 1hr 30 mins in. During the entire time we asked our waiter and the manager where the food or what's happening. Only response was "I'll check on it" then ducking awaying hiding into the back. We saw people who arrived way after us get their food before us. Again we asked the manager Joe C, he answer "I'll check on it" then says later "I can't do anything about it". Now my kids are falling asleep, hungry, and a ruined daughter's bday dinner cause now its near 9 pm. We leave, go to the front and request a manager they direct us to the food and beverage manager Joe C. The same damn person that we asked multiple times already in the restaurant whats the deal with the food being late. He then asked me what could he have done. I tell he could have been honest and tell us what is going on. Give us some information if something is broken or outage or a big delay. Then I could have decided to leave and find another place because now it's late, other restaurants are closing. Could have comp us drinks while waiting, give out anything to hold out time til food came out like bread, salad, or even freaking muffin or something. Joe insisted that he would've taken care of my meal after I gotten my meal. What meal if it never came out. Why would I care for a free meal if I had to wait 2 hrs on it. He lacks any managerial skills. He had an attitude of tough luck I can't do anything. Even asking the customer what he could've done, since he has no idea how to handle situations himself. I'm so disappointed. I made a reservation for 8:45pm on a Saturday. Normally I like to eat a little earlier but this was the only available time slot. We sit down and the server is friendly and prompt, definitely the one of the only reasons to give any stars. We ordered the chipotle ranch wings and the chipsters for and appetizer, we wanted the crab dip but they were out. The wings were cooked well but the sauce was awful. Think chicken wings tossed in mayo. The chipsters were house made potato chips with some crumbled cheese and a cream sauce, not terrible. For entrees we ordered chicken parm, 10 oz ny strip rare with Gorgonzola , 12 oz steak rare with wild mushrooms and port wine, the concord pastrami sandwich. The chicken was burned and the pasta was so over cooked, it just mushed into nothing in your mouth. The steaks were thin and overcooked. The wild mushrooms with port wine was inedible and the Gorgonzola was brought to me as a slice in a plastic cup. The only person that enjoyed their meal, was the concord sandwich. He had no complaints at all and thoroughly enjoyed it. Over all , I can promise I will not be coming back to Bixby's and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. read more

Being one of the very limited options for food at the Kartrite resort and being a very cold winter night, we decided to have dinner here. First things first, we arrived at 5 and weren't able to have a reservation till 8:45. When we arrived at 8:45 the place was about half empty, leaving us wondering why we couldn't have just ate earlier than the reserved time. There aren't too many things on the menu either. Lastly, food. The burgers were a decent serving which is good acknowledging this is probably what most kids would order. However, I read a review regarding the uncooked chicken pharm, and unfortunately we experienced the same incident. My son complained the food was not well cooked and he was very disappointed of his plate. When I took a look at the meal, it was very soft in texture and did not look appetizing. For the price we paid, I do not think it was worth it at all. If you know of any other place around town I would much recommend that over Bixby's. I really thought this restaurant would be great because it seemed higher end. We got there and the place was dead. Maybe 3 tables were seated including us. Took a while for the waitress to come take our drink order. Then another 15 minutes to get the drinks. There were literally two waitresses and 3 seated tables so there was no reason for it to take that long. I kinda felt bad for her because she seemed stressed. We ordered our appetizers and food. Took about 45 minutes to get the appetizers. The food was very subpar. We got the sliders and the crab cakes. The crab cakes were ok but the sliders were very over cooked. Took another 45 minutes to get dinner. Not once did she come check on us to see if we wanted anything else to drink. She comes out with our dinner before she cleared all the plates from the appetizers. We asked if she could take some plates away and she gave us an attitude. The following day I was sitting at a bar talking to one of the waitresses and she has said that the bus boy does nothing but sit on his phone the whole time. Where is management?!?! Why is no one keeping an eye on the employees?!?? I actually felt bad because the waitresses were trying to do their best but they were talking on the job of the bus boy. We were hesitant based on reviews but we had a great experience! First there was no wait we had reservations from OpenTable. Second, we had the flat bread and Caesar salad to start which was good . My son had the Mac n cheese which came out super quick and he loved it! We had hamburgers and chicken burgers both which were very tasty! The food was not a wait at all.
