Do not sit in the corner of the bar next to the bathroom, unless you want the pipe above you to burst, leading to an entire flushed toilet falling on top of you, ruining your clothes and your night. Management obviously knew about a leak and decided the best way to go about it would be to cover the ceiling with a trash bag. If this is how they address serious health code issues, I don't even want to know what's going on behind the scenes with their food and drink practices. A solid dive bar. Bixby's provides an entertaining bar staff, stiff drinks, TVs galore, and free pool. The back or rear of the bar includes a wide open space that is perfect for private birthday gatherings or barbecues or kickbacks. The bartenders do a good job of keeping the spot lively while people are carrying on. Evelyn and Jeanette did well pouring drinks. Both seemed to take the atmosphere/ambience of the bar and customer satisfaction seriously. The staff made an effort to get the bar ready for Halloween. Someone on the staff painted the restrooms in the spirit of the film The Shining. Signs like "redrum" and "666" were written on the walls in red. Someone definitely achieved the crime scene in a bad horror movie look he or she was going for. Drinks and service were fine. I mostly saw people drinking beer. The barstaff was quick to help me. NO.. not my kind of place. I stopped by around 8pm on Friday night and it was dead. The vibe is like this: remember when you were a teenager and one of the homies threw a kickback in his garage and charged for beers. that's what this place felt like to me. there is absolutely no parking lot the beers on tap are super cold, but it tastes like their lines are dirty and need to be flushed out. the bartender was sweet but spent most of the time texting on her cellphone and not paying attention to the few guests that were there unless they called for her attention. this isn't named for the Long Beach State Dirtbags baseball team.. it's a "biker bar" according to the bartender. read more

Last night was the first time I've been to Dirtbag Bar along with a few friends. It had a chill laid back vibe and I like that. It wasn't crowded for a Thursday night which I also love, but not sure how it gets on other days. They also serve Red Stripe which I don't always find at bars so that's a plus! Oh and they have $5 shots...we had the Mexican Lollipop (watermelon flavor) and it was delicious! Definitely will have that again and try out the other flavors. Listen guys I'm not typically into liquor, I'm not really into any mixed drinks or anything of that sort. However, as I was browsing for a place to watch the Canelo/ChavezJr. fight I came across this place and saw a shit load of reviews about their watermelon drink. I must say, it was outstanding. Perhaps one of the best mixed drinks I had in my life for someone who doesn't drink liquor as often but used to ages ago ;) I ended up having 3 rounds along with my friend. One of the things I was very pleased with was their clean restroom. Also never been to a bar that had such clean restrooms so that was a plus in my book. The bartenders here were really pretty and were super nice as well. Parking kinda sucks but you can't have it all. I had a Great time @ Dirtbag bar last night. Ice cold beer! They serve Lagunitas IPA on tap. My favorite . Good prices too. Free pool table and The DJ was on point. It use to be another bar back in the day. But the new owner totally revamped it. It's a very nice place to come chill and watch a game. What else does a man need? It spacious, more than enough room to chill with friends. All it's missing, is some Bomb I highly recommend this bar. I think this bar will be my new go to spot to chill read more

Due to name and location, I thought it would be themed around the Cal State Long Beach Dirtbag baseball team. Unfortunately there just didn't seem to be much of anything. An uninterested bartender, a broken pool table, and an overall blah vibe. I ordered a Michelada which was fine. My dad's beer was, well, a beer, and my mom's Wardlow Mule was pretty rank. They used an alcohol (I'm assuming a vodka?) that I had never heard of before. Not great. All three drinks were under $20, so the price point seems ok. Saturday night out w my best friend. We were right up the street at Roxannes first but their music got a little weird so we headed out. We then went to 4th street and remembered why we don't have nights out in LB I went on yelp and saw this place, we had initially drove by it at firat and didnt even know it. We drove by and were a little reluctant to go in but we heard them playing PEACHES AND CREAM by 112 and said yeah let's get off!! We go in and have a seat, there's plenty of seating. 1 of the bartenders let's us know they have free popcorn and the pool table was free !! We played pool and the dj was super legit. Playing rap and hip hop all night long. This is for sure my new spot. I kind of wish for it to stay low key (there was like 20 people there. who likes to dance in big sweaty crowds, not I) but i do wish for this business to be successful So anyway, they have 2 restrooms and a cool outside area where you can also hear the music. I stopped by to do my homework and it took a second to connect to the wifi but the bartender and vibes made it worth the wait. Note to self: if all the regulars leave at shift change you should too. I went here on tues and the bartender there when we arrived was great. She left and closed us out after 1 round. Then a new bartender came on, and the place quickly emptied out like the regulars knew something we didn't. The second girl spent 20-30 minutes playing with the popcorn machine and avoiding eye contact. The lack of service cleares more people out. Soon it went from about a descent tues crowd of 20ish to 5. She was clearly in a terrible mood and we felt guilty even ordering, like I was bothering her. It was uncomfortable so we decided to leave. I looked at the check and she had included the first round I already paid for at shift change. Figuring it was an oversight, I asked her. She had a huge attitude told me the check was right, and walked away. She wouldn't even listen to me or explain. She walked away like I was not even speaking. Eventuality after a few more attempts, I paid it and left. Honestly the $11 is no big deal but she was so rude it really pissed me off. Stopped by for a beer recently since I live nearby and NFL playoffs were on. It's a pretty cool sports bar to catch a game and I am hoping then do PPV fights. Interior is new, simple but crafty. Quality beer selection at a better price than Roxanne's down the street. The crowd is more gritty, LBC working class mostly Chicano and Samoan. Likely the Raiders type of fans, no issues everyone seemed chill just there to enjoy game. Having a taco truck out back is a big plus. Jukebox music can get loud to hear folks next to you. Good selection however. I took a star off because there were people vaping inside. That is trashy to me, can you vape in a plane? No. Can you vape in school or government building, No. Why?
