This place has been a go-to breakfast place for years. Normally they greet with a smile, are friendly and provide great service. Lately there has been a trend in the wrong direction. Less smiles, less friendly service and today I had my worst experience yet. I ordered a Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich but the Bacon was forgotten. I brought the sandwich back in, and instead of apologies and making a new sandwich.. the staff just handed me a bunch of cold bacon as if to say "Here you make your $8 sandwich you paid us for." There's a right way to make a cinnamon roll. Then the wrong lazy way. I experienced the latter. I asked for six cinnamon rolls. Lady says she has 6 fresh out of the oven. They were not very consistent as far as shape. No big deal there. Then she proceeds to pour a half gallon of that white s*** on it out of a pitcher full, like she's trying to put out a fire. She was in autopilot and wasn't paying attention to me telling her to hold up nor the look of horror on my face. Product looks like s*** and sitting in a bath of that crap, never again. The donuts at this place are so good. They have a glazed twist with strawberry. I've never seen that before and it was soooo good. This is the best donut place in the area hands down. I have loved this place for so long. It's literally our family's favorite donut shop. Everything had always been fresh and delicious. Recently I made an order through Doordash and got a few donuts, breakfast sandwiches and a mocha. I took a sip of my mocha and something just didn't seem right. The flavor was off and the cup lid was sticky. I removed the lid and there was a cockroach floating in my mocha! I can't not in good conscious ever eat there again. Don't ever disrespect their process and if you must wait in line for hours like it's Black Friday to get your hands on something from behind that glass case, you best be pulling out your lawn chair. We are huge fans of fritters and they had a cranberry raspberry one that we really like. Their apple fritter is good and their apple maple bacon fritter is a bit on the heavy side but worth a try if you like that thing. We also really like their cream puffs! TL;DR: Good innovation. A-okay place to get your donut fix, but the Cinnamon Rolls I had were meh. I came here because a few years ago BJ Cinnamon was on some sort of best donut shops list. I would order again. I also like that they have innovative flavors that change with the seasons. They're definitely thinking outside the box compared to the average doughnut shop and another plus is they post regularly on social media. Bad: The cream puffs were a little too sweet. They're covered in powdered sugar and are light and airy, but the filling inside is way too sweet with the powdered sugar. I guess I'm getting older and my taste buds are changing. These are a perfect treat for kids, but I would not order these for myself. Ordered a few cinnamon rolls (regular and pecan) and brought them home for the family to try. The cinnamon rolls were just okay and not anything special. While I was eating it I noticed that they were kind of flat, like the dough did not rise. It was thin and kind of meh. I'm not sure if something was off or if this is normal, but I would not order this again. I prefer Spinners in Sacramento, their cinnamon rolls are way better. I ask for a cinnamon roll and he pointed out that he had two types available. I chose the bready one. He smiled and put it in a little box, then he asked if I wanted frosting. He hands me my order and I notice two glazed donuts in the bag with my cinnamon roll! Nice touch. So, I'm home and pull out the little box, salivating, but fearful that this treat is going to activate my sensitive gut. Fear and longing! Short story--the amount of frosting was perfect, leading me to think--always trust the owner's recommendation. And, for an unknown reason, this once a year treat did NOT set my gut to roiling. Update: Got some donuts this weekend and boy oh boy was I ever disappointed. When the new owners bought this establishment from Kai, the donuts still tasted really good. However, this could have been because he stayed and showed them the ropes. It's gone downhill in my opinion. We bought some donuts over the weekend and they weren't very good. Also, the apple fritter was soaked in oil. It literally tasted like it sat in a bowl of oil for a few hours. It wasn't edible. Sad that this place is no longer on my list of donuts places. By the way, if anybody misses Kai's delicious donuts, he opened another donut shop in Rocklin called Rocklin Donuts and Cinnamon. The donuts are still superior to so many other places. read more
