We were there on 11/7/24 about 3ish in the afternoon. When we were seated we waited over 10 minutes by the time they asked what we wanted to drink. Then it took a while before my husband got his bottle of beer, it's not like you have to make it! and did not have my drink, it took another while, then we waited for the waitress and finally took our order. I spoke to the manager I told him it was to acceptable to wait this long for our drinks and our order, specially since they were pretty empty, he apologized and that he would make sure our order was done soon. For a restaurant that is not cheap, they should have better service. Never again!! read more

A group of us (number varying from about 4 to as many as 10) have been eating lunch at BJ's Brea every other Wednesday for several years. Besides the food being excellent, one of the reasons we keep returning is because of our waiter, Don. Don is friendly and efficient and he knows all of us by name. On a rare occasion, if an order has to go back for any reason, Don does it with a smile. I wanted to write this review to give Don the credit that he deserves for being an excellent waiter. So much potential... they need a new chef. When I first stepped in I was pleasantly surprised- it's nicer inside than I thought it would be. The server and hostess was pleasant and prompt. Price is also great especially their lunch specials. The food, however, leaves much to be desired. How does one mess up a meatball? My kids couldn't stomach their meatballs because it tasted like "mushy meat". Their calamari was decent but have you tried the calamari next door at the cheesecake- way better and hard not to compare when you can see the other place right in front of you. I had their deep dish which was ok. Nothing was memorable and many was below par. I frequently visit this BJs with friends and I've never received this horrible of service. I've worked in the customer and food service industry for years so I completely understand things can be hectic when it's busy, however it doesn't excuse the constant forgetting to check in with us. We waited about 30 minutes to just put in our food order and were forgotten about multiple times throughout our time there. To end our long awaited meal, we decided from the beginning we wanted to utilize our free pizookie from our rewards as we have been saving them for this. We asked if we could redeem the pizookie with the speciality flavor and our server said she'd put it in on her end to see if it'd go through. It didn't which was no problem at all, but before she could change the flavor she said she would go tell the kitchen to cancel it then come right back. We sat there for 25 minutes. She went to help our neighboring tables during this duration of time. I finally was able to flag her down and ask to put in our order for the free one. At that point our mini pizookies came out that came with our meals and so did the speciality one in a normal size. She immediately told the food runner to only give us the personalized one. She then took our flavor order and we asked how long it'd take since our personalized ones came out. She said not long, it took over 35 minutes. At this point the restaurant was dead. She also dropped a spoon and when asked to get another she offered me a plastic one and was confused as to why I asked if I could receive a metal one. This took 10 minutes. I've never experienced service like this before especially with no apologies whatsoever. After attending this place for years I'm sad to say I won't be returning due to the experience Alexis gave us. read more

About 15 minutes for my cocktail and then I ordered the $13 meal deal they have and the chicken parm was utterly disgusting. Hardly any cheese, one dollop of sauce and the breast was like white rubber. Grossed me out. Then we ordered our mini pazookies and after paying they never came out. After 20 minutes we just left. I usually enjoy coming here but was absolutely disappointed when I had my prime rib weekend dinner and found a HAIR BALL! in my salad. The manager came out and said "wow that's interesting" and asking if I wanted a new salad. She never apologized or came back. Our waiter "Cody" was amazing and tried to do everything he could but the manager Casey told him not to take anything off the bill or discount anything. She never came back out again to even bring the new salad or apologize at all. Had to ask the front of the restaurant for her name as she was no where to be found. We sat in the bar area and had great service. The food was tasty and warm. I tried the protein and quinoa bowl with chicken. It was so good I took the picture after starting to enjoy my food. My friend got the sliders with fries, which she said were delicious. The place was a little too noisy with all the TVs going, plus music, plus tables so close that you struggled to have your own conversation without hearing others. Me and my friends have been coming to this location at least once a month and have never had this bad of an experience or server. Our server, Alexis forgot about us numerous times, and took over 20 minutes to acknowledge us and take our order. I wanted to use my rewards to redeem a free pizookie where I asked if we could do the seasonal one, she said she didn't know and would check which is fine and then told us it didn't but still put the order through so we said we'll use the reward for a different one and then and she said that she had to immediately go to the kitchen to cancel that one. She took about another 15-20 minutes to come back and our meal deal pizookies were already almost coming out. My friend had wanted ice cream on the side but didn't get to tell her because she just left us. She then asked before it came out and our server said no because they're probably already being made. 5 minutes later the mini pizookies came out and I asked about how long she thought the other one would take, to which she said very quick because the rush had just passed. We then waited 35 minutes for it and were completely done with the others (we wanted to share the different flavors). She offered no apology and gave my friend attitude when she was dropping off the pizookie and had dropped one of the spoons and my friend asked for another to which she offered plastic because it might be quicker? We came to dine here on Sunday evening. We were given an estimated wait time of about 30 mins. We were sat. Our server wasn't very engaging and we had to flag her a couple times. The food on the other hand was great and the value for what we paid was fair. My son got a pizza from the kids menu. He received some fruit and a some bread as a starter. He then got his pizza which was his entree and fries as his side. The meal also included his drink for only 6.95, that's a steal. We are rewards members on the app and we redeemed a free pizookie. I would definitely recommend downloading the app and making an account if you come here frequently. Overall, the restaurant is loud and would be a great place for happy hour. My family and I eat at this BJs pretty regularly mid week because they have a good meal where my wife and I can he dinner for right around $20. We generally don't have to wait to long to be seated which is good because both my kids are under 5 and get hangry if they have to go to long without food. The reason for this review though is the stand out service we received from Cody the last three times we came here. Cody is great with our kids as we teach them how to order and behave in a restaurant. He is attentive and regularly checks on the table. We don't live near BJ's in Brea but we were in the area so we thought we would check it out. We had such a great time and our server Raymond was awesome and gave us top tier service the whole time. He recommended some of his favorite dishes, one was the deep dish nachos which we tried and really enjoyed. He even asked if we wanted to customize anything on our order to make it just how we liked it. On top of that, he let us know about the loyalty program, which we'll definitely be signing up for. Raymond was super friendly, checked in often, and made sure we always had what we needed. Aside from the long wait, we had a great experience here! My daughter got a free kids meal from bjs for the reading program so we decided to finally redeem it! She enjoyed her chicken tenders and fries! They have certain specials on weekdays and we ordered the ribs. The ribs were pretty good but I thoroughly enjoyed all the sides! They were delicious and in gigantic portions. I loved the special touch that they have with kids as they gave my daughter one of those rubber bracelets for being an awesome reader. We ate lunch at BJ's and had a great time! They were very accommodating for our group of 4 adults, 2 toddlers, and an infant with a stroller. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival and were able to order drinks quickly and food shortly after. All of our food dishes were excellent. I forgot to take a picture of our ahi poke appetizer and seared ahi salad but I would highly recommend both of those dishes. Pictured are buffalo wings that I'd rate 9/10, fish tacos I'd rate 7/10, and S'mores pazookie 10/10.
