Overall, the food is decent, and there is a decent selection of beer on tap / in bottles. Employees are for the most part very attentive. Food and drinks always make it out in a timely fashion. One thing I can't wrap my head around is why you refuse to turn the sound on for an NFL night game? I know it isn't a sports bar, but the set up is fantastic for a game given the seating, and the placement of your billion inch TV screen. You are without question doing yourself a disservice by splitting the screen into 4 smaller screens with no sound for a Monday night game. That will deter a lot of people from coming to your establishment. Take me for example. I walked in last night, asked if the sound was going to be on, and was told no before I could finish my question. I spent 100 bucks across the street. Great burgers! Very possibly the best hamburger choices in the entire region! They've got one of the largest menus I've ever seen. The thing could become a lethal weapon in the event of a barroom brawl! The food is definitely above average. Lots and lots of choices. If you're dieting, you may want to avoid this establishment. As for the atmosphere ... Well, it's more akin to a military mess hall than a fine dining restaurant. A lot of noisy people noisily eating and sloshing suds. Nice bar appropriately separated from most of the eatery seating. And, of course, it's equipped with the obligatory sports television sets. I'm not particularly crazy about the steaks. I agree with the reviewers who said this place has gone downhill. Case in point is what happened when we came for a birthday dinner one Saturday night in July. They were obviously understaffed in the kitchen, or should I say overwhelmed? One of our kids had to wait nearly an hour for his pizza-- apparently because they made a mistake and gave it to someone else, even though it was a special order. I asked for a burger without mayo, and when it came an hour later, it had a ton of mayo. I sent it back, waited 30-40 min, and it came back without any of their sauce. When I cut into it, it was burnt and inedible. At that point I was the only one in the party who had not eaten yet, and everyone was done. The manager apologized and didn't charge us for my burger, but I guess they were ok that someone came to their restaurant and sat there for 2+ hours, watched everyone else eat, and left hungry. To be fair we had better experiences in the past. But I am not returning or recommending this place to anyone. We used to enjoy this restaurant...our visit tonight was just so so. As soon as you enter the place you can smell that "not very clean smell". BJ's is good solid food. An extensive menu, but lots of good food. I just had the Bacon Guacamole Burger Deluxe, which was great. It had a nice grill taste to the burger. I ate it on a gluten free bun, which was ok. I suspect the regular bun is much better. I also had a Tortilla Soup instead of fries. This place is an absolute delight to dine at!! I went for lunch with my fiancé's family and it was wonderful!!! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! So many options too!! We came out for our Veteran's Day dinner. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive (in the beginning). We ordered two steaks that both came with asparagus. One of the steaks came out lovely cooked just right. The other came out over cooked and the asparagus looked like blades of charred grass. The sad thing was that we had a side-by-side comparison of the two steak dishes that should have been obvious to the staff. The other steak was served missing it's shrimp which took another 10 minutes to come out. They finally brought-out a new steak and asparagus of which was acceptable, but the steak was still over cooked. One of the entrees came with a free desert, but it ended-up a separate charge on the bill. The waitress eventually took it off but was very put-out by the fact we asked for the correction. The manager did comp the second overlooked steak meal. Oh, and I never did get that coffee I asked to go with my desert! I am really surprised to see all the negative reviews. I have been to BJ's multiple times and never had an issue. The only time where service was slow was when our waitress had a table of 20 but she told us before hand so it didn't bother me. The beer is pretty decent and the bar can pretty much make anything you want. I have had everything from the crispy jalapeno burger, pizza, balsamic glazed chicken, and the Mediterranean chicken pita tacos with no complaint. So it started with the conversation of let's grab some to go and bring it back to the hotel because we didn't want to sit in a restaurant for an hour. We go online and order a chicken tortilla soup and blackened Cajun pasta. At 6:55 it says your order will be ready at 7:45. Wow. Okay. So we go up there early thinking it might come sooner than an hour. We get there and sit at the bar and have a drink. We tell the hostest who we are and where we'll be. She comes up a couples of minutes later saying that the online order system doesn't show up until it's closer to when our food should arrive. So we tell her our order. We wait a full hour. She never stops by and is nowhere to be found. When it comes out I only see the soup and ask where is everything else and she says it's already inside the soup. So all of the avocado and tortilla strips and cheese are sitting in hot soup. Brilliant. I tell her that it's not right and should be on the side. She goes back and the bartender agrees that it was just put together wrong. No exaggeration a full ten more minutes later she saunters out with an "I don't give an eff" attitude. We take it and leave. Get back to the hotel and my husband's meal is completely wrong. They didn't even put the chicken on the pasta. The soup tastes like she just used the soggy tortilla soup and put more stuff on the side. Come on people! It's pasta and a pre-made soup!!! Be prepared to wait...forever! There is almost always a line and they'll tell you it's 15 minutes when you'll really wait close to an hour. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. The food is good, not great, and honestly isn't worth a wait. The pizookie is great but even that isn't worth the long wait to get seated and then the longer than average wait to get your food. The waiters and waitresses are very nice but that doesn't help when you're beyond hungry by the time you get your food. The worst part is that they're slow even when they have tables open! read more

It was our second time in this restaurant, the first time everything was great! This time it was totally opposite we ordered the guac burger and shrimp tacos with mozzarella sticks. The shrimp tacos were delicious, but the burger I asked for no jalapeños, but the waiter never mention that the guac also had jalapeños, so that was a little upsetting, I also asked for my burger to be well-done and when I cut it in half it was still red. So I returned it and after that the waiter attitude changed. My husband and I met another couple for dinner on Saturday night. We called during the week and were told they only accepted call ahead seating. No problem. We called at 5:30 and were warmly greeted. Upon arrival, we were told a 30-40 minutes wait. Approximately 20 minutes later, I watched a woman and her 2 young children arrive. When her husband came in, about 20 minutes later, they were seated. We were confused and went to see why that occurred. We were told there were only 4 more groups in front of us. We ended up waiting an hour and a half. While the food was good, it was absolutely NOT worth the wait and the aggravation of seeing other people seated before people who had waited a much longer time. There are far too many good restaurants in Frederick to tolerate this kind of behavior. In the futuer we will return to more of the restaurants downtown, where they value your business. read more

The main reason to visit BJ's is for the beer selection but the food is a good second reason. I've never had bad food at BJ's -- I tried their fish and chips because so many people raved over them but I realized I'm not a fish and chips person. The fish and chips were cooked fine, tasted fine, just not my thing. Every other food item I've ordered at BJ's has been good. The beer selection is a really nice plus. Oddly, everyone likes the pizza but I've yet to have pizza from BJ's. The table to our left had a party of 4, and they were there before us. They got served around this time - except 1 person didn't receive their meal. 7 pm came and still no food. No updates or refills from our waiter. She didn't stop by our table once since we placed our food order. Table on the left finished their food, but the 1 person still did not receive their meal. 15 minutes of so later when we were about to walk out, our food came. And it was burned. Badly. I got a chicken dish and my fiance got ribs. Chicken was scorched black and the ribs had zero flavor. Ribs were also burned. Meal was awful. My finace ordered a full rack, ate two ribs and a few fries and got a box to go. . . By this time the table on our right, who were also here before us, got served. A manager came over and apologized to them and offered them free dessert. Table on the left, manager also came and apologized and offered free dessert and other food for the party since the 1 person still didn't have their food. No one came and apologized to us or offered us compensation. When we were getting up to leave, our waiter finally asked if we wanted a refill. . . No, no we didn't, we don't want anything from this place ever again. We went home and both had stomach problems from the food. Had to throw the boxed ribs out. I really don't understand why this restaurant has such low reviews. I have been there at least 10 times since they've opened and I have great experiences every time. I will admit sometimes the kitchen has some issues but the staff and management always makes up for it. My most recent visit was last week and I went out with a few of my friends from work. I ordered the new chicken and spinach quinoa meal and everything about it was great. I also had one of their seasonal watermelon mojitos-ugh, so tasty. My friends shared a deep dish pizza and enjoyed a couple local beers they offer and were also very pleased. Our waitress was Mahala? She was very knowledgeable about the menu/beer menu and very friendly but not overbearing. She gave great recommendations and I chose 2 of them. My family also enjoys coming to BJS at least once a month if not more. They have such a huge menu selection-something for everyone and when you go you must try the pazookie dessert!!! Extremely disappointed. Draught choices were missing and the kitchen was confused if they were out of ribs or not. Eventually they served ribs that were way overcooked and barely edible.
