Coming back from Dana Point Harbor with the my son and wife a traditional hike at Dana Point beach area to the cave which we made to the cave. We traveled molten parkway to El Toro Rd. We were seated and promptly our Alana our wait staff was at the table asking what drinks we would like. I got a crafted root beer my wife strawberry lemonade and my son got Orange cream crafted My wife ordered roasted Salmon and my son and I ordered prime ribs special. I had tortilla soup which was very good as well as my wife. Broccoli chedder my sone say it was cheddery As our food came plating was great salmon look fresh and prime rib look good with a little fat but I didn't mind. Parking is plentiful and it warmed this veteran's heart that there is a designated parking space in the very front of the restaurant honoring Purple Heart recipients. (I'm not one but I have the utmost respect for them) Bravo, BJ's. Thank you. There's a nice big fountain in front. This is one of the nicest BJ's we've ever seen. It's very expansive and has great architectural details like huge arched windows, wood beams, high ceilings, and brick walls. When we entered, Liza, the sweet hostess greeted us warmly and directed us to a booth. Our server was Amy, and she took great care of us. I ordered the soup & salad combo. Namely chicken tortilla soup & a regular salad with ranch dressing. My husband opted for the small personal pepperoni pizza. We shared the delectable, freshly baked Chocolate Chip Pizookie with vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed dining here and wouldn't hesitate to return. We come here a lot, and seldom have an unpleasant experience. However, today was exceptional. The place was busy, but we were seated right away. Our server, Alina, was one of the best servers I've ever had! She made great suggestions, kept our glasses full, and was just an altogether pleasant person. She remembered that one of us likes lemon in our water and the other doesn't, and brought lemons when she filled our water. She took care of all of the little things that add up to a lovely dining experience, and she deserves way more than just an "atta boy!" I hope she gets it. read more

Had a great experience with ordering via app. I used to love their deep dish pizza. I ordered a half of the works/chicken bbq (kids fave). It wasn't as I remembered it, likely because take out isn't always the best representation of the meal as it took a good 20 min. To get home and the pizza isn't piping hot as usual. The wedge salad was okay. Reasonably priced Got my husband the Slow Roasted beef dip, came with fries. We got the pizookie deal 3.14 with a Shareable pizza for pi day! + an extra kids sized pizookie for the little. Service was great. Checked into the app when I arrived for curbside pickup. They were happy to get some a few sides of ranch for my pizza that I forgot to comment on the order. I love how you can gain points with your order and it looks like I have $10 off my next order! Came out to have pie on pie day. Ordered a pizza and got to have an order of pizzokie for $3.14. The boys devoured the pizzokie in a blink of an eye. Our server was attentive and checked in with us on our order and food delivery. We had lots of order starting with wings, pizza, pasta, burger, and tri-tip with ribs. A homie and I "sniffed in" here for the $13 special menu... Given the current heinous pricing of everything any legit deal is hard to pass up. Thankfully this proved tastier than Chili's lackluster deal meals. We ordered the SMASHBURGER w/fries and MINI PIZOOKIE meals. There were two (2) patties on each burger, and they were generous with the cheese versus Chili's who is cheap with the cheese. I believe because they are smashburgers you cannot choose "cook to order" (ex. medium-rare) but we did not ask anyway. I am not a big fan of smashburgers generally speaking as squeezing the juice out of a burger is sacrilegious in my world but in "health nut Cali" it is apparently -- "perfectly normal, perfectly healthy". There were a good amount of chopped lettuce and thousand island type sauce. The bun is a pretty nice quality buttery brioche thinner type bun. The fries were a modest but appropriate amount. None were crisp and they could benefit from some use of oil. The ranch dipping sauce helped. I went with the CHOCOLATE CHUNK MINI PIZOOKIE. Bear in mind, I am a multi-decade amateur baker and recipe creator. The cookie was nicely browned with small semi-sweet looking chocolate chunks in it. It was good and crisp in the pan. There was a good-sized scoop of French vanilla looking ice cream on top. For my palate both the ice cream and cookie were too sweet. They tasted pretty good, but the sugar stuck out more than the flavors which is counterintuitive. In hindsight, I was very glad the portion was small. I knew the caramel would be too sweet, so I did not even consider it. I will try the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE PIZOOKIE next time. SERVICE STAFF are great and the HOSTESSES are lovely. My buddy got the SALTED CARAMEL MINI PIZOOKIE and he liked his. But his tolerance for sweet is much higher than mine. The wear-and-tear on the restaurant is especially noticeable in the restrooms that should likely be torched completely and redone. But that is a legit undertaking. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at BJ's in Laguna Hills today. I sat in my car for over 20 minutes trying to place a lunch order through the app. Every payment attempt was denied using multiple different cards, even though I've used the same app successfully at other BJ's locations with no issues. Following the app instructions, I called the restaurant for help. After sitting on hold for another 10 minutes, the call dropped. At that point I had already wasted over half an hour just trying to order lunch, so I finally walked inside and asked to speak with a manager. The manager, Oaf, listened to my explanation and responded very dismissively: "I just run a restaurant. I don't know about the technical stuff," and pointed me to the counter to place my order. No apology, no concern, no acknowledgment of the time wasted--just passed me off to someone else. Then after explaining the exact same issue again to the employee taking my order, his response was basically, "Oh yeah, the app doesn't work... just for future reference." If employees already know the app has issues at this location, why are customers expected to waste time trying to use it? Why not post a notice, update the app, offer alternatives, or at minimum apologize? I wasn't asking for a free meal. A simple "Sorry for the inconvenience," a small discount, or even "We're aware and working on it" would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the complete lack of ownership and customer service turned what should have been a quick lunch into a frustrating experience. Maybe my expectations are higher since all the locations I go to or normally in San Diego. Today's lunch was definitely a bust. I've never had to throw my lunch out but today this mess will go off a cliff. OK, maybe a trashcan but believe me. I definitely wanna throw this experience and meal along with the customer service in the first trashcan I walked by. This location lost my business, and I'll stick to other BJ's locations moving forward. read more

Picked up our daughter for lunch and we ended up at BJ's. Definitely did not disappoint on a Sunday. Parking was plentiful and clean. Establishment is bright, clean, and spacious. The hostess was friendly-enough. It didn't appear to be overly crowded but looked like they were filling out the backend of the restaurant as that was where we got seated. Eh. I ordered the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl, my daughter got the Chicken Burger w/side of fries, and my husband ordered BBQ Wings and Fries. I was pleasantly impressed with how everything tasted so good! The fries were seasoned so well, the bread bowl was toasted to perfection and went so well with the clam chowder. My daughter said her classic crispy chicken sandwich was also tasty and good. We couldn't leave without trying one of their "limited" famous pizookie - Butter Finger flavor. So good! Don't sleep on this place. This will definitely be on our food rotation! read more

Their long-time "ROCK STAR" bartender Jill has moved on to greener pastures (how could they let that happen after all these years and so many happy Customers), and they've done away with their lunchtime "$5 beer specials". Stopped by on a Friday at noon during the FIFA world cup (was worried that I wasn't going to find a seat), and to my relief, the resturant was only at ~ 25% capacity. Several open chairs at the bar, mid-bar, right in front of the TV, no problem... Errr, good news for me, questionable for BJ's... I was staying with my son, who lives in this area, and we felt like pizza.  He placed a to go order of Pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms; Boneless Wings (Hot Honey Buffalo and Lemon Pepper Sesame Dry Rub); Kid's meal - Fettuccine with chicken; and a Big Twist Pretzel with Beer Cheese.  The pizza and boneless wings were very good!  Unfortunately, the Pretzel was way overcooked and hard as a rock.  I managed to eat a few bites.  The beer cheese was sooo good!  He called BJ's and spoke with a manager.  He told her how horrible the pretzel was, and she kindly reimbursed him.  Next time, I'd like to eat at the restaurant so I can get a soft pretzel! read more

BJ's off El Toro continues to prove why it's a reliable favorite. We were lucky enough to have London as our server and she was fantastic from start to finish. Attentive without hovering, genuinely kind, and full of great recommendations. She suggested the prime rib and she was absolutely right. The vibes inside were great as always. We started with the chicken gyoza, and they were really good. The pot stickers were flavorful and the crispy fried rice paper on top added a great texture that elevated the whole dish. A small detail that made a big difference. The prime rib was exactly as promised. Tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Comfort food done right. My friend ordered the Parmesan chicken with mashed potatoes, but she has Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and was unsure if the chicken was fully cooked. This is where the experience really stood out. London immediately involved her manager, Ulf, who was exceptional. He reassured us that the chicken was fully cooked and repeatedly offered to replace it if needed. We ultimately trusted him and declined the replacement. Even so, Ulf went above and beyond and later came back to let us know he had removed the dish from our bill entirely. That level of care left us with such a warm feeling about the entire experience. This was not my first time here, and it definitely will not be my last. Great food, amazing service, and a team that truly cares about their guests. read more

Everyone comes for the discounted Pizookies and it creates chaos. - restaurant is crowded and even though they appear to be fully staffed, the bottleneck is the kitchen - they use the same oven to make the pizookies and the pizzas / flatbreads. So what does that create? Long waits. And people in your party waiting for their food (which arrives cold) because they want to serve all the tables food at the same time. I no longer visit on Tuesdays Every other day: - I have always been satisfied with the servers / support in the restaurant - this location is near Laguna Woods, so an older clientele. The servers have always shown patience and helpfulness. - the kitchen tends to undercook meat. Medium often comes out rare. This is the same for steak and for burgers. I give the management credit for hiring / training their servers well. This place would be much better with a more consistent product coming out of the kitchen. read more

We had a party of 7 adults and 1 baby and we requested the patio. They sat us in 1 booth and we definitely didn't fit, but the hostess walked away. We had to go inside and ask someone to put an extra chair so that all of us could sit comfortably, which took a while so we were just standing around the table for a while. Our waiter was nice. We ordered the fish and chips which was crispy and well cooked. And we got the wings which were extremely salty and dry. Wouldn't recommend the wings. read more

BJ's is always a great time especially for the pazookies!! I got the deep dish ziti and the Italian Chicken Parmigiana Pasta. The Italian pasta was okay and well cooked but the sauce was not my favorite personally. It tasted a bit watered down but with added oregano to try and maintain some taste to it. The deep dish ziti is in fact not ziti but instead penne noodles. Which is not that big of a deal but I probably would have gotten something else had I known this before. It was very good and flavorful, loved the sauce and amount of cheese used for the baked portion of the meal! Ambiance was very busy when we got there at around 6pm but a table for 2 only took about 5-10 minutes to get seated. I will be coming again and trying something else next time but overall it was an okay experience with the food and excellent experience with the service. read more

This BJ's location continues to disappoint regularly, yet somehow I keep showing up- ugh! I love the $13 meal deal and I only come to this location when visiting a family member in this area. The food is always consistent and good. I've never been happy with the service here though. Tonight we had Dollee and she just flat out was a bad server, to be frank. Took an extreme amount of time to bring out every item we ordered. Walked past us a ton without checking in. Left our waters completely empty and when we asked for a refill it still took 5+ minutes to return. There was a good 15+ minutes between finishing our food and having a completely cleared off table before she even took our pizookie orders. Lastly, there was a child in here soliciting chocolate for his basketball team, without any parents around and she acknowledged him and let him continue approaching her table until another more competent employee understood that that is wrong/ she said is not allowed. Service here today was nice, but really slow. We had a couple of questions about the meal at different times and it took a long time to get responses. At one point we agreed as a table to not ask any more questions because we just wanted to eat. But the person helping us was nice. Good was pretty good. I tried the seared ahi tuna salad and a side of fries. The sear on the tuna was great, and I liked the crust. I should have gotten the dressing on the side because they drenched the salad, and the taste was pretty sharp. I also tried my son's strawberry shortcake pizookie and that was pretty good! nice warm cookie on the bottom, ice cream, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. Yum. Prices weren't too bad. Came here on a Saturday night, and it was lively but not overwhelmingly busy. We waited less than 15 minutes for a table, which was great. The atmosphere was fun--tons of football games were playing, so it felt like a nice, chill vibe. Our server was super attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. Our food came out pretty quickly--within 15 minutes of ordering. My boyfriend had the lemon pepper chicken wings. Unfortunately, they weren't the best. They were a bit too oily for our liking, though at least they were cooked through, considering how busy it was. I went with the California chicken club sandwich, which was huge and pretty delicious. Definitely had to take half home for later. My boyfriend also took his leftover wings with him, so plenty of food for the price! Overall, a great spot for a Saturday night out. August 9th, 2025 I want to start by saying that the service needs to be improved. The waitress needs to be able to communicate with the customer. The waitress did not tell us that the food would come out at different times, and I'm not talking about 5-10 minutes. I'm talking about 20-30 minutes. The first three dishes from our party came out at 7:00 p.m. Our party's next set of plates didn't come out till 7:30 p.m., thirty minutes after the first three guests were served. So the three guests finished their food before getting our food. When we finally got our food, everything was lukewarm or cold. One of the people in our party got a super cold and bland steak. No seasoning and cold. It looks like it was just sitting there for a long time. She sent it back, and the sliced steak was better. It came fully seasoned and with chimichurri sauce. And one of the guests from our party experienced the same thing with his steak, but he had to wait another 30 minutes. By the time he got his steak, we had already gotten our Pazookis. We asked for ketchup and sauces from our waitress, but they never came. We had to get up and ask the other guest at another table to borrow their ketchup.
