This review is about the Laurel Town Center location. Wife and I happened upon this place by accident; we were trying to go to the Kogi Underground Korean BBQ restaurant just up the street but were asked to leave because it was 5 minutes before they were due to open. The door was open so we walked in, only to walk back out a few minutes later. The server, one we hadn't seen before, asked us to wait outside and then come back in when they were officially open. We decided we'd look around, maybe have a drink elsewhere and return but I was so put off by that server that after pulling up at the bar at BJ's we decided to look at the menu. I'll be honest with you, we hadn't realized this place was even there- we normally head straight for Kogi and so hadn't really looked around up to that point. We left our car in front of Kogi and just strolled down and happened upon BJ's; there's one in the Bowie Town Center, but we hadn't been to that one either so wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant looks fairly new still but that whole area is relatively recent. I remember when it was Laurel Mall; I had moved to the area back in 2000 and moved away in 2002 and much of the development occurred after that. Anyway, upon walking in it is obvious the place is fairly new with a large, inviting bar and dining room that spreads out from the front entrance. The restaurant is fairly sizeable and sits on the corner so I should've seen it before, but never noted it. We went for the bar, still thinking of grabbing a drink and then heading back but after taking a look at the menu we decided to eat here, too. Most places we go to for the first time, we usually order something that should be fairly standard- we're mostly interested in how it comes out and if we like what we've had, we'll normally go back. We still weren't sure if we were going to head back to the other place and decided why not, lets try something. We ended up going for the sliders appetizer, what's more basic than that, right? We asked for bacon to be added. They came in a grouping of four, each one crowned by a piece of crispy bacon, dill pickle, lettuce, onion and ketchup, surrounded by hot crispy fries. They were so good! So we ordered another round of them with fries and enjoyed our drinks. They have a nice selection of choices for liquor and a varied amount of beer on tap; some local brews mixed in with more recognizable brands. My wife tried the BJ-branded Brewhouse Blonde while I opted for the Tatonka Stout, another BJ's exclusive. The beers were excellent; my wife liked the Blonde so much we ended up getting a growler to go, the smaller one. Should've gotten the larger one! You can get a growler of any of their branded beers and it isn't that expensive - I'd recommend trying all of them and getting a growler of your favorite. Overall, it was a very positive experience- excellent service at the bar, great food and drink, clean and spacious restaurant- I have a feeling we'll end up back there. read more

Met up with my uncle. We got a bottle of Moscato which was solid. The wings were ok nothing special. I've been here on many occasions and the food is normally delicious. Decoded to try something ne woth the peanut soba noodles. It was very tart and sour which was unexpected. Had to get some rice cause the flavor was very overpowering. Overall had a great experience, would definitely go back but probably won't be getting the noodles again. The service was solid. Did not have any issues with the staff or anything. First time trying this restaurant and it was pretty good. I ordered a honey crisp salad and chicken. The dinner salad was a shareable size and pretty tasty. The one pet peeve I have is them placing the dressing cups directly on my salad ! Not sure why restaurants do that, it would be nice to just place them in a separate little plastic bag. The chicken thighs I ordered looked just like the photo on the menu....you know for those of us who are visuals . The chicken had a crisp skin but moist and cooked with a glaze. I chose pepper bbq sauce... I was thoroughly impressed because I never order thighs unless they're cooked by me. Everyone else in my family, seemed to like their choices too(pics shown). This was my first time eating at BJ's in years, but I'm glad the food and service is still good. My go-to has always been the deep dish pizza, so I decided to get the mini as a starter to share with my guest. But because I wanted to try something different for my main, I decided to order the jambalaya. I was actually impressed. I have only had jambalaya maybe a couple of times in my life, so I can't really judge or fairly compare it to others, but I can say that was seasoned very well. It was spicy, which I like, and there was enough flavor in every bite. I only got the jambalaya with shrimp, and the kitchen was very accommodating to my request of no meat, so they gave me extra shrimp. It sat on top of rice pilaf, and the jambalaya stew included peppers and onions. It was really good! read more

Stopped here on a recent trip to Baltimore. Looked nice and clean when we first walked in. That's about the only good thing I can say about it. We were led to our table by a hostess, and then waited at least 20 minutes for our waitress to come. It wasn't busy. Only about a quarter of the tables were occupied. Why it took so long is beyond me. My friend and I each ordered a beer and split a pizza. At least this time we didn't have to wait 20 minutes, but once our drinks and pizza came, it was another 45 minutes before we saw our waitress again. We actually had to flag down another waitress to get a 2nd beer. Although the pizza was pretty good, we both ended up with pretty bad heart burn later that night. Between that and the horrible service, I can't recommend this place. read more

Came in here one time before and both times took forever for a waiter to greet us. I decided to give it one more chance. This time the hostess at the front noticed the first place she sat us no one had greeted us then she moved us to another seat after a few more minutes we were finally greeted. When we tried to order our drinks we were told we had to move once again to the bar in order to get anything happy hour. The food was pretty good. Enjoyed the sliders, Brussels. All of that. But omg I had the worst waiter of all time. Not sure if they were just under staffed, it didn't seem to be the case. My waiter took his sweet time to bring everything and seemed to be socializing. I say I don't think it was super busy because when I asked one of the other servers for something because mine was taking long she got it right away. I'm not even a person who is hyper critical of servers. I am very patient. But things like taking a super long time to bring my drink, I had run out and I do like to have my drink with my meal, my throat was dry by the time this guy showed up. It was just terrible. I ordered the chicken club sandwich. The first time it came out with avocado on one side and chicken on the other. When I picked up the sandwich (avocado and not knowing it was all avocado) the sandwich all fell apart in my hand. When I looked inside that's when I clearly saw one side had chicken and the one with avocado barely any meat. Asked them to fix it again better and when it came out, the bread was all soggy. Then I just ordered a half of ribs to go because I was irritated at this point. Took them over 30 minutes and then they still messed up the bill. About a month ago, I was at the bar. The bartender didn't know what the heck she was doing. I ordered a pretzel which took 20 minutes to come out. The bartender spent a lot of time doing a lot of nothing and getting nothing done. The so-called cook came out with the pretzel after 20 minutes waiting he was insolent. Some friends and I came here for a Birthday Happy Hour. I've to this location a handful of times before and haven't had a bad experience. The drinks were very good, and our waitress took great care of our group. (I'm sorry that I didn't ask her name for the review). Aside from my Long Island Iced Tea, which was good, I also ordered some food. I had the Lemon Pepper wings and a side of fries. I liked that I was able to get all "drums" too because I'm not a fan of flats. The Lemon Pepper seasoning is a dry rub. It wasn't overly lemony either which tasted good. I really enjoyed them a lot. I didn't have any of the beers on the menu this time around. I've had them in the past and the Loose Canon IPAs are good. The Long Island was well made as was the vodka and soda that I had. I'm sure I'll be back since I live in the area. Maybe next time I'll have a Loose Canon and one of their delicious Pizzas! read more

I came to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse on a Saturday night with a large group of friends after attending a concert nearby. The restaurant was not super packed, but we waited for 10 minutes or so for seating to be prepared for us. The menu selection is HUG, which is great for accommodating large groups. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo which comes with chicken, fettuccini, alfredo sauce, broccoli and parmesan cheese. I was disappointed with my order... the chicken was dry and overcooked. The broccoli was undercooked as well -_- The parmesan was topped on the plate, but barely melted. The best part of the meal was the buttered, garlic bread roll. The service here was average... food came out slowly and unfortunately not at the same time. Some of us started eating first so our food would not get cold... it was awkward timing. Horrible service! It took about 20 minutes to get greeted and for our drink orders to even get taken. It took another hour and half t get our food. Our pasta was really dry, as if they forgot to put the Alfredo sauce on it. We were not given any silverware so that further delayed us as we had to wait for the waiter to come back and then for her to actually bring us some and when she did, it was only for one person rather than our entire table. I'm not sure what happened to this place but they use to be really delightful. My last and final visit the service was friendly and kind, but it did not make up for the food served. My medium well steak was burnt not mention the barely sautéed onions and mushrooms. My "chicken tortilla soup" soup came to the table with no tortillas and a hair hanging right in the bowl. Last November 2023 I went to buy the burger brisket and asked to cook well done. It was carryout order. I get home, got ready to eat it and it was charred burnt. I go back to speak to manager and it was a woman at the time. Giving her clerk and me a hard time about me complaining how burnt it was. I brought it back to them and was asked to leave email and I would get a ten dollar credit well nothing ever became of it no apologies nothing so the answer is NOO WAY WOULD I GO BACK THERE. I think the only positive thing I have to note is the hostess who seated us. She was friendly. And the bathrooms were clean. The waitress I had, had an attitude with just me the whole time. I asked for hot water. Initially, she joked it off, saying how could I be cold when she was hot. I had to ask an additional two times to get the hot water. She had a attitude when I placed my food order. When I got my burger, it was bland and came with fries (even when I asked for a gluten free meal and cross contamination in the fryer is an issue). The GF bun was overheated and parts of it was hard. Only mustard saved it. Salad came with croutons. And she had an attitude when I asked for another salad. Never did get a refill on my hot water. I had the same order at the one in Bowie and none of the problems. Clear that this branch doesn't take food allergies or good service seriously. read more

The whole team works intricately together and dominates the place to make the atmosphere comfortable, thriving for success and the ultimate hospitality. Even though he's a Redskins fan- I appreciate his service overall- u don't find genuine Redskin fans who know how to play their part (esp after they lose & the skins been losers ALL year & last). Bobby Jones stopped past our table and we spoke in detail about the place. He is the type of manager that needs to be established across ALL restaurants currently up and operating after Covid-19; his detail in building responsible and reliable teams is necessary in this industry. I normally like BJs, I like their burgers and wings. I ordered the Super-bowl pizza and wings deal. I do not recommend getting their pizza. I'm glad I checked my pizza before I left the restaurant. The pizza was bare in many spots, there was no cheese or sauce. I told the manager on duty, that my pizza looks horrible. She asked me if I wanted them to put more cheese on it. No I want it remade and for it to look like the picture on their site. They brought out my redid pizza, it looked better than the first set but still looked a mess. Looked nothing like the picture. If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Honestly, if they could receive negative stars, I would move so fast to give them that. Absolutely horrified by the experience my family and I had here. We ordered the pizookie trio to go on our way back home. Strike number 1, nobody was at the pick up desk and despite a line forming, employees kept coming in and out and saying "oh yeah they'll be with you" whenever a customer asked with no alacrity whatsoever. Upon finally receiving my food, I did a quick check to see everything was there and right, the pickup area was dark but everything looked fine at first glance, so we head home. When we get home, I crack open the box and strike 2, THERE WAS MOLD IN THE CHOCOLATE AND THE ICE CREAM SEAL WAS BROKEN. I'm not an expert, but the science I learned in school lets me know the mold had to have accumulated over time which begs the question of what the heck their service staff is doing to provide this to customers and why they don't perform quality checks. I immediately take pictures and call them. I live 25 minutes away so going back would mean I arrived after they closed. It took forever to get someone to answer the phone, but I'll wait bc this is ridiculous. Upon speaking with the staff who answered and sharing what happened, he lets me know he has to get a manger and he comes back to the phone with strike 3, the manager said he was "too busy to handle this and he'd give me a call back" WTF! How is this not a concern that you would want to address? Absolutely absurd. As I'm sure you can guess, that call back was never received. So I call back in the morning, all gas no brakes. I speak with another staff member who is absolutely horrified and immediately goes to get a manager. Another employee comes to the phone and lets me know the store manager "stepped out and will call me back as soon as she returns" but she will likely issue me a courtesy card. I politely let her know I would not like to revisit an establishment that serves moldy food to guests and does not immediately rectify the issue and would instead like my money back. It's been over 12 hours and still no call back. Absolutely disgusted by the lack of concern and horrible customer service from this establishment. I've been to several other locations in the past and haven't experienced anything remotely close, so would say it is probably an issue with the team here specifically. read more

8-27-22....Me and My Family came here as it was our first meal of the day!! Hershona (Her-Sauna) was beyond Amazing!!! with her customer service and very engaging in conversation. She was very honest when we asked about certain things as well as made other suggestions which was great, Overall she took the time and went beyond her waitress duties.... I got a full rack of Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, Wedge Salad, My Mama got the Half Ribs, Sweet Potato Fries, My Nephew got the New Kickin Chicken Sandwich with Coleslaw and Fries with the Sriracha Aioli. I ordered online for pickup. They have a curbside option, but I feel like that's so lazy, so I just parked and went in. There was no one at the host stand. I went over to the bar and locked eyes with someone who had her jacket on, obviously a server clocking out. She greeted me and called another server to assist me. I didn't even have to give my name; the server brought out my food. She did not verify the contents, confirm my name, or identify any utensils that were inside (but which I was grateful for), but she was pleasant and engaging. I had purchased a $100 gift card during the holidays, and the $25 bonus card I received for doing so was valid through today, so I had to redeem it or lose it. I also had received a 20% reusable voucher when I purchased the $100 gift card, so I saved another $6 off my total. The server knew how to ring up the discount and enter the bonus card--you'd be surprised how often employees have no idea how to ring up coupons and gift cards, even where there are printed EMV and POS instructions. I left a 10% tip. What are you supposed to tip on takeout anyway? The checkout experience was fast and satisfactory. I'd order takeout from here again! The food was packaged well and neatly. All the exclusion requests I made were honored (no mushrooms and no onions). I received extra southwest sauce on the side, and the dressing was not poured over the salad, thankfully. The Peruvian chicken breast with quinoa was very, very good! The chicken was juicy, well cooked, and a generous hunk. The blanched spinach I wasn't feeling too eager about, and the chopped tomatoes were soggy so I flicked them away. I would order this dish again. BJ's Brewhouse often has coupons, including their uncreative but valuable $10 off $35, which you should wait for before going, or their free appetizer coupon. Check their website regularly under the Promotions section. Also, sign up for their rewards card and immediately earn a free dessert--which is really delicious, not too large so you don't feel gluttonous, and made fresh. read more

I still can't figure out why this restaurant was so busy on a Wednesday night. It has to be the service. The waiter was incredibly swamped but she checked in on our table often enough and kept a smile on her face the whole time which is how my review of BJ's has two stars instead of one. The food was bad. Ordered wings, sweet potato fries, the great white pizza (a white pizza with chicken and mushrooms), and the salmon dish. The wings and sweet potato fries were good. No issues with anything being under cooked. The pizza was very thick, oily, and utterly bland. My friend had two bites of her salmon and said I can't eat this even after squeezing the lemon all over it. The waitress wanted to know if we wanted to take the food to go since we barely touched it and we said no. She genuinely seemed disappointed and wanted to inform her manager. We declined because the terrible food had nothing to do with her. She got the manager anyway who comped the bill 50% and we gave her the balance of the original bill as a tip. Tameka and the kitchen staff were awesome, especially given that the oversight was on me.
