I have been shopping at the Southington BJ's for many years and have never had a bad experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The prices are same everywhere so I couldn't see that they were higher then any other store. But they always have what I want. The sales are great when they have them also. On the morning of June 2nd 2026 I was shopping in the commack bjs club located at 2 veterans Memorial Highway to be exact . I noticed they had a 54 cubic foot Suncast shed with a price listed above . I wanted the item lifted to my cart but needed help so I motioned to a sales person that had been in the main isle. He was talking so I apologized and motioned him to the area. I told him I'm interested in purchasing the item let's check the price as well to make sure the item corresponds to the box. The associate checked the price and it rang up for a higher price than what's on the price card . At first he said it was not the same item then when I double checked the picture on his phone and what's on the box the item was indeed same item. He took the card down and told me I could not have the item as that was yesterday's price . I felt terrible about what happened so I went to speak with someone at the self checkout she told me he was the actual store manager and that there was nothing she could be to rectify the situation. I was going to leave rest of the items that were to my cart as the shopping experience was ruined . But I paid for my things and left the store. How about that BJs. Simply terrible !!! The single most unprofessional employees I've ever seen. BJs is notorious from location to location for awful management and even worse employee practices (just Google it), but the Southington location HAS to be their crown jewel in that respect. From a stock person exclaiming "I don't give a fuck I'm going the fuck home" while passing busy registers in the company of multiple families with children (grown man btw), to groups of employees ignoring customer service to gossip (mostly swearing about laughably ironic employee training apparently), to the general and universal attitude that you've personally inconvenienced them with your presence and the audacity to shop at a wholesale club that they happen to work at, do yourself a favor and just go to Costco. read more

All your managers need retraining! And your parking lot needs to be fixed! It is a hazard to both the elderly and pregnant women! There are such large crevices that both wheels fall into them, and it stops the carriage dead. Will it raining, you can't even see how deep they are to try and avoid them. Ask me how I know this ? Because it just happened to me ! The carriage jammed into my gut so hard, but I believe I'll have a bruise in a couple of hours . It caused my back to twist, which has now caused tingling in both of my feet . As far as your managers go , every one of them are so unfriendly to your customers I don't know how you still have customers coming in . Why? Well, we reached the inescapable conclusion that it was no longer any fun to shop there. In fact, it became downright depressing, a wasteland of sullen, sad looking cashiers and horribly congested lines that move at the speed of molasses. No one smiled and no one had a sense of urgency to do anything at a reasonable rate of speed. We did renew our membership a few years later to patronize their Torrington and Southington locations. We much prefer the Southington location because they are larger than Torrington and sell their fantastic 3-pound rotisserie chickens for a rock bottom $4.99. Torrington does not. During today's visit, we picked up one of those chickens, plus a big box of individually wrapped Skinny Pop, a mixed fruit platter, a big bag of frozen potstickers, two birthday cards, and a few other things. The store is always neat and well stocked, but most of all- their staff is customer friendly! They smile at you, they chit chat with you. They willingly help you. And they don't look like they hate to be there, as their West Hartford brethren 15 miles away sure did. As the great Jake Kulak sings, -we sure did find someone better. read more

I have been a BJs customer for numerous years now and I see the employee customer relation has spiraled down especially in the Bakery Dept. I have gone shopping there in the morning and evening to purchase bagels and there is none in the racks. After inquiring to the Bakery employees if there is some bagels the answer I get is no, when I could see them on the carts in the back room. Asking when will they have them the answers are I don't know. Very frustrating to have items not there when it is on your grocery list and to be told I don't know. Maybe some retraining in the Bakery Dept is needed. read more

I purchased an espresso machine online and picked it up at the store. The entire process went smoothly and I was and still remain impressed with BJ's. Unfortunately the product was a disaster and I returned it two days later. Despite the fact I had lost my receipt, I had used my BJ's card so the return was just as painless. I was at BJs in Southington CT today 9/12/25, and I was at deli counter waiting. There was a tall guy who had a miserable personality. And shorter lady. The guy was off when talking to customers. A person asked him how much the deli was between two brands and he was walking away saying I Don't Know. He went and opened a new package of meat to slice he walked in back room with sink and counter cut wrapper off rinsed the whole meat and walked back to slicing machine with water still dripping off the meat onto the floor. Every time he spoke with customer it was abrupt and kinda rude. I don't think he was trying to be rude I think this is how he is. But when old lady wanted to know the price of the black Forrest ham he should have looked it up on scale for her not say I Don't Know. There was also Flys flying around deli counter that creeped me out. The shorter lady she was faster at doing her job but she was also on rude side. Also the tall guy was asked by same old lady if he knew how long till next batch of cooked chickens would be and he said whenever the guy comes out. She walked over to where chicken were cooking and stood there for a while and eventually another guy came out and started packing chickens. I used to like this BJs, but the staff seem miserable and even at check out I needed help because pumpkin wouldn't go through she stomped over and I was like pumpkin won't go through and she was snippy typed her codes in and walked off. Even at the crappy Waterbury store with the ghetto employees, they at least say hi and no problem I got this and I say thank u and they acknowledge me. read more

I find buying BJ's gas is a great savings but remember it is not Top Tie detergent gasoline, so you get what you pay for. Also check your receipt, on many occasions I have loaded coupons in the app, and they were not taken off when I checked out, so I had to call an associate over, show them the coupons on my app, and then they were deduct.Also know your prices I find that just because you're buying in bulk does not always mean you are getting a savings. For a family of two the store is mainly good for non-perishable items. read more

I recently went into Bjs to shop for groceries with my daughter. When finished shopping we made our way to the front of the store at self-checkout. I had glanced over to see multiple store managers arguing. The unprofessional acts of management towards other managers are misguiding and wrong especially in front of my daughter and other customers. The higher ups need to look at what's going on in the store and why Carol is yelling and swearing at other managers. I will be canceling my Bjs membership after witnessing this event. We received a card for a temporary 90-day free pass to BJs. We went up to activate it, and the associate there explained the pricing right away. Pretty much went like this: If you sign up for a membership before you head into the store, as in right now, it's such-and-such price (a good bit cheaper, I forget the exact figures. Something like 40-50). But if you go into the store, that offer no longer holds. ... WHY? What kind of gotcha thing are you pulling? Well, go in, see the prices, and you figure out why. Walmart often has better. Heck. Stop'n'Shop often has better! 12-pack of green beans- can get em at Stop'n'Shop for 8-9 dollars. There for 11. And we pay a membership for this?? 24 pack of Alpo dog food- essentially the same price of Stop'nShop's 12 pack, but doubled. So no savings. On and on. The thing is, if you're conscientious and can do math well, if you're at a Costco, you usually can pull ahead a good 10-15 bucks a week, so you can make the membership back as long as you keep going. You struggle to make out ahead at this BJ's. High points are their deli, with reasonable prices and slight savings, everything nice and fresh. You can buy in bulk from their butcher dept. And their bakery looked as if it had very nice selections. Bottom line though- not even close to worth paying a membership if you're going for groceries. We were pretty disappointed and highly unlikely to buy a membership. read more

I wanted to purchase a cake from the bakery and there was no one who knew how to write on cakes and then an employee by the name of Jordyn came over and offered to try to write on the cake for me. She did a fantastic job and I was beyond thrilled with how the writing came out. She is DEFINITELY A TOP TIER employee. She has some of the best customer skills I have seen in a very long time. poor customer service in the Deli after how I was treated I would never shop at this location again I've been a loyal customer in for years and this has never happened. Trying to get a membership here is ridiculous! The first time I attempted, the woman with the short haircut (bow in her hair, with glasses) couldn't understand that people move and may have different addresses. I spent 25 minutes with her, doing who knows what on the computer, only to be told she "couldn't do anything." That was try #1. Today (two weeks later), the same woman was on the phone so I was greeted by another woman. She stated, "our entire membership system is down and we are unable to access it. Oh, and it's not just us, it's the entire state!" While I know it's not her fault, I wonder the validity of her statement. I guess they don't need/want the business. I was given absolutely stellar service at the tire center. I had hit a curb and popped my tire off. Even though staffing was tight, the serviceman came out to look at my car and see what he could do to help. He couldn't work on it in the parking lot, but when AARP Road service came, he assisted by patching my flat for me. Thank you very much!! read more

I worked at the one in Waterford ct for almost 3 years and it wasn't a bad place to work, it's you're typical grocery store job, drama, drama, drama, but all in all it wasn't bad, management could treat there employees a little better but like I said it's you're typical grocery store job, they always want you to do something they have never done themselves, don't listen to well to workers, but all in all its a good job to have in hopes to find something better to hold you over in the meantime read more
