I would give 0 stars if I could. Stay away from this company. They installed the washer incorrectly using faulty parts. As a result, the hose blew off and flooded my property, causing significant damage. When I contacted them, they refused to help or take any responsibility. I now have to go through my insurance to repair the damage caused by this company. We wanted to support a local small business, but this is how they handle serious issues. I used this company because my landlord chose it. I have always driven by it on Wells and never had a reason to go in. They are very kind and knowledgeable about appliances. I went in to get a new washing machine. They were great at working out the payment with my landlord to get it delivered to my home. They explained that they have a 6 month warranty and if there are any issues to call them. So far the washer is working great and I appreciate the time and efforts to help me choose something within budget. The delivery went well! the person delivering was kind and personable. I felt comfortable having them in my home. They hooked everything up properly and took the old washer with them. Everyone that I came in contact with at Black & White Appliances were knowledgeable, personable, and respectful. Do not let the old reviews sway you. Omgoodness! I was looking to replace the freezer gasket on my good old Frigidaire refrigerator. I called several repair places that were supposed to be good ones, recommended by neighbors or other repair people. No one would look to see if the part was even available but wanted to come look at the job for $100 or more. Then I spoke to Matt at Black and White Appliances (and Repair.) He was fantastic. He told me the cost for coming out to the job. He asked me for the model number of my refrigerator and looked up the cost of the part. It was $145!For one gasket! So he told me the repair would be $300 or a little more. That seemed like a lot of money to spend on an old refrigerator even though I knew the compressor was working like a champion. Matt offered me options. He had refurbished refrigerators the same size as mine in his shop for $325 with a 6 month warranty, the longest offered by anyone in town on a refurbished fridge. He also was running a sale on new refrigerators. He was happy to take the time to discuss with me the pros and cons of the different refrigerators he sells, and why he only sells those brands (because he sees Korean made refrigerators in need of repair all day long.) A new 17.5 cubic foot refrigerator with a one-year warranty on all parts and service, and a 10 year warranty on the major components of compressor and Freon system seemed like a better way to spend my money. New American made fridge, delivered, installed, with tax, was just under $850 because of the sale. Now I can have peace of mind about my refrigerator for the next 10 years. Now for Michael, the man who delivered my new refrigerator and took away my old one. Omgoodness! Such a nice man, efficient, good at his job, funny and charming to boot. My delivery was scheduled for 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM but he called at nine to see if he could come early. That was great. He made me laugh just on the phone call. Michael had to remove a door to get the refrigerator in. Nothing fazed him. Not a mark or scratch or ding anywhere. He is very good at what he does. Got a refrigerator from them 2 and 1/2 years ago with delivery Samsung French door with bottom freezer. This thing is like a sub zero . Had a couple scratches but who cares . He even arranged for me to get a $40 credit on my old electric stove & they took it away when my "new" appliances were delivered. Speaking of delivery, Marcos, was AWESOME. I got a dryer and it doesn't work. I thought they should come and check it out but I have to pay a service call now. Too expensive after shelling out $ for the dryer. THIEVES...They serviced my refrigerator in January 2023 it's now Feb 16 2023 it's still not repaired. The technician said it should get to temp in a few hrs and then the light would stop flashing never Happened. Also water was dispensing just fine before it was serviced guess what after the tech left the water won't dispense. I have called numerous times they person that answers tell me the owner will call me back shortly HE NEVER CALLS ME BACK. They are dishonest left my fridge worse but will charge an outrageous amount in a heartbeat for a job they couldn't even complete. Bill and his crew were so personable and friendly, even taking the time to physically show us the parts of the direct drive washers. He explained which brands to look for and which brands to stay away from. Once we had decided on a set he had his crew hook them up for us to show us that they were working upon departure. His appliances have a 6 month warranty so we feel confident that if something does happen to them once we get them home, Bill and his crew will take care of it. I definitely recommend this used appliance store over the other ones in the area because Bill is so genuine and straight forward. Bill, the owner of Black & White Appliance, called me 9/11/17 explaining that a fan their company replaced for me back in July had a recall. He asked to come over that same day to nicely replace it for us and I kindly accommodated his request. Come to find out, he had NO intention of replacing a part. He blatantly lied about the recall just to have access to my apartment to REMOVE and TAKE the part out of our refrigerator because our land lady had not paid the bill. He almost left my apartment without even informing my roommate that he broke our refrigerator and all of our food was going to go bad....however she naturally asked if all was well as he was about to walk out the door. That's when he confesses that he actually did NOT replace any part, he took it back and was sorry he had to "deceive" us in order to get entry to my apartment. Then he goes on to ask if we pay rent on time, and how he would also like to get paid on time. ALSO tells us we don't have much food in our refrigerator anyway and that he's buy us a bag of ice...which we declined. After my roommate calls me to inform me of what just happened, I immediately called the owner back to ask why he just lied to me? He apologized again for being "deceitful" but said he had no other choice. He kept asking "what would you have done if you were me?" To which I replied, "Not that. You could have given us notice to prepare ice chests to put our food. Or even given us a chance to pay the bill?" We would have been happy to pay the bill and deduct it from rent as there was clearly an oversight or misunderstanding regarding the unpaid bill. Needless to say, he played us BIG TIME. I felt robbed and violated that I gave him permission to come in to my home on false pretenses. NEVER TRUST THIS MAN OR COMPANY. read more

This is a great resource for landlords on a budget. The dryer in my rental started making an awful sound the day my tenant was supposed to move in. They squeezed me in to their schedule so it was fixed before the tenant moved in. Chuck made an instant diagnosis, ran and grabbed the parts and fixed it immediately. They have also hauled a refrigerator to a second floor apartment for me. I once bought a bunk fridge from them but they made good and brought out a replacement immediately. RIP OFF ARTISTS! SCAMMERS! THIEVES!!! Had a guy come out to repair my washer-after looking at it for 5 minutes he told me I would need a new timer and the cost for the part alone would be $190-labor additional. Said he'd be happy to take my washer for me and bring me a new one from their store. I opted to wait. Something wasn't sitting right with me so I called a 2nd tech (different company). He came in, took a look and realized it was simply not getting any power. Went to the BREAKER BOX AND FLIPPED THE BREAKER! That was it! The washer was FINE!!! I had Black and White out 5 weeks prior for a different "repair" so I asked this new technician to take a look at the work done. Paperwork showed him exactly where to look and what they had "done". They had stripped a wire clear of its protective wrap and left a LIVE wire just resting on a piece of metal-yes, this did make the washer run but left my household in danger of FIRE AT ANY MOMENT! Sierra Nevada hired these guys to fix my stove top after I bought my house. Black and White was contracted in January 2018 to fix the part that needed replaced in my stove. I did not get my stove fixed until June 2018! They came up with every excuse in the world why they could not come to my home i.e., part is back ordered, sorry my guy couldn't get out to your house today, blah blah blah! So when they fixed it finally they wanted payment and boy did they want payment NOW! I am a bookkeeper and I pay all of my bills as well as my companies. I came into a bit of hard times and I told them I would pay them when my refy closed end of October and could they just be patient. Now after waiting 7 months to get my stove fixed you think they could have been a bit patient. BILL, the Owner, was so rude to me. He called me a liar, a flake and dead beat and told me I do not pay my bills. Customer Service is everything and the customer is ALWAYS right! There is no excuse for a professional owner to be calling his clients names as he did. I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I work for a design firm and will get the word out not to use these guys and I will as I always do what I say...they have no idea. I also give great contractors a lot of business when they are good. I do not want them representing us to our clients! I sent them a check but their calling and harassing me after I had to wait 7 months to get my stove fixed is ludiicrous! DON'T USE THEM, JUST SAYIN!
