Although the acai bowl was smaller than other places, it was arranged so neatly and the quality of the fruit was sublime. The Angel Wings was sufficiently warm and wonderfully sweet. I liked all the things I ate and would recommend this place for anyone looking for quality food and drinks. All of this cost around $30.

My husband and I just found the Best Black Bear Diner right here in Glendale AZ! We have been fans of Black Bear Diners since we first got married in on the 4th of July in 1987. Over the years we've had the pleasure of dining at them in Gilroy, Salinas, and Carmel, California as well as in Reno and Fernley Nevada. This one in Glendale is one of the best we've ever encountered! Having just moved here 3 weeks ago, a doctor's appointment brought us to Glendale and we were starved and in need of a great place to eat! We were delighted to find this Black bear Diner within one block of where we were. We not only had the most delicious lunch today, but outstanding service too! Our waitress Cathy was momentarily busy, so Mike the manager came over and offered to get us started with our drinks. In no time Cathy came and took our order which was ready in no time. The food was served hot and was really delicious! The onion rings were the best I've had in a long time...crunchy and hot but not greasy!!! We're definitely going back soon! read more

It's a bit of a drive for me to eat here, but well worth it. My friend and I eat here about once a month or so; whenever we can sneak out of the office for a bit to eat. It's laid back and the employees are friendly. We usually have Josh as our server. He is really friendly, prompt and respectful of our time. He makes his presence known and let's us know he is near by if we need anything and he leaves us alone to talk and eat. He even remembers what we like to drink and eat from prior visits. The restaurant is clean but definitely nothing fancy. It is pretty basic and casual. The juke box there is hit or miss. Usually it plays random oldies and it's a pretty decent mix of songs, but a couple of times they had the same 6 songs on repeat the entire time we were there. I love breakfast foods so anywhere that serves breakfast all day long is okay in my book. What I really like about Black Bear is that the portions are more than enough and my usual choices are only $8.99. All in all, Black Bear is a winner. read more

Definitely the best breakfast place on Bell! This isn't for the calories counters out there. Make sure to try the blueberry sweet cream pancakes. They stuff the pancakes with a ridiculous number of blueberries, so amazing. The cinnamon roll french toast is also top notch. Also, opt for the homemade sausage links or patties over the bacon or ham. I think they use fennel seeds to make them pop. So good! Be aware that trying to get a table in the morning on the weekend is probably going to be a 20 to 30 minutes wait at times. That's really the only drawback of the place. I've never tried their lunch or dinner specials, hence I cannot comment on the quality. The service is always great at breakfast though. read more

Came with a friend on Saturday, had the meatloaf, which I would highly recommend, waitress was very good and very attentive (Nicole), I would highly recommend asking for her, you won't be disappointed. My friend had the chicken fried steak and she said it was very good. The desert was delicious, I asked for a piece of chocolate cream pie and I expected just a slice and when she delivered the pie it turned out to be a personal size full pie that was definitely good for 2 people. I had an early dinner at Black Bear last night. Probably the best salmon I've ever had! i'm not fond of pesto sauce, so they put it on the side, and I enjoyed the salmon with lemon and tartar sauce instead. There was enough food to bring half of it home, too! They always have large portions, that can be shared, and great sides, too. I didn't have a piece of pie (well, it's not really a "piece" it's a whole pie" this time, but I have in the past, and they're delicous! Highly recommend this Black Bear! read more

I'm on my way to Black Bear for lunch AGAIN. Never disappointed here, just too much food! It's home-style cooking all the way! I just poured over some of the reviews and I'm surprised that people say everything was fine but they don't give 5 stars? What's up with that? When I was there was three lovely and nice counter staff and said that the wait was going to 45 minutes but there was no one else there. When I asked for the manger about the wait a women named Kathy who came out and was extremely rude. She was wearing an apron and did not look like the manager. Very disappointed. They didn't get me and my husband's order right. Potatoes were cold , biscuits were missing and they forgot thousand island dressing for the Ruben. My sons steak was not cooked the way he ordered it. The manager had our orders remade,we were there so long that she just bagged up our food and we went on our way. Black bear diner use to be Perkins but I must say I like black bear better. The food is great and the prices are very affordable. It is very comfortable here. They have a back room for small Gatherings and birthday parties which we use every year. They accommodate the size of your party so make sure to call ahead so they could be prepared. Got the baked potato and got the Bigfoot chicken fried steak and it was pretty good. A great size and price and it was super filling. Customer service was pretty good; they checked up on us pretty often so that was friendly and asked if we wanted drinks to be refilled too.
