For anyone who remembers Bakers Square, here's her sister! We had a Bakers Square in California 20+ years ago and we're sad when it closed. Just learned Village Inn is a sister company with the exact same pie we loved all those years ago, so imagine our surprise to learn we have this restaurant so close to us. Stopped by and picked up some Caramel Pecan Silk Supreme & Lemon Supreme pie - nostalgic, delicious, good as ever. Also learned they have specials - $5 burger Monday, $9 sandwich on Tuesday, free pie with an order on Wednesday and $5 2-2-2 Thursday! Need I say more. Customer service was great. We decided to come in this Saturday evening because we saw there were a lot of pies here. This is a classic neighborhood diner with everything you'd expect for a diner plus they have a large assortment of pies. We ordered some dinner, then we all ordered a slice a pie. Well, another swing in a is for Village Inn at this location. We decided not to order dinner as our previous experience was horrible dining inside this restaurant. So, we decided to give them a try with dessert through DoorDash. We ordered four slices of pie: French Silk, Banana Cream Pie, Cherry, and Key Lime. When our Dasher arrived at this location, he called and informed us the doors to the restaurant were closed and locked. He called us at 8:10 PM and the restaurant doesn't close until 9 PM. I had to call the restaurant to investigate why my order was being delayed. I spoke with an employee named Don. Don informed me he knew that front doors were locked, but did not know why. He was in the process of trying to unlock them and asked for our Dasher to come back in. Our Dasher called back to advise that he picked up our order was on the way. Upon arrival, I inspected the order. We were highly disappointed with the packaging of the pie slices. The cherry pie was smashed in the clear container. The Key Lime pie was tiny. The French Silk pie looks like it was cut by a chainsaw. The only slice of pie that survived was the Banana Cream. We paid close to $7.00 per slice on DoorDash. I can honestly tell you the portion size of pies slices was not a value and then taste was bland. Came to this location to get a "To Go Order", yeah just based off of my very brief customer service experience this is definitely not a place if you're "Not Local" to put it simply. The outside definitely presents itself as a down home comfy local spot. The inside definitely filled with local customers, as you can tell it is one of their favorites. The ambiance and food seems like comfort home cooking. This is about where the wonderfullness stops. The hostess, obviously could tell I'm not from around there or maybe she woke up on the wrong side of the bed, just simply could not be nice or even fake a pleasantry if her life depended on it. Waiting in seated area, oh yeah the company of the locals was the same way as one even "Tissed" me as she looked at me up and down, but this was the same attitude as the hostess so oh well. When my order finally came up, I even smiled and held out my hand, she walked right by me ignorring me (knowing it was mine) and simply put the bag on the table. I commented "Oh wow okay have a good day"... I informed my wife as I got home, "Honey I found a place looks like it cooks great food, but they obviously don't like non-locals lets just leave it at that".... This was our first trip to this village in. When we walked in, the entire restaurant was overly warm. Yes, there was a lot of people there, but over 95% were already eating. My wife ordered French toast and a side of bacon. I ordered a breakfast sandwich. 40 minutes later we had our food. We almost walked out. The French toast was quite small. Visited this location after my husband's Doctor appointment. We were hungry and trying to figure out where to stop for a bite and BINGO! What not? Visited 6/24/2024 We visited twice today. Breakfast was Excellent. Food and serving size was well worth the very reasonable prices. We came back for dinner and my lady had a Patty Melt on Rye. Only 3 stars. I had The slow roasted Turkey Dinner. The stuffing was tasty and filling and the Turkey was tender and moist. Potatoes and Gravy was also tasty. My only complaint was my Side Order of Corn was a Joke. Only about two bites on a side plate and they charged $3.00 for it. Ridicules price to charge for such a small portion. Monday is $5.00 burger day. The burger is great. My husband's onion rings were hot and crispy. Just the way he likes them. My frys were just ok. Needed to be left in the fryer a little longer. Service was great. Our waitress, Dee, was great. I ordered the cherry pie. Worst I've ever had. Soggy crust and over sweet canned cherry pie filling. Hubs and I arrived for lunch yesterday. Place was pretty dead with maybe 4-5 tables being used. We were sat in Charity's section. Well sad for us. You are sitting in front of the kitchen area and get hear all the foul language from the kitchen and even better you get to sit in front of the table the employees and manager were using for social hour. Our waitress spent more time talking to the other waitress and the female manager at the employee table behind us. I did not enjoy hearing the female manager talk about someone spitting in someone's else face while I was trying to eat and rattle on about their worst experiences with guests as our drinks weren't refilled and our table wasn't checked on. This was such a delicious surprise! This was our first time visiting Village Inn and what a great experience! From the service, to the food...everything was great! I ordered the chicken cordon blue crepes were outstanding - a ton of filling, big chunks of chicken and ham....hollandaise sauce was great, and the hash browns were nice and crispy but soft on the inside. My husband really enjoyed his club sandwich. And it had real sliced turkey breast, crispy back, and a ton of meat! His fries were nice and crispy as well. The bonus was on Wednesday, they have "Free Pie Day" so with the purchase of an entree and drink, you get a free slice of pie! Haven't been to the village inn in a while. Went with a girlfriend tonight for dinner. I had a half Rueben Sand and a small dinner salad. Waitress wasn't sure if they had vinegarette dressing? So I said if not then ranch. When the sandwich came the corned beef was very dry and very the corned beef was very sparse. I didn't taste the 1000 island dressing. First time visiting a Village Inn. We walked here by chance because we needed somewhere to spend time while getting tires replaced on our car nearby. What a perfect place for spending time. Great menu options and I LOVE the option to have a pancake as your bread choice with a meal. There is nothing I hate more than paying full price for a plate of only pancakes. Husband and I both found favorable items to order. Food was tasty! Interior was clean and comfortable the waitresses were very personable and attentive. No rushing involved and there are tvs in view to keep your attention, if needed. Food was a good price for the quality of food. We'll likely return again, just for fun morning out. I was having lunch with my mother who has dementia and she started screaming at me in a restaurant and it made me upset and I was telling her please be quiet please be quiet and I think the whole restaurant knew what was going that it made me look bad like I was being mean to my elderly mother when I was just explaining to her that she can't drive any longer and anyway the short Hannah was great she was made me happy and was good service give her a raise please. read more

I go to this location often different times of the day. it had an Oder of old and dinghy.the last few times I have been there it hasn't been a good experience. our server seemed to be out of it a bit and in a hurry . she stated to us that she had multiple complaints from others there.First she gave us dirty silverware then was rushing us with our orders. we ordered a vegetarian omelette and was meat in it and on top. she was told it was for a vegetarian. she stated that the menus changed and it now comes with a meat sauce on it. I pulled the menu up in front of her since she wasn't sure what was in it at all. we asked about items that have been on the menu for a long time and she stated she wasn't aware of those items. as the menus changed has changed as of Tuesday. which I didn't see any changes made to it. we could over hear her talking to the cooks about it. veggie omelette mean no meat. please explain!!!!! the manager was walking around not once did anyone apologize for this mishap. we were not asked if we wanted our and the pies there are amazing( usually) . however I did order a slice of pie and it was all smashed and didn't looked very good. sadly this was a terrible service now twice same server .this has been mine and my moms favorite place to eat. which is now made me rethink about going there. First time visiting Village Inn. We had a large group of ladies. Arrived at 11:30. The manager greeted us explaining our tables would be ready momentarily. (very accommodating having put 4 tables together) Pitchers of water awaited us. Food was delicious for a breakfast place. Ambience is okay, the hostess and also seemed to be the manager really kills the vibe. Her name was Tana. She is really aggressive and rude. I also did not feel welcomed. I came with my family and she had sat another large table before us as soon as they had gotten there. We had been waiting for more than 30 minutes. I didn't want to think it was racial, but it definitely felt that way. If you're the owner of this place Tana is not good at making it a welcoming environment. She really made the experience of having breakfast with my family here uncomfortable. Luckily, our waitress was super sweet and attentive. Her name was Aubreanne (I'm sorry I'm butchering it) she was super accommodating and very good at making a recovery for Tanas rudeness. How we were greeted really affected my review with this place. I'd never even heard of this place until I had business down the street. I went in around breakfast time, looked at the menu, and saw some dinners that looked tasty. I asked if I could get the pot roast dinner that early and was pleasantly surprised that it was available! I was very impressed with the meal; it came with a choice of two sides and Texas toast. The pot roast was juicy, flavorful, and practically melted in my mouth. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans for my sides. The gravy for the meat and the potatoes was succulent, and the green beans had a nice amount of crunch to them. The portions were ample. They tend to have a lot of senior regulars, which I guess is to be expected in a retirement state. The wait staff was friendly, though they only checked once on whether anything else was needed. That was fine since I was pressed for time anyway. As a Coke drinker, my subjective reviews automatically deduct one star if the restaurant serves Pepsi. That is why I give four stars instead of five. I didn't buy any pies; I had a four-hour drive back home in 120-degree heat but they looked scrumptious. Even that early in the morning there were several people who came in just to order whole pies to take home. Next time I'm there, I will make arrangements to save room for a slice while there! This Village Inn on Grand was Horrible!!!! Once we checked in the lady said that it would be a 30 minute and 45 second wait. We waited for 45 minutes and she kept setting people who came in after us. The people that were going to be seated raven said to us you all were here before us. We they asked the hostess where we were at on the list and she replied "Barbie and Ken you have four people ahead of you. We continued to wait longer and she then seats more people ahead of us. We asked her why she is doing that and her reply again is "your next Barbie and Ken". My husband tells her that is rude our names are not Barbie and Ken. After that she walks off. After that we left. The place could be nice but definitely needs new management. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Besides the whole we were setting there we didn't smell anything food cooking. read more
