After three visits, Compadres Texas Cafe has officially become my favorite breakfast spot in The Woodlands area. Jason ordered the Griddle Platter with a Belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, and bacon, and enjoyed everything. I ordered the Eggs Alone with two eggs, cheese potatoes, and a biscuit with gravy. The cheese potatoes were so delicious that I ate every last bite, then took my eggs and biscuit home. They reheated beautifully and made an equally delicious lunch. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and breakfast is served all day. The service has been fast and genuinely friendly on every visit without ever feeling intrusive or bothersome. Compadres has the comfortable, homey feeling you hope to find in a locally owned Texas café. Their sweet tea deserves its own five-star review. I order mine without ice, and it tastes incredibly similar to the tea Grandma Lilley made in a pot with two full cups of sugar. It brings me right back to some of the peaceful parts of my childhood, which makes it far more than just another restaurant drink. I'd say I had a good experience overall! The ambiance is similar to any other casual restaurant, and you seat yourself. A server came over quickly, the service was good, and my sweet tea was consistently refilled. The food was affordable as well, although I did notice some pricing discrepancies between the online menu and the actual menu. I came here based on the online pricing, so I was a little surprised. For example, the three-item breakfast burrito is listed at $6.99 online but is actually $7.99 in person. The chicken fried chicken is listed at $12.99 online, while the in-person menu lists it at $14.99 for a small and $17.99 for a large. I also noticed that the online menu says three eggs are included with the chicken fried chicken, but I didn't receive them. I'd recommend updating the online menu so customers aren't confused. That said, I still had a great experience! The chicken fried chicken was excellent, especially with the mashed potatoes and jalapeño gravy. The burrito was a little greasier than I prefer, but it was still good. I also noticed they sell pies and cookies, so I'll definitely have to come back and try those! read more

Really good food. This is the first place to get my eggs right. Of course you will have to add salt and pepper to your eggs and hash browns but they are really good and you can taste the real butter. Good breakfast place. The jalapeno sausage gravy is pretty good but you can't go to wrong with breakfast. They are really nice people and they have all kinds of homemade jams. This place used to really be good. The chicken fried steaks used to be tender now the flat side is hard as leather. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and got four tomatoes. My wife got the okra, and it's a small amount, compared to six months ago. I've eaten here for several years, not anymore. This will be the last time I ordered from that place. read more

Cute place...let's start there. Ambiance very quaint, inviting...not from this side of town but definitely looks like a favorite for many peeps on that side. Service seemed a little slow, it took awhile to get our food and we only had two dishes one of which was a kids meal. Waiter was friendly and staff seemed friendly. They charged $6 for chips and salsa so just fyi...salsa was very good though, but come on...not $6 good. Kids meal was basic, $8 seemed like alot for what they got but was okay. The chorizo plate was very good, chorizo was tasty, beans were good. Bacon was nice and crisp as requested. Pretty basic breakfast. Served with tortillas....guys they weren't homemade which was a bummer, but they did their job. Coffee was good, and rootbeer float was good. This restaurant definitely has potential with some minor tweaks, but for $48 after tip, we most likely won't be returning. Just too many other places that don't charge for chips and salsa, have homemade tortillas (just my preference don't come after me), and get better quality food for your money. read more

This secret little spot is a favorite. Friendly service and lots of options on the menu. When you come in you'll be greeted with a wave from across the room and they'll tell you to sit wherever you like. Tons of breakfast items, omelets, sandwiches , burgers, enchiladas-they have it all. This a a true cafe/ diner/greasy spoon kind of place. I love their tuna sandwiches which we had during lent and the onion rings and fried green tomatoes dipped in a super duper delicious ranch dressing is out of this world. They have daily specials and their ice tea is really good. It's always crowded during peak hours but never a wait. Try it out. read more

Disappointing! Ordered ribeye rare. Half was pure grizzle and couldn't be eaten. Other half was veined with grizzle so I was only able to have about 5 bites. I told the waitress and she said "well we're not a steakhouse" then turned to the next person and asked after their meal. Wow! We had to pay for this steak that couldn't be eaten. One time I walked in and about 25 people had just ordered and I asked if they could get my food out fast as I had to be at work in 40 minutes. My family and I came here on Mother's Day for some breakfast. It was our first time here, and it was a great experience. It has a casual, homey feel, with lots of Texas decor. They also seem to make and bottle their own hot sauces and jalapeño jellies, which are available for purchase by the register. The food was delicious! He mentioned several times how delicious everything was.
