Cheese Bread (it's a side) - literally toast with cheddar cheese on it.

I really enjoy Black Bear as a place to grab a delicious breakfast. They have a wide selection of food and drinks as well which I really appreciate! The Food is always in bigger portions, and very filling. Everything is decorated with bears, from the plates to the walls to outside of the restaurant! This particular time I went, the service was not great, we only saw our server three times when she said hi, gave us our drinks, and brought us the check (someone else brought the food). We waited for 45 minutes for the food. I would give four stars for that, however that's usually the exception. The rule is that Blackbear servers are nice, quick, and caring. This is a perfect local spot, just watch out for the weekends - the place is buzzing (long'er wait time to get a table)!

My wife and I had dinner there tonight the food was good but the waiter who waited on us was rude and didn't and clearly didn't understand what it means to be a waiter. If that wasn't bad enough we got an apple and a berry cobbler to go. The apple was made with applesauce instead of aples the berry cobbler had hardly any filling in it. We won't be going back anytime soon this use to be such a great place to eat

One of us ordered the Taco Salad which comes with your choice of ground beef, grilled or fried chicken. They have a fish and chips plate that's all you can eat for $14.99 if you order frozen fish. For $1 more you get fresh fish but just 1 plate. I opted for the fresh. That did seem strange to me. The door was missing from a stall in the ladies room. The water had a strange taste I sent the fish back and got some that was still over done. I think that even though I paid a dollar extra for fresh fish it was actually frozen. Why else would it be so overcooked. The hush puppies were delicious. Taco salad was fair.

The service tonight was horrible at best. I had to wave down 5 different people before I was able to get a coffee refill. Asked for cream and sugar and that took 20 minutes. Our fish was burnt and couldn't get anyone to come by our table to ask for freshly fried fish. Ended up leaving and only ate 1/2 of a fish fillet and a few fries. I won't be in a hurry to come back.

Went to this location for dinner while we're in town, we were seated promptly and asked for drinks. The host brought us drinks and told us our server would be over soon. We needed a little time to check out the menu, our waitress came over and introduced herself to us. She was very friendly and polite. The restaurant wasn't too full when we arrived but quite a few more tables were filled while we were there. The restaurant wasnt too loud, we could have a conversation. The restaurant was decorated in many bear themed items. They had a small gift shop near the register. Some of the staff were kind of hanging around betting on who would order what etc. and werent paying attention to the chefs. The cooks had to have the host take items to the tables because of this. Our server was pretty on top of things, got our food out quickly and got our order correctly and checked on us often. Drink refills were a bit behind but she had quite a few tables and it was understandable. Overall it was a decent meal for a decent price.

Came here after my car caught on fire and was hungry. Mark was so nice the whole time. Food came out fresh and definitely hit the spot after a long day of dealing with my car. Grits didn't have any flavor but I mixed it with my mac n cheese and it tasted great haha

Chicken fried steak with 2 eggs, hash browns, 2 gigantic biscuits and gravy - for dinner!
    Don K.

Breakfast for dinner - what's not to love! The chicken fried steak and country gravy was phenomenal - exactly what I was craving. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuits....THE BISCUITS!!!! They were fluffy and dense, huge, and melted in my mouth. Added a side of gravy to complement the biscuits. Too much gravy? Never! My server, James, was amazing as well. Large portions, delicious food, great service. Perfect experience.

While traveling through the area, I decided to stop in and give this restaurant a try. I appreciated the ample parking and the signage reminding guests to be cautious of potential car break-ins. it's thoughtful and proactive. The interior was clean, well kept, and inviting. Service was attentive and pleasant; our server James was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our visit. He's a standout and brings genuine warmth to the dining experience. I ordered the pot roast after seeing a photo of it on Yelp, but unfortunately, it didn't meet expectations. The dish appeared and tasted as though it had not been freshly prepared. It was noticeably dry and lacked any sauce aside from a ladle of gravy seemingly intended for the mashed potatoes. I attempted to improve the flavor with hot sauce, but I was unable to finish the meal. I respectfully urge management to review the quality control around this item. Serving freshly prepared food should always be a priority. At its current state, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the pot roast to others. Once again, James was excellent, and I truly hope he continues providing the same level of customer care. With continued attention to food quality, this place could be a worthwhile stop for future travelers.

Big foot Chicken Fried Steak (560 cals.)

We came here on a Monday around 10:30am with a big group of friends. Got a seat right away. Service was friendly. Bear decorations everywhere. Cute atmosphere. Took about 25 minutes for the first few dishes to come out so order a drink in the mean time. Menu is extensive, presented in a newsletter type format. They managed to keep prices low while still serving large portions. The big foot chicken fried steak was only $16.99. This same dish in their Colma location is $24.99! Food is what you could expect at any diner. Ordered poached eggs with my chicken fried steak and the eggs were overdone. I should have expected that from a diner. Grits were bland, don't recommend. Sweet potato fries were much better. An add on was only $0.99 and it was a lot! If you like biscuits, they are about the size of baseballs here. Huckleberry lemonade wasn't anything special.

Close to the freeway, easy access. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre compared to other BBD'S. Many homeless, not safe to park.

The onion rings tasted like beer, nothing else. Mozzarella sticks were cold. The sweet potato fries were soft and soggy. The chicken wrap met our lowered expectations. Definitely wasn't worth $75 (four meals). To sum it up, pass this one up and eat somewhere else.

The place specialized in their really delicious, freshly squeezed orange juice. The restaurant has a distinct orange colored theme to it and seems like it's well loved in the area. The service here felt a little rushed and not always super helpful. I had some questions about the menu, but the server seemed a bit impatient like she had other things to do. I didn't appreciate this, but sometimes people have harder days than others. The food here was really good! I had the Arizona Enchilada Omelette, which had carnitas smothered with tomatillo sauce. The carnitas were really tender and super flavorful in that sauce. The Orange juice was so good and so refreshing. Perfect for the 107 degree day outside. I would come here just for that orange juice. I also want to mention how much I like that you can get a pancake here instead of toast. The pancake was. Like having dessert after the entree. So glad I stopped here for breakfast, but I do wish the service could've been nicer.
