We go to CR Gibbs every few weeks when we want cocktails and American food. On our most recent visit we enjoyed Beef Fajita Eggrolls as an appetizer, the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and a California Club Wrap for entrees along with a Lemon Drop and a Black Walnut Old Fashioned. Each hit the spot. Portions left plenty to take home. The service is very personable and quick. The full-service bar cranks out the drinks. The outdoor patio is popular on nice days. read more

I was visiting home for a few days, so my parents wanted to take me out to dinner, and they decided to take me here as I was craving a steak very badly. It's a very big space so there is a lot of seating and the wait time is never too long, it's also very spaced out so it's not too loud in there either. Our waiter was training and learning the ropes, but he was very kind and asked us all the right questions. My dad got the Cajun Pasta (which I was debating on getting but decided I would just eat some of his). It was very good, although very rich on the stomach. I got the Steak Frites that came with garlic fries, I always ask for rare for my steak and man, did they deliver. It was very red and juicy in the middle, the perfect rare. This steak satisfied my craving, I had a few of the french fries, and they were also very flavorful (my cousin thought so too because she ate almost all of them before I had the chance to). Overall, it is a great place to catch up over dinner, and I would definitely come here again. read more

RAW MEAT! I asked for medium rare and was given this. My waiter told me this was completely safe to eat and the kitchen thermometer read medium rare as rare. He offered me a box to take it home but I was not comfortable doing that. After I paid I was uncomfortable with the entire interaction and his grumpy attitude. I do not appreciate being LIED to by him when this could have made me VERY sick and was in no way food safe. The manager took it off the bill and said it looked undercooked to him as well. This was my first visit, fish n chips and my Manhattan. The drink was delicious. The fish n chips, meh. But the fries were better than the fish. Fist visit and server i would give a 5 out of 10. Maybe even a 6. The second visit was a week later. No pics. Prime rib dip, bland lack of flavor. The fries delicious. The server had a shit personality from the beginning. He did recommend a great beer. But I won't be coming back. To many options around to have crap service and just ok food. The sad part is, I don't know the name of the beer. My family of 4 came out here with our sons' hockey team for a team dinner while in town. We had a rsvp and were seated in the same section but multiple tables to the left by the bar. The waitress was very accommodating and attentive to our large group. A parent recommended that she takes our order individually using the jersey # of our kid so that it's easier to pay for the bill later w/o any hassle. And surely, all went smooth. My family of 4 ordered the following: 1. Prime rib but rib eye came out instead. ooked just right for medium rare and super tender but seasoning is very light. 2. Cajun pasta very flavorful and has a strong spicy kick to it so I had to trade my PBLT with him. The shredded chicken is very dried so I ate all the pasta and small cut up pieces of sausages except for the chicken. 3. Fish tacos: my 12yo devoured it but left the beans and some sort of sweet corn. 4. PBLT: A delish sandwich as I love pastrami! Comes on rye bread. Yummy to eat when it's hot. Ended up trading with my 9yo as the casting pasta was to spicy for him. Overall, the waitress was very attentive to our group at the beginning but as the night ended she didn't stop by to check in on us so we didn't order dessert or additional drinks. Have been there several times while staying at the Best Western. I am a vegetarian and ordered the chef salad with no chicken or bacon. Lettuce, tomato, avocado, and an egg. Was charged $25! It certainly wasn't $25 worth of mostly lettuce and tomato. Next time we will definitely find somewhere else to go. read more

We have dined here a few times and always really, really enjoy it! The restaurant is super clean and staff always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. They're very willing to accommodate if you need to alter things. Prices are on the high side, but understandable for a restaurant of this quality and experience. This time we tried the duck quesadilla, which was absolutely delicious! Could use just a bit more sauce. We also both enjoyed the steakhouse salad. Always a favorite of ours! read more

I don't eat out much anymore but I am getting sick of my own food. I've lived in Redding for over 30 years and I've never had a good a sandwich as the Prime Rib Dip on the lunch menu. This is a place I can depend on during this season. When beets are in season. I come here when nothing else sounds good to me, because CR Gibbs feels like a treat. I'm so happy their BEET salad is back on the menu, I crave it nearly year round and feel so genuinely disappointed when it's out of season and thus not on the menu. The have a Focaccia Bread on the menu right now, paired with a balsamic/ olive oil, garlic, Pistachio dipping sauce and it just melts in your mouth, comes to the table hot and is soooooooo good. Just talking about it now makes me want it again. I've been craving it since the last time I had it in December. 10/10 The service was stellar, friendly and not bothersome while still checking in. I tried their BERRY "cobbler" which is pleasant enough. 6/10 The fresh berries are delicious but there should be more of them and the doughy cobbler at the bottom was a bit too soft/ lacked flavor for my tastes. They do a cinnamon style crumble on top that is necessary with each bite for that crunch, though it is very sweet. I enjoyed the cobbler enough but I would not order it again until they get the crust right. Maybe that is just my personal preference. We still completely devoured it and nothing went to waste. It's delicious though there is room for improvement. Sorry to be so particular. In the highlight of the meal... the BEET SALAD, 10/10 which was soooooo good. With goat cheese softly placed on top, golden and red beets, Fresh seasonal berries, leafy greens, pistachios and a vinaigrette this salad did not disappoint. I didn't think it was possible for the salad to get better but this time around it was. I paired it with the Pinot noir and it all went together so perfectly, I enjoyed every single bite and will come here again specifically for this menu item. It's worth noting I have tried a few things at this restaurant, I personally did not like the duck tacos, and although I enjoyed their braised short ribs enough, they aren't my favorite. They just barely miss the mark for me. I tend to find a favorite meal, when it comes to flavor/ satisfaction/ health ... and stick to it because once the flavors come together perfectly not much else can top it for me. We were lucky they weren't busy, but it was a Monday night, and although we walked in at 8:30 ( they close at 9) they happily seated us and our food came out surprisingly quickly . I left so happy, feeling full and satisfied with a delicious taste in my mouth. Will absolutely be back again. They are a bit pricey but the quality/ flavor/ freshness of ingredients and service are worth it. Exactly what I expect at a restaurant on this level. read more

Rudest management I have ever encountered!! I'm a guest at the hotel, and when I was ignored as a person by myself, I asked the hostess to find me a server, and, she told her manager I was yelling at her, which I was not, and the manager basically told me I wasn't welcome here?!?! in all my years I have never ever been spoken to you like that. She refused to allow me to sit at a table and have service, and I had to sit at the bar where she scolded me and told me that she would kick me off the property if I spoke to her employees. Absolutely horrible... She has no business and management. I only wish I had gotten her name, but I can tell you that this is December 5 in the evening, so that's who was working, she treated me horribly. read more

We found this place on the recommendation of our Air BNB host, who listed it as one of her Top 5 choices in the Area. We went here after a beautiful day at Bethel Church here in Redding. I ordered a Greek Pizza, and it was a cornucopia of beautiful flavors. I would almost say the pizza redefines in my mind what is possible with the simple canvas of pizza. Giant cloves of cooked garlic were present everywhere. Building a stable of go to places here for our next conference at Bethel. Amazing! We (2 of us) were here in the bar area on Sun., Oct. 5, 2025 @ 7 pm. Not busy at all. Had the fish tacos, Louie salad & Jalapeno Tater Tots. The Fish tacos were really good, the shrimp salsas great (nice & light), the Jalapeño Tator Tots are awesome! Just the right amount of spice & the sauce to go with it, very complimentary. Our server Anna was excellent! She was friendly, sharp and worked hard. If you want to lose weight, order the Louie salad. It comes with two large long stalks of romaine salad, and shrimp that come on a spit. In order to eat it you'll have to wrestle with and process this salad for awhile to make it edible. I've never been disappointed in all the times I've visited, which says a lot about their consistency. Overall, this is a reliable spot for good dining in Redding. I waited for three "eh" experiences to leave a 1 star review. CR Gibbs used to feel like small business, and it just doesn't now. The food island feel is chain restaurant quality, frozen chicken, overpriced for its value salads that can't be split because of the size- which by the way you're not "allowed" for some reason any longer. I don't want to consume 1,000 calories when I eat out for lunch and have a glass wine. It's just... yuck. I came here first a Bloody Mary while I had my phone screen repaired a month ago- and dang. Crap Premix, and nothing special. Just overall bummer. If I want overpriced for what I'm paying for, I'm going to cattleman's. read more

The food was okay. I got the short rib tacos and just wished the meet was a little bit more flavorful. The pizza was super fluffy and had good flavor. My lemon drop tasted a little off I wish it had more of a lemon crisp taste. I wouldn't order another one . Bartender was very nice and made a round of chocolate cake shots for my party and our server was excellent. Thanksgiving dinner! They usually have a big buffet, and we've enjoyed it for years. This year they changed to a plated dinner, no substitutions, and nothing off the menu. But it was delicious! The turkey was a generous serving, moist, and delicious. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes and the stuffing was also moist and delicious. The green beans were lightly tossed and crunchy - full of fresh flavor and the salad was fresh, with strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Everything was made in-house, with the gravy the final yummy topper. We brought our pumpkin pie home, and I'm sure it's very good as well. Thanks to all the staff (especially Brandon) who worked on this holiday - from our point of view, it was a great meal and well worth it. The only thing I really missed was sweet potatoes. I have to say I was very underwhelmed by the short rib tacos. A bit flavorless, and the house made salsa wasn't much better.

Food was amazing. Started with the poke nachos, fresh tuna on a bed of fried wontons with cucumber, radishes, and a spicy creamy sauce. Me and my friends crushed that within minutes .Our three orders were the venison burger, fish and chips, and the blackened chicken salad. Burger was cooked perfectly and was a good combination of saltyand sweet with the quality meat, bacon and jams they put on there. Fish was flakey and crisp! Salad was fresh and had a variety of toppings. The waitress was nice and friendly but was a bit over the top for my liking, which is my only complaint or I would have given five stars. As usual we sat at the bar. The bar service was great. We tried the fried chicken with mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was awesome. Are bartender I believe his name was Sam was awesome also.
