The couple next to me had to leave as their lunch time expired, without even getting to eat. I am sure service will improve. The location is fine, they should get a lot of business. This was my first time here with my mom. I had the little less size pot roast which is the smaller portion. It was really flavorful. It came with green beans and mashed potatoes. Downside was the green beans were really salty so I needed something to balance it out so I asked for rolls. My mom had the little less country fried steak, she liked it and had no complaints of her food. Only thing about our time here was that service could be better. Our server only came around once when I asked her to; which was for the rolls. Other than that, she only checked up on the other tables around us and didn't come around for our drinks. I've been here a few times in the last couple years and the food has been great. This time was disappointing to say the least. Very very unhappy and was miserable the whole time. First they try to scrunch everyone into one small seating area but I still have to wear a mask standing up what the hell is the point? So asked for a bigger booth as the w of us couldn't scrunch into those super tiny small booth for 2 kids. So the guy said ok let me wipe this other table off and you can sit there but then after a few minutes we are lead to a completely different booth in the back of the restaurant. Ok weird not sure what happen to the table you were wiping down but whatever. Then we get our water and had ask for some lemons which the guy apparently forgot then brings them after we finish our water at this point since he was gone so long. So sitting around with very loud music playing (not cool, I am not at a bar) for over 45 minutes with still no food but others around us getting their food and seeing the to go orders coming out. NEVER ONCE did our server come to check on us, check our drinks, or even update us on our food! We saw him several times in the area that they had everyone clustered eating clearing tables walking around talking to other staff. NEVER ONCE looked in our direction, WTH so I had to get out of my seat to go to him to ask him why we had not gotten our food and I got a lame excuse of them being understaff. So how is everyone else with bigger parties getting their food but 2 people with 2 easy orders still havnt even gotten their water refilled in that whole time???.? Absolutely NO excuse for this piss poor ignoring service! In this supposedly time of trying to support business to keep them open that we hear allll day long, apparently it the support is not needed for this business! Went after playing hockey tournament game for lunch with party of five. Wait ten minutes to be seated, no one says one word to use after getting to table for 15 minutes. I had to return on a Friday to take advantage of their special, "all the fried fish you can eat"!! I was not disappointed. Deep fried crispy and very flavorful crusted cod fish, quite moist and fresh tasting. Friendly staff, clean environment including the bathroom. The fish came with coleslaw, great tasting french fries, and splendid tasting hush puppies. The refill consisted of two large pieces of fish and two hush puppies, and the offer to keep bringing this plate until you say you have had enough. For $10.99 this was the bomb. My coworkers and I had a break from work and one of my coworkers had actually ate at the Black Bear Diner before and suggested on having breakfast at this establishment. Great environment and cool how the menu is made from newspaper. I was really excited to eat at Black Bear Diner since the food is always a 10 out of 10. I usually order something different every time because every dish they seem to have on the menu is delicious. I go to the one on Baseline but this time, we came here and we were extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the food. I am not sure how they could go so wrong on pancakes, hash-brown and ham. The food was undercooked and tasteless even after adding salt and hot sauce. The pancakes had a doughy texture. Everything seemed to have been cooked single sided and served. The waiter saw my pancakes and before I could say anything she asked what was wrong with them. She was kind enough to remove the pancake charge. Her service was amazing however I came for the food and we couldn't finish because it was so bad. I am never coming back to this location and I hope they find a better cook because if new customers come here first, they will never know how amazing any other Black Bear Diner actually is. read more

Just ate here today. Food was really good. Service was ok. Sat close to the kitchen so I had a front row seat to the chaotic activities of the waitresses. They were very loud and obnoxious and sometimes rude to each other but never did the customers see that they were boarder line out of control. Starting off with food was decent. We had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated after hearing 3 different reasons to why it was taking so long with only one family ahead of us. After being seated at a very small booth for 4 adults and one child(there were bigger booths around where we were seated)we were told it would be awhile before we got our drink orders, which was a nice heads up even though there was maybe 8 parties already seated. The hostess took our drink orders which was nice. After being seated it was about 10 minutes before we were able to place our orders, which was not an issue. After placing our orders we had an HOUR wait before four of the five meals were brought to us, and another 10 minutes for the sandwich to arrive. This place is so inconsistent food is never the same quality. Is it really that hard to cook eggs? Over medium eggs should NOT have snotty runny egg whites!!! Went for breakfast on Sunday. Had a short wait, but, the food was ok. The service was something to be desired. The waitress came around once to ask how it was, and when we told her the hash browns were undercooked she said, "what can I do?". At that point she should have offered something to make up for the low quality food. Then she proceeded to give us the bill. We did ask for a refill on coffee and she never came back. We were hungry so stayed and ordered. They were out of 3 or so of the lunch sandwiches! No turkey, reuben and Tri-tip. so we ordered a sandwich - it came with mold on the bread. The family and I have been here a few times. We decided to treat some of our nephews and cousin to brunch. We got to this location and okay 35 min wait it's New Year's Day we get it. So we finally get to sit it's about 11:45am. Waitress takes our drink order... brings drinks.... 15 min go by she comes to take our food order..... next we wait 1 hour for our food to be complete and brought out.. I was starting to think our waitress didn't put in our order when there were 4 other tables who sat about 15-30 minutes after us and they were getting their food before us; we didn't order anything difficult just your basic breakfasts and a burger. We did not leave the restaurant till almost 1:30pm... there is NO way it should have taken that long from the time we sat till the time we left. The place was empty by the time we finished. Oh I forgot to mention after all that time waiting I got burnt to the crisp hash browns. I asked for new ones by the time I received them I wasn't hungry anymore. So disappointing probably will never go back, and yes one bad experience after I have been somewhere a few times does it for me. read more

Black Bear Diner!....let me see. Where do I start? First of all, they are decked out with bear gear. Which is the cutest, it makes you feel like you're eating in a lodge in some backwoods town. (This feeling btw is a good one lol). You get to sneak away from the busy life of a "city life" to enjoy some fresh treats. I always enjoy their bears special, which you get to choose your style eggs and whether you'd like pancakes, waffles, biscuits or sausage, bacon etc. i recently tried their chorizo scramble & it is great. All their portions are large, enough to share if you'd like. Although everything seems too good that you may not want to share. Haha And dessert?? Make sure you leave room because their pies are to die for!! I typically take a chocolate pie home & myself & my fiance will enjoy it later. Great spot! Kid friendly! Family friend!
