It was about a week after our son's wisdom teeth removal that he wanted to eat out instead of the mush he's been eating at our house. We decided on Village Inn near our house as he could eat the pancakes and eggs without disturbing his healing gums. We were seated promptly and our server showed up soon thereafter to take our drink orders. Even though it was early evening, we all ordered breakfast fare for our meals. My son got the pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage patties...all items he could enjoy without until his gumline is fully healed. My bacon was good...ordered it crispy just so it wouldn't come out limp. Nobody enjoys that! My country potatoes were bland...it was just potatoes and no peppers, onion, or seasoning. I should have ordered the hash browns instead. The eggs were fine...hard to mess those up unless you ordered them prepared in a more difficult way. The restaurant interior was clean and well-lit. I didn't have to brush off my table or the booth before sitting down. We had a nice view out the window (to the parking lot...but still nice to have a window). Overall, Village Inn fulfilled our objective. It's not a place I dine at more than once a year, but I was satisfied with our dining experience. read more

Hubby & I had to run some errands yesterday so we stopped by for lunch. We were seated right away. Our server came to the table in a timely manner. We both ordered iced teas. Hubby ordered the club sandwich on sourdough bread with fries. I ordered the turkey bacon avocado melt, no tomato, Swiss cheese instead of pepper jack, on sourdough bread with fries. The food was really good. I love that the turkey is roasted turkey breast and not lunch meat. The only lunch meat I like is roast beef. Service was good & the food came out in a timely manner. The left overs were good as well. The only reading for the 4 stars is my sandwich & fries were only warm instead of hot when they came out. read more

So many great memories of this establishment from state to state as my family has grown. It's been years, but had downloaded their app. a while back for National Pie Day; as again remembrance of their pies we'd buy on special occasions. Additionally, they have great rewards perks for earning points for savings either dining in or out & these offers can even be used towards desserts as well. We dined in yesterday, it was about Noon and not too busy. We were sat right away. In going back to the app. had received a notification on a new spicy chicken sandwich advertised, so my kids and I were interested in trying it. My son and I got that and my daughter got their BTL. The menu has naturally changed over the years, yet they still offer an amazing variety of breakfast selections like their popular skillets. The lunch menu has plenty of options and dinner is always those cozy comfort foods for choices. This chain is so underrated! Their prices in today's economy are better than most. It's that diner feel friendly focus with a pleasant atmosphere, hometown humble service and honesty good simple food. The chicken sandwiches were tasty. Fries were seasoned nicely and cooked just the way we like them- crunchy! The service and staff were professional and engaging. Points received at payment and will earn to place a pie order around the holidays. A tradition to rebuild and a grand way to carry on many more memories. Let's help in remembering, considering and enjoying these places that still exist today from our past in hopes to keep them thriving: before we miss them when their gone. This location is one of the few in the Phoenix area I know outside of my usual one on Signal Butte as many have shuttered of the last few years with the COVID era. I was in the mood for pie and a side salad as I love their ranch dressing, so I met up with a coworker friend as he lived in this area. I go in there a lot and usually it is not too bad but last night was the worst service I had ever gotten, not to mention the food. We ordered a triple cheeseburger and got a double, when asking about it, I was told there was nothing she could do about it. I asked for green beans and got broccoli. The burger tasted like it had been floating in water as the bun. It was horrible. No one would do anything about it, I was told "she is just learning". Very Disappointed We were so excited when Village Inn generously offered to donate dinner for our nonprofit's fundraiser. Their support meant we could redirect those funds toward other event needs. Unfortunately, the night before the event, when we called to confirm pickup for our order (meant to feed 100 guests), we were told the manager who arranged it had been fired -- and that our order was not on their books. After a long discussion, they offered a few pies, 20 half burritos, and a small fruit platter -- which was kind, but nowhere near what had been promised. With almost no notice, we had to scramble to find a chef, buy groceries, and prepare dinner for 100 people without the funds we had counted on. It was an incredibly stressful situation, and I truly feel they could have done more to make things right -- perhaps by reaching out to another Village Inn location for help or offering a small donation toward the meal. We appreciate the small gesture they did make, but the experience was extremely disappointing overall. read more

Dried up crepes with a 8 inch string inside!!!! No idea what kind of string but thicker than floss. Dried up biscuits and not enough gravy to keep it decent. The bacon seems to be thin instead of thick cut (that's new) The fruit was so tasteless you could taste the corn syrup they had to pore on it. My daughter got sick eating it. Usually they're a lot better, so I hope they get this fixed..... This is a fairly typical chain style restaurant that offers breakfast lunch and dinner. Nothing spectacular to see on the inside. Very clean. They have a nice menu for breakfast and for lunch and dinner. We came for the pie and we were not disappointed as usual. They have a nice selection of pies. On Wednesdays you can get a free piece of pie with a purchase! My wife got her usual the peanut butter pie and it's always good. I went for something a little different this time and got the key lime pie. Not the best piece of key lime pie I've ever had but it was good. The only thing that could have been a little bit better is that the coffee was just a little lukewarm. I would have liked to warmer coffee. read more

The customer service here is excellent. The staff immediately greets you, the server is quick to take your order, and management comes by to make rounds and ask how everything is going. Compared to other diners with comfort and breakfast food, this restaurant is very clean and has a cozy atmosphere. Some booth cushions right behind our table were being replaced/cleaned, which I thought was weird because we could have been seated somewhere else while that work occurred. The food wasn't cold, but it wasn't really hot either. We waited a long time for the food even though there were only two or three other parties in the dining area. Kind of lukewarm, so the sirloins weren't as good as they could have been. They were cooked properly though and still tasted nice. I wouldn't go with the mashed potatoes again. They had the texture and bland taste of instant potatoes with limited seasoning, and the gravy was bland. The coleslaw, but at least it wasn't drenched in sauce. This place is known for their pies though, and they did not disappoint. My father in law ordered a lemon merengue to take home, and the family was happy with the treat. This was a good experience, and I'd recommend if you're in the area and seeking comfort food with dessert. read more

Village inn is located at the corner of Gilbert cross roads right opposite chase bank. We went for a Saturday breakfast and the place had what seemed like some regular customers and mixed crowd. The menu was very basic but what surprised me was it's very old school, seemed like menu hasn't changed for years together. There was no avacado toast or any of the new food items. We went with veggie omelette, pan cake and sourdough toast. The veggie omelette was good but couldn't eat the pancake it was too mediocre and tasted very doughy. Absolutely horrible service. I go in alone, easy order, omelette and an English muffin. Only person in the restaurant. Hour before close. Waitress barely said hello, wasn't friendly. Acted annoyed that she had to serve me. Get my food and English muffin was cold, I mean like right out the bag cold. Un-toasted. So I figure, hey mistakes happen, no big deal. So I politely tell her it's cold and not toasted and ask if she'd mind toasting it. No apology, no sure thing our mistake, I got a "yeah." She grabs it and walks off. Then 10 minutes later, she brings it back sits it on the table and walks off. I say thank you, she says nothing. Then when she brings the check, she stands there with the card reader in hand and hovers while she waits for me to enter her tip. Unbelievable. I politely tell her I'm having a hard time tipping because I felt she was rude and dismissive. Again, an attitude and zero apology. I still have her a $5.00 tip which was well over 25% just so she couldn't claim to be the victim of a cheapskate tipper. But yeah, I won't be back. Horrible. read more

I only rated a two because we actually love you guys. If not for that, Ashley your evening manager, would have caused you a negative zero. The ball was dropped due to her. She is useless, sorry to sound so mean. The times we have gone in the evening, she is there, and is a slacker. Recently we went, it was dead slow like always, and had to wait nearly 10 minutes for someone to seat us. No one was to be found. She comes out, not even in a friendly manner, dressed in house clothes. She seats us without saying anything and then disappears to the back for a while. I don't think we saw her the rest of the night. You guys can do better. If it weren't for your great am staff (Mary is our favorite), and the awesome breakfasts, we would never go there again. I ordered Pepsi. My daughter ordered hot tea. The gal brought us both hot tea and I told her I had asked for Pepsi. So she went back and brought me pepsi didn't bring my daughter cream like she asked for her tea. Then another gal brought us the original order of Dulce de Leche. We were surprised as we were told, they were out of them. We never saw our waitress until she came by later with our receipt. Went to the car and I noticed she gave me apple and gave my daughter the correct cherry.So I went back in and said, I never ask for apple. We were out for a nice dinner. The first thing that occurred was our silverware had dried food on the fork, we called the waiter over and he brought back new silverware. The second set also had dried food on the fork. We asked to see the manager and when she finally showed up she says I'm sorry that the waiter should have checked the silverware before giving it to us. That was it and to top it off the table next to us had three older people and one gentleman found a two in piece of plastic in his salad. This was on Wednesday is pie night at Village Inn. The waiter was not attentive and we had to ask him for everything. The quality of food has gone down hill so much and the prices are ridiculously high for what you get. The manager didn't bother to check on us or even offer any kind of discount for our terrible dining experience. We got the Bill and proceeded to the cashier who was also the hostess. When she asked how was your dinner we both tried to explain to her how awful it was. She didn't want to hear any of it and actually told us to get out of the restaurant. I told her that I was going to contact the corporate company and she said go ahead, I could care less. She was extremely rude and snarky in front of a couple of customers coming in to the restaurant. They had a frightening look on their face. I asked the hostess her name and I think she said Shondra and go ahead and report me , nothing will be done. That's why I'm writing this review because she should not be in her position of customer service when she treated two paying customers with disrespect and was so extremely rude. I vowel to never return to this Village Inn again and am letting everyone know that it was not a good place to have a pleasant experience. We eat out on a daily basis all over the nation and I have never in my 61 years on earth been disrespected and told to leave the restaurant by a hostess in my life. My husbands potatoes and sausage were burnt, the egg was still raw, not runny but raw , my child's pancakes were still doughy, my daughters crepe tasted more like an omelette and her hash browns were burnt also, and my sons potatoes were also burnt. Hubby wanted a cherry pie. So we call and ask whether this location has any on hand. The answer is a resounding yes. So we immediately order it online and then arrive maybe 15 minutes later to be told, 'Sorry, but we don't have any cherry pies.' What? We literally just called. We ordered it (and paid for it) immediately. But now, minutes later you don't have any? We were offered others but we declined and requested a refund. Well that requires a manager (of course it does) so we needed to wait for him. He comes and shares that he's the one that told us they had them but that someone took them from his hiding spot? WHAT? I'm sorry. WHAT? Where's the hiding spot?!? In a refrigerator, I hope! I honestly couldn't be more disappointed in the entire experience. Oh.. and instead of crediting my the card that we used to pay, the refund was in cash. HoHum. The great cherry pie fiasco of 2024 will remain a blemish on Village Inn's reputation. read more
