When you get a tray of drinks spilled on you accidentally... and the manager doesn't care enough to come over to your table because you didnt throw a fit?!?!?!!? I get it it was an accident things happen and our server Cameron made sure we were ok and apologized, but to know the manager didnt care enough to stop by? Yes we paid our bill took care of our server Cameron without complaints till the end when we still didnt see the manager. Then to hear the manager say that he knew what happend, but then i said it was a tray of drinks spilled on us... he said I didnt know it was a tray of drinks. The let us know that the other manager left and not passing off the information the the closing management team. Tells me there is a serious communication issue. When a table is not upset when a tray of drinks are spilled on them, you would think, hey they are not pissed off, that is the best case scenario. Worst case scenario, it could have been a full three sixty and we could have been really upset and causing a scene, and we didn't. Now on to the food, the burnt ends were probably some of the fattiest ones I ever had.Sixty percent of them had a lot of fat on it. The brisket was moist and tender but had an odd flavor to it And the georgia pork was delicious. I also got the loaded red mashed potatoes, which was good along with the banana pudding, which was not overly sweet. Cameron was the only saving grace to the evening. Haven't done a review in a while then Yelp popped up on my phone asking to do a review so here goes - Ah Famous Dave's. This is a classic example of how quality of service can make or break return visits. First off, their food is great! Pulled pork is on point paired with their spicy pickles and Devil's Spit BBQ sauce. Throw in a side of their firecracker green beans with corn bread and you're eating good! I used to frequent Famous Dave's all the time. Until. I would say it's been 3 years since I walked through their doors in Mesa, AZ. Wasn't crazy busy and as usual, I walked past the crowd waiting for their tables and went into the bar and took a seat. The manager came over and told me, "next time wait until you're called before sitting down". I responded, "even when sitting up at the bar?" He stomped away. That's when things got weird. No visits from the bar tender, no visits from the staff. It's like I had a scarlet letter on my forehead. I just sat there. I didn't call anyone over. I wanted to see if my suspicion was correct. Was I being punished for not following the rules. (although every establishment I've ever been to, waiting to sit is for the restaurant side of the house). Back and forth, servers were bringing out hot meals all around me. After 15-20 minutes, I eventually got up and made my way to the door. That's when the manager rushed over and began apologizing and asking me to come back and sit down, he'd make sure I would be taken care of. Told him no thanks, he's lost my business. Like I said, it's been 3 years. If you get served, enjoy the food. I'm sure you will! Just don't break their rules or you're going to sit in the corner and be made an example of. What do you think? It had been a while since I was here last so I was happy when my friend chose this place for dinner. It was quiet in the restaurant. We must have drawn the crowd in because after we ordered it got busy! We split the big Sampler for our meal & had Cameron as our waiter. A once beloved spot that my family and I have enjoyed for years has gone down hill tremendously. From food, to service, to the vibes that just makes it not worth the expense here. We got the onion strings (equivalent to the onion bloom) good to share between 6 of us. We got their all American bbq feast with brisket and chicken strips. The food was warm, not hot. Just warm. The chicken was pink in some areas. We had to pull the chicken apart into chicken pieces to eat it , and the brisket was dry, good flavor but dry. We put bbq sauce on it but it wasn't good. Beans were cold, and the saddest part was they didn't have the hidden hot sauce available. They were out and we were a little disappointed. Service was okay, bestie was very kind and attentive. The only thing I did not appreciate was having them say our total out loud since we were paying in cash. Instead of being discreet and mindful for the surrounding tables or handing us the check book. After this visit, we won't be back. It'll be missed but it's not worth it any more. read more

I have to say I think this is the best chain barbecue I've had in AZ so far. The chicken is so well cooked it's falling off the bone and the bbq sauce is great. The sides are all good but the corn bread muffin is absolutely delicious and fresh. I've been there before just for dessert too. The banana pudding, lemon and French silk pie are some of my favorites (and I'm very picky about banana pudding but this one is actually good). I also feel that barbecue portions should be large and I thought the size was great. I got a chicken leg and breast, two cobs of corn, a corn bread muffin, and a banana pudding all in one single protein meal. I was happy as soon as I opened it and saw the food was plentiful, warm and there was plenty of barbecue sauce. Food is nice and warm, they got the order just right. read more

Famous Dave's has a special place in my heart since I grew up eating here and the potato wedges in particular were my favorite. I still look forward to eating them decades later. Today I got the bread pudding for my sweet tooth and my birthday treat from Famous Dave's. It's always a winner in my book. Oh and for actual food, I got the chopped pork sandwich with potato wedges and a side of Mac n Cheese. I had a $15 Famous Dave's gift card I got from a Famous Dave's Yelp Elite dinner. I ate alone. So this lunch in the picture cost $16.79 cos I ordered 3 meats, 2 are the brisket for which I had to add $1 surcharge each, and 3rd catfish fingers. The brisket was better than I remember Little Miss BBQ. Dave's brisket was so soft and you can see the fat on the edge. I love fatty brisket. This was the best brisket I ever ate in my life . The sweet spicy sauce was perfect. I like sweet BBQ sauce. The corn muffin was the best I ever ate in my life, too. It has a crusty crumbly caramelized crust and the inside was so sweet and moist. Next time I wanna buy the cornbread and pickles to take home. Mac and cheese side was good too, but next time for extra $1, I am getting the chili. Besides their lunch menu till 4 pm, they also have another $10 menu, but the $10 menu does not have brisket on it. The lunch and $10 menus can be ordered from on the weekends too. Came in after seeing there BBQ sauce for sale in Walmart. All the pork items were okay. The chicken strips were very good especially with ranch. Corn on the cob was pure mush and tasteless and fries overcooked. Chili and beans were good. Overall the food and service was average. As we left a family with a baby in a stroller just came in and asked if hey could sit in a booth. Hostess said no. They asked for a manager who also gave them a no. Server was Brandon T. He gave excellent service. Very nice and accommodating. I ordered a mango tea and didn't realize it was also made with sweet tea, so he remade it for me with unsweetened tea. I had the stuffed baked potatoe with beef brisket side was sweet corn and it came with a cornbread muffin. It came out fast, and was delicious. It was a lot of food for under $12. My boyfriend was craving BBQ and I was so happy this restaurant offered fish so we could both get what we wanted lol. He said the burnt ends are his favorite! I got the sweetwater catfish fingers and they were really yummy with the sauce. The coleslaw was delicious. Loved all the sides honestly! The Mac n cheese is really unique because it has chopped up jalapeños and corn in it. It was really tasty, I just wish it was hot when it came out though. I tried all of their sauces and they were all sooooo good!!!! They have decently priced draft beer as well. The restaurant is very spacious and I loved the seating because it screams barbecue vibes somehow LOL. The server helping us was really attentive and friendly. Portions for lunch are small, but it filled us up and we didn't have any leftovers. Mac and cheese has a little jalapeño mixed in, but it's not spicy. I came on last thursday to check out their happy hour, which I've never had a chance. The restaurant was almost empty when I arrived, and got seated immediately in one of the booths. They have pretty good happy hour deals and were all big portions compared to the price. I ordered fried pickles, southside rib tips, 2 bones of St Louis-style, wings, and smokehouse grilled cheese. Everything was ranged from good to okay. Nothing was the best in my opinion. Fried pickles were thick cut, even so I liked them. Chicken wings and 2 bone ribs were okay. Nothing different or special. Rib tips gave me a mixed opinion. I also found them salty and smell really strong. I am not sure if I like them or not. Grilled cheese was good when it was hot/warm. The garlic flavor was a nice touch. In the end, I definitely needed to-go boxes. I was hungry when I walked in and ordered a lot lol. At least I could say all of the items I ordered were good if you wanna take them home and reheat them. Also, my waitress was so nice, and friendly, and she went above and behind. Had not been to a Famous Dave's since the COVID BS. Used to be one of my regular favorites. Shopping in the area, wife suggested we give them another try, and I'm glad we did. Friendly greeting, amiable server, we ordered. Wife had a cheeseburger with fries. My order, a lunch 2 meat combo of St. Louis ribs, burnt ends and a house salad. Includes a corn muffin and slice of toast. We split the salad which was fresh, and crisp. Hamburger was delicious with a nice char flavor. Burnt ends were excellent, rich and tasty, very little fat, a great choice. Now to the ribs... Dave's have been my favorite chain ribs for years. Many people rave about " fall off the bone ribs". Not my preference. They cook too long, they get soft and mushy. Dave's are perfect IMHO. Firm texture, but NOT tough or chewy. Nice seasoning, I detect an old bay flavor.
