Chosen location for 2nd annual 4th of July brunch! There was absolutely no one here at 12:30 when we got here, but it still took about 15-ish minutes for us to get 3 waffles. I was intrigued by their waffle of the month that I saw on Insta, but there wasn't any signage for it in the store that I could see. I got the Naughty Waffle and it was good! Why is it called the Naughty Waffle?? I also really liked the few bites of the savory waffle that my boyf got. They make good waffles! I had the special of the month which was a lemon poppyseed waffle with fruit on top! They were out of the compote so I got fresh fruit. A perfect waffle and more refreshing vs overly sweet! Very good. The staff was friendly. Food came out fast enough! I asked for a side of ham and they were easily able to do so! They might want to add sides of meat to the actual menu to offset their sweet menu! They had a huge list of coffees/drinks and fun syrups for them! You will get a waffle for just around $10 here. I feel like I visited a different place than all the reviews I'm seeing! I stopped by this week and had a great experience at BCWB. I hadn't been since college, when I'd go to the location on Como (which is now Vitality Roasting). I had my Coffee Compass BOGO drink, so I figured it was time to check out this new-to-me location. I was greeted soon after I got to the register but I needed a few minutes to decide. The staff was super nice and patient as I made my decisions, and they adjusted my waffle order toppings as requested. Someone new was being trained at the same time and the interactions sounded pleasant. I ordered a seasonal drink to have at the cafe - the honey rose latte. The sweetness and rose flavor were perfectly balanced. I was in the mood for a savory waffle, so I got the hashbrown waffle and it didn't disappoint. I like that the to-go boxes were easily accessible since I saved half of it for later! Finally, the matcha was decent enough - good matcha is very hard to come by in the Twin Cities but this did the job. I am surprised to see that Black has a 2.8 ranking on Yelp - it was absolutely epic when I was in undergrad several years ago. I came back last week while in town for a wedding and it maybe has declined a bit but not more than 5 stars to 4 stars honestly. The waffles are still flavorful with plenty of toppings! The service was a touch slow, but it did seem they were short staffed, so not a big deal. The cafe has decent seating but the booths definitely need some updating. It was pretty busy and so close to a college campus makes sense. The 'naughty waffle' was a bit dry, and needed more almond butter or syrup. There was enough toppings otherwise. My bestie said the 's'mores waffle' was missing something. Could be whipped cream, or something extra besides mini marshmallows and some chocolate. I was happy with my 'baked potato waffle'. It was heavy pepper and I was good with that, but might be too much for others. I will say I think they have one of the BEST London Fog drinks here. You definitely should try it. The service wasn't anything to brag about. We didn't get a welcome, a thank you, or a goodbye. The few workers that helped us were not personable or very friendly. Personally, we felt like more of a bother. This may be small to some people, but these things mean a lot to me. I was at Rosedale mall with my daughter and niece. Started to crave coffee since we can smell the aroma in the air. I knew that I was feeling tired and decided to go sit at the food hall while the kids shop. First thing you see is this coffee booth at the entrance. The service gets 2 stars, the food gets at least 4 stars, so I settled on an average of 3 for this experience. We came on Memorial Day around 12pm. They had several people dining in but there were still open tables and there was no line at the counter. We ordered some coffees and our waffles then went to sit down. Our coffees were brought out within 10-15 mins which wasn't too bad. I got a vanilla latte, my standard order at most coffee shops. This one was actually better than most vanilla lattes I've had! The vanilla flavor was strong without being overly sweet. My friend ordered an almond latte, it was supposed to be served iced but they brought it out hot. After fixing this mistake, she was super impressed with how good her drink was! Then the waiting began. The guy at the counter originally told us it would be about a 20-30 min wait, so I was expecting at least 30 mins. Once it got closer to 45 mins, it started to feel like a noticeably long wait and my husband went to ask how much longer it would be. We were informed that they were starting our waffles now, so not much longer. It took about a full hour before we got our food. This wouldn't have seemed like a terribly long time had it not been an order-at-the-counter place, plus they really didn't seem to be excessively busy. Luckily, the food was all really good when we did finally get served! I got the Apple Strudel which comes with baked apples, cinnamon, caramel, and whipped topping. The baked apples were soft and tasted delicious when combined with the caramel drizzle. The waffles themselves were soft and filling. I love that they came with tons of whipped cream on top too. My husband got the Fat Andrew which had peanut butter and bananas on top, he really enjoyed his as well. The waffles are very reasonably priced at $10 each despite being a pretty large serving size. If they could figure out how to be more efficient with their time management, I think this place could easily have an average of at least 4 stars because their coffees and waffle products are quite good. However, people come to a place like this for a quick breakfast, not a wait time that is more expected at a dine-in restaurant. read more

A group of us visited on a Sunday mid-morning around 10:45am. Walked in and quickly learned its seat yourself. Thankfully we found a large table right when we walked in; it's like it was meant for us. What I was very disappointed about is we never received any type of greeting when we walked in especially because staff were not busy helping other customers. A simple hello goes along way in my book. Even when I went up to the counter to order my meal/beverage, the gal wasn't friendly and very robotic in her response. Found this gem when going to visit a customer in the area and wanted a cup of coffee and something to eat! I love local coffee houses because they always seem to offer a unique food menu! so I came in and spent a couple hours reading and had to leave because it's about 90 degrees in there. I don't leave this bad review for the workers or food but because HOW do you have your workers working in such conditions. I felt so bad for them to have to work in just an incredibly HOT environment I couldnt even stay because it was that extremely hot. those poor workers fans wouldn't even help just circulate hot air they need to get air conditioning for their workers I prayed for Jesus to fix that for them because no worker deserves that it's inhumane. I would never be able to work a full shift there! I feel weak and tired and drained just being in that heat for a couple hours. whoever owns this place please do better for your workers bc they work hard for you and we're very kind to me. the matcha was great and she even brought it out to me. great customer service so treat your workers better I'm appalled at how incredibly HOT it was in there so I cannot go back which makes me sad bc other than that I'd love to come have a coffee and read everyday perhaps in the winter lol. read more

It didn't seem like it was that busy because there wasn't a line, but we were still told it would be a 30 minute wait for waffles. You order at the counter and then take your seat so if your with a bigger party you might have to wait longer for a seat but there is quite a bit of seating. Honestly though it was really hot in there, I definitely recommend getting a cold drink. I had the berry iced tea and it was good. Our waffles came out some time later piled high with whipped cream and beautifully decorated with toppings. Every bite was delicious! The cheesecake waffle tasted like cheesecake and my cinnamon, peanut butter, and banana waffle was well balanced with flavors. I can't wait to back as I'm still dreaming of the waffles.
