I filed a claim with my home warranty company, Old Republic, for service on my 20 year old built in microwave (Whirlpool). I received a call the same day from a Black Diamond representative who scheduled an appointment also on the same day. Apparently, they had a technician in the area, so it worked out for us. The technician was on time, friendly, and examined the microwave. We had an idea of what the issue was, and he confirmed it. Ultimately, we needed a major part, which required to remove the built in microwave from the cabinet. The technician ordered the part and returned within the same week. On the repair day, the technician was on time, professional, efficient, and successful with repairing the microwave. He was very careful with removing the microwave as not to damage any of our property in the kitchen. The challenge with home warranty companies is you never know what service provider will be assigned to your repair. In this case, Black Diamond Appliance Services did an excellent job. I'm super upset. I used my home warranty to request service for my refrigerator since the freezer side was not getting cold enough. The refrigerator side was working just fine. Black diamond was sent out by my home warranty. The technician was nice and customer service was good in the beginning. However, I don't know what the technician did but he made things 1,000 times worse. He "worked" for a while and eventually said he would need to come back another day and that he couldn't fix it. I was understanding and said okay. A little while after the technician left, I heard my refrigerator making sounds it didn't make before so I went to look at it and the temperature and both sides (freezer & refrigerator) side was super hot. Before the technician touched my refrigerator the temperature for the refrigerator side was working great (32°f - 35°f) and the freezer temperature would fluctuate between 10°f - 21°f. And after the technician "worked" on it, the refrigerator side is at 57°f and the freezer is at 45°f. I'm also noticing water underneath the refrigerator that I didn't notice before. I called black diamond and told them the technician made it worse and although I could live without using my freezer for a bit longer, I definitely needed my refrigerator. They weren't helpful at all. They claimed the issue already existed and they would be out on a future date. I had just bought groceries a day prior ($115) and they're all going to spoil. I called my home warranty and they said all they could do was send black diamond a recall which would make them come back out faster. I'm going to be out the $115 for my groceries, I no longer have a working refrigerator and its a 3 day weekend, and I'm stuck at this company's mercy to come back and fix the original issue AND the new bigger issue they created. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I called black diamond today (4 days since they broke/made my refrigerator worse) and the lady told me they called my home warranty and told them to send another contactor. I called my home warranty and was told black diamond DID NOT call them. So, black diamond lied to me. My home warranty called black diamond and spoke to them and then told me black diamond would be calling me to schedule a follow up appointment so that they can fix the original problem (freezer temperature fluctuating and not getting below 10°f) AND the new problem they created which is entire refrigerator is not cold enough (as of this morning both sides where 79°f). So far, I haven't gotten a call from black diamond. I will wait 24 hours and if I dont hear back, I will call my home warranty again. I am NOT letting this go. I have 3 young kids and thanks black diamond we are going on 5 days without a working refrigerator and thus having to survive off of fast food and non-perishable food/drinks. read more

Do not use this company - they are horrible!!! They were referred through my home warranty company and they are very inexperienced and unprofessional. They were called to repair my washing machine. They needed to order a part which takes an additional 5-7 days. The repairman says he fixed my washer, but once he left and I tried to use it, my washer did not work. I called the company immediately (within an half an hour) after I discovered that it was not working and they said they could not come back the same day and I have to wait for another appointment to get it repaired!! This is a long-overdue commendation of Black Diamond's technical expertise and exemplary service in the repair of our Dacor oven, which had somehow lost its capability to get hot, which meant it couldn't be used for any cooking or baking functions. Black Diamond was assigned to us by First American, our home warranty and appliance services provider, which has always been around to help us fix any appliance malfunction issues in the 10-plus years that we've been with them. Black Diamond impressed me right from the get-go, starting with the company's super-efficient scheduler -- I forget her name -- who tended carefully to our case during the first service visit by informing us on the phone when and where to expect our technician, right down to the very minute, to ensure that the technician found our home and that we did not have to wait around and waste time. She exercised the same meticulous care in scheduling for the subsequent visit. Vic, the technician, was a wonder. On the first service call, he quickly diagnosed the issue and without fuss, said he would be back with a fix on the second visit. Sure enough, Vic returned in about a week with the requisite part to fix our broken oven, which he got humming back to life in no time at all. And as important as Vic's technical mastery was his earnest and approachable manner. Vic was helpful with our questions, and we traded genial anecdotes comparing appliances of old -- stodgy but fairly reliable -- to modern-day electric marvels -- smart and sophisticated, but also prone to more vulnerabilities. One couldn't ask for a more proficient and affable service expert, IMHO. Black Diamond was assigned by my home warranty First American. They called me in a few hours and scheduled a dispatch for the next day. Artur, the technician arrived on time, performed several diagnostic tests and found the issue. He told that he will order the parts and come back to repair my washer. The parts arrived in about a week and Artur repaired my washer as promised. He is a knowledgeable technician with nice manners and respectful. I had a viscerally bad experience with this unprofessional, unscrupulous company. They were dispatched by my home warranty company because my dishwasher stopped working (suddenly, cycles weren't finishing/minor leaks occurring). The Black Diamond representative who called me to schedule the appointment was cartoonishly rude. I had family visiting and was hoping to have my washer fixed before they arrived, but the earliest Black Diamond could make it to me was 6 days out (after my family arrived). When I expressed frustration that it would take so long to dispatch someone, her response was, "It's a dishwasher. No one is dying." Rude for no reason is always a bad look but she DGAF. When the technician finally arrived a week later, he incorrectly assessed the issue and told me my dishwasher wasn't installed correctly because the door wasn't closing flush. Except that's wrong. The dishwasher worked perfectly for 3.5 years (since I bought my house), so, no, it wasn't installed incorrectly. I showed him that the door was opening too much/dipping down, and only then did he agree that the hinge had broken and/or needed to be replaced; the busted hinge is why the door wasn't closing. However, in his report to my home warranty company, he claimed again that the dishwasher was installed improperly, which somehow magically led to the hinge breaking after 3.5 years and counting. This is either incompetence or a lie/fraud. My home warranty company denied my claim. I had to go out of pocket to get a second opinion. That company confirmed the hinge broke due to normal wear and tear and that's what caused the door to not close. If you want disrespect and a mix of incompetency and/or fraud, this is the company for you. Zero stars. read more

We had an issue with our Thermador oven fan blower. It stopped working on one side of the large oven. Arthur from Black Diamond quickly diagnose the issue, immediately ordered and shortly there after received the part, and urgently scheduled the next convenient time to repair the oven. This is the review for Black Diamond Appliance Services: Vic (the technician) is not only very knowledgeable, but also professional. He arrived on time, checked out the washer, communicated to me what his plan was, ordered the parts immediately, and fixed the washer the second time he came out. Everything worked out like how he explained to me. He even explained everything that went wrong with my Whirlpool washer. When I asked him for advice regarding my dryer and proper care of each appliance, he was keen to share what he knew. Lucy (the office's manager) was very courteous and professional, too. When I called the office to check on the status of parts ordered, she said she would call me back to schedule appointment when parts arrived, and she did. I didn't have to call the second time. I had a washer service through my insurance and the technician initially diagnosed it to say they are not seeing anything wrong. I advised the technician to run the load with clothes and not run it empty. He finally ran it and immediately saw the issue. He advised it's a simple problem and they will wait for the authorization from insurance company. The invoice was prepared and only stated the drum with the issue. However, couple of days later I received notification that my repair was denied. I contacted my insurance company and they noted that the technician had listed multiple problems and blamed me for the issue. I contacted the service provider and they said they only have bent as the cause and I need to talk to my insurance. However, my insurance confirmed that the service provider is providing multiple defects and primary issue is owner's fault. None of this was shared with me by the service technician. These guys are unethical and I highly recommend to stay away. read more

We did not pull the refrigerator out for two days. We pulled it out because everything thawed out and melted all over our kitchen floor. Unsure how I broke it since nothing was working before I pulled the fridge out. We were told that everything should be up to speed in 24 hours except by 48 hours the fridge kept getting warmer. Its convenient to say the customer broke something when I touched nothing until it was clearly broken. I pulled off the panel to see what was even done. The tech did the work and didn't show anybody the work that was done. We never received any documentation on the work done, no signature confirming the work. A picture was taken before the work and after the tech returned to inform us we broke it. I saw no picture of the work done the day it was done. How do you blame the customer when the customer wasn't shown the work done and after its clearly broken, the customer is interested in seeing the work. Because the panel was opened and the customer gently rubbed the same brush you guys use across the coils and it looks clean; we all of a sudden broke it. We will be filing a lawsuit in small claims court. We went from having a working fridge and a working freezer except our ice cream was soft; to a completely broken and useless fridge forcing me to buy a new one. No responsibility on your part. All we got was a tech telling us we broke it and not even an estimate to fix it. Nothing to attempt and resolve it. We got no paperwork on work done and nothing in writing about the problem we currently have. No picture of the work done. I guarantee your tech broke it, closed it up and left. Then blamed me for doing this. I called the office and was told they don't give things in writing. Only verbal. HEADS UP!!!! I CALLED THE OFFICE TO GET AN ADDRESS AND WAS INFORMED THEY DON'T HAVE AN ADDRESS. I AM PUTING PAPERS TOGETHER TO FILE A SMALL CLAIMS LAWSUIT AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME AN ADDRESS. HEY BLACK DIAMOND. Since we were never informed what the problem is, I will get a freon kit and see exactly where the leak is coming from since all of this will be useful in the future. I want to let those reading know that I am not someone who reports things but this has become personal. The disrespect from the person on the phone, telling me they have no address, and Ash disrespectfully telling my wife she broke it and only saying we will tell the insurance company you broke it. Not even a discussion about the problem, can it be fixed, nothing. Ash was upset when we told him we would hold off on the $250 maintenance they recommended. I will admit that the first phone call I made to their office I was upset and left a message where I could have been calmer. Instead of attempting to help me the next day when I called, she refused to do anything I asked, such as getting me a document on what they did and something in writing about what they say the new problem is. If I could give them a 0 stars I would. I went through my home warranty company who used Black Diamond Appliances for dishwasher repairs. When the technician first came he didn't have the parts available and said it would take a week to order them. Instead of putting everything back together he cut some rubber pieces near the opening of the door, which had nothing to do with the heating system problem that I was initially experiencing. Instead of communicating to me that he cut this rubber piece and that my dishwasher wasn't going to work until he had the parts. He just told me to sign some paperwork and left. Frustrated with this situation, I called the company directly and told them I'm not able to use my dishwasher since their technician worked on it. The company's customer service person just laughed at me on the phone and said there is nothing they can do until they get the parts. Upon using this service for a dishwasher repair, Aris came out and noted "no failure found". I have a couple of issues with that. Firstly I wouldn't have called if there was no issue. I made a subsequent call to say I am still having a dishwasher problem. He says, he will order the part. Which brings me to the other issue. What part! If a part was necessary why didn't you say so when you came out. Still having the problem and no solution somehow it's my fault, I called too late after 30 day policy. First time my warranty company (First American) sent the most qualified and courteous expert to repair my LG refrigerator. His name was Vic. After his diagnosis, they ordered the part and when it arrived they contacted me immediately to schedule the actual repair. They were kind enough in calling me 30 minutes before his arrival to alert me (big smile!) Vic was exceptionally polite and communicative and friendly. His knowledge of the issue (and everything refrigerator) was astounding. He replaced the part - which included soldering/welding, as if he was rebuilding an engine. Then tested it to make sure it was foolproof. And now, my refrigerator is COLD and my freezer is making ice cubes again! They came out to repair refrigerator from call from my home warranty company. The repair guy knelt down and looked at bottom panel and said you have dirt on your coils and they need to be cleaned. Then he informed me that our home warranty doesn't cover it since they consider it maintenance. So I asked him how much to do, he virtually laughed and said his company charges $500 to clean. I contacted Black Diamond through First American Home Warranty for my washing machine that would not spin at the end of a cycle. I contacted them 7/18/20 and it took them until 7/24/20 to come out. That was apparently their earliest appointment available. A man came out and skipped through the washer cycle and saw the machine spin and said there was nothing he could do because it worked. I told him when I do a full load of not skipping parts of the cycle it didn't work. He just left. I tried a load once he left and I had the same issue of no spinning. My clothes were soaking wet. When I called Black Diamond back, the earliest they could come back was 8/3/20. They sent the same repair man out to me. Once again he skipped through the cycles and said it worked. I told him he needs to let the cycle go independently to see it not spin. He said he did not have time to watch the whole cycle. I asked him to look at whatever belts or gears could be going bad. He said he checked everything and it's fine. I knew he didn't. After contacting my home warranty about this issue, they sent out a different company called Arpi Appliance Repair Services. They came out today and the man fully inspected the machine, understood the issue, took apart the washer, and quickly saw I needed a new clutch. He went to his truck and got one, installed it and everything is working good as new. Black Diamond was too lazy to try and find the issue TWO times and wasted 3 weeks of my time. I have insurance with first American home warranty. when my dryer quit drying they sent a service order to black diamond appliance services. The guy came out looked at the dryer said it'll be $150 for me to research and repair it.
