Saturday evening 7:30 found us in a Moot House booth. For a start we ordered the beet salad. Menu says roasted beets but we think these tasted boiled or steamed. That said, they were perfectly cooked, adorning a mixed green salad. I probably would call this a mixed green salad with beets, rather than a beet salad. Greens made up 80% of it. Still a decent salad. For mains, I ordered their Fish and Chips (2 and 3-piece available) and she ordered the Parmesan Sea Bass. The fish and chips were great, crisp, not greasy, and the shoestring fries were fantastic. Sea bass was tasty, Parmesan crusted and pan seared with charred lemon and capers on it. Yum! In prior visits we've had their wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, Reuben, Caesar salad and a few other items. Some better than others (loved the Brussels!) but all were above average for the price. Usually, the food is good and the service is excellent. Well, today she and I had dinner and I was very disappointed. She had the Pub Steak which is her go to dish, although over cooked, she was pleased. I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak. Unfortunately, the steak was almost well done, not even a hint of pink. I am sure most of us have experienced that at some point. I pointed out the problem to the staff and a 'manager' promptly came out to apologize and offer me a new steak. I accepted the offer and finished my potato while watching my mother enjoy her steak. The manager returned with my recooked steak and asked me to check the doneness while she was there. Guess what, it was still overcooked! I did not want to wait for a third steak, so I be agreed to eat the steak, which was OK but not the juicy medium rare ribeye that I expected for $45. To top it off and the real impetus for writing this review was when the manager suggested that if I want a medium rare steak I should just order it rare. Really? To close, all of the wait staff were great, friendly, and efficient. Maybe the waiter was new, because he said that he was sure he could get a discount on the bill for the trouble. I wasn't fishing for discounts, I just wanted to eat a good steak. Unfortunately, the management did not share his interest in admitting their failure in the kitchen. I came kind of at a in between hour between lunch and dinner and I still got very good service even though it was very slow at the time. It's very large restaurant and can host probably 200 people. I would say everything had kind of an Asian Cajun flair. As far as the seasonings and the spices went. Otherwise, you could get traditional seafood, and they had an extremely large menu which I was kind of surprised about. Located right on Harmony it's really easy to find. Decided to try something new and took my father-in-law there for his birthday. We had reservations for 6:30pm and as we arrived, a large bus full of 50 college hockey players also arrived. It took us over 30 minutes to have somebody take our drink order and another 15 minutes for those drinks to arrive. We were seated with a happy hour menu, which was over and I had to ask the bartender for a drink menu and wine list. My water glass was very dirty and nobody ever came by the table in 90 minutes to refill our water. We were seated right next to the bar too. We were continually informed by our waitress and a barback that things were slow due to the large party in the other room. After 90 minutes passed and we still had not received our food, we asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came to our table, she did not introduce herself, so we had to assume she was the manager. Rather than own the mistake, she proceeded to throw our waitress under the bus. Our waitress was great and doing the best she could, but the restaurant was severely understaffed. They offered us free bread. We finally decided to get up and walk out and leave without being served our food. The manager chased us out the front door to bring our food in to-go boxes and as we were leaving, the entire hockey team was also leaving and getting back on their bus. So in the time we arrived for our reservation and after 90 minutes without being served, they came, ate and left. We were told this was a learning moment for her waitress, however, should be a learning moment for management to staff appropriately or just close the restaurant down to feed 50+ hockey team members. Service was great, we were greeted promptly and everything came out great. We ordered; French onion soup - it was good and would order again. Chicken tenders and fries - pretty standard and would order again. However, ordered ranch and mild buffalo on the side and the buffalo sauce was so sweet, not tangy or even mildly spicy and they do charge $1 extra for sauce. Definitely will not order that again.
