We did make reservations prior to dining to make sure we had a table. Parking is a bit of a hassle but that's no fault of the restaurant. Fire and grain is located inside the Hershey lodge. Mostly all parking spots are taken up by the hotel guests so it's a bit tricky to find open parking. We had a party of 4 dining that night. Very friendly staff , especially when we had questions about the menu. We chose to start off with the burrata appetizer. We thought it would be a nice size to split with 4 but it turned out to be quite small. Only 1 slice of bread , small drizzle of balsamic and just 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and maybe a half handful of arugula. Maybe make this a bit larger of a portion as a starter. For entree I chose the pappardelle bolognese - house made fresh pasta , Italian sausage and short rib ragu with ricotta cheese. Needed a bit more of the sausage and short rib but still very good. My wife had the shrimp Alfredo. Very tasty as well with plenty of shrimp and another delight with the house made pasta which takes it to another level. A surprise was that the tails were already removed from the shrimp to make it easier to enjoy. For dessert we'd share the chocolate peanut buttter mousse cake! So rich but so delicious! We were just in on Monday, right after 4 when they opened. We were promptly greeted and had drinks in front of us, within minutes. I ordered a chocolate martini (8.50 during happy hour) and the wife ordered a beer (4 during happy hour). We also ordered the bruschetta (I'm fairly certain it was also 8.50 during happy hour). The lady operating the bar Friday night took our call and helped us - I don't recall her name but we were super tired and hungry and she took over from the hostess out front and took excellent care of us! They made my wife a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy with asparagus and I ate a Delmonico steak that was so tender and juicy - I could not have been better served! I ordered the Delmonico steak cooked medium-well, but unfortunately, it arrived well-done and was overcooked. It would have been helpful if the waitress had checked in to see how the steak was prepared. I didn't even get a chance to have it remade. I ate a few parts that had more fat since that wasn't dry and overcooked. After dinner, we were eager to look at the dessert menu, but after waiting a while, our kids decided to venture next door for ice cream at the coffee shop. It seemed the waitress may have been busy with other tables. Ultimately, we opted to pay the bill and leave. On a positive note, the drinks were fantastic, and the restaurant is very family-friendly, offering various kid-friendly options even for entrées. Ate here twice during my most recent trip, both times for breakfast. It was buffet only and honestly, it was pretty good. It's not the largest selection, but the pancakes and French toast were very good (and there's a nice "toppings" bar, as you might expect from Hershey). The highlight for me though was the eggs to order, as I was able to order a fully customized omelet which was excellent AND included with the buffet!... My only knock though was the service. Both mornings we had very friendly servers, but they were also VERY slow. The salmon smelt so bad i had to have him take it away. It was grey in color and my waiter was nice and all but did nothing about it. He just told me that's how it's supposed to look. We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Meatballs which came with Cayenne Sauce, Bleu Cheese, Creamy Parmesan Polenta and the Traditional Meatballs made of veal and pork, braised and served on the same polenta. The meatballs were very good too, but the polenta wasn't, it seemed out of place and also was cold. We also ordered the pepperoni flatbread as an entree, that was the biggest miss. Mediocre cheese, tasteless crust and sauce. Not bad (hey it's pizza...is there any such thing as bad pizza?), but nothing I would order again or seek out. Any time I'm in Hershey from out of town I have to come here for their happy hour 4-6 ANY day of the week, even Saturdays. They have $7 martinis and half off apps. I love the martinis because they are classic Hershey flavors and they put a mini hershey kiss or Reese's at the bottom of the glass. Not to mention these martinis will get you buzzed very quickly. The food delicious. The portions were perfect. Not to big or to small. The menu has a variety of small plate and entree options along with dessert. It's upscale food with great flavor. If I wasn't trying to cut back carbs, I could LIVE on their bread! I had the porcini tortonelli, hubs had the crab flatbread, and my friends had short ribs and seafood pappardelle. Located in the Hershey Lodge, it would be a convenient spot for guests staying there but I was not a hotel guest and just stopped in for happy hour. The man at valet was so friendly and instructed us where to park. Happy hour starts at the bar at 4pm but since it was full we had to wait until 4:30 to be seated at a regular table which I thought was a bit strange that the bar opened before the restaurant. We waited comfortably in the lobby until we could be seated. Service was good but I felt the food fell a bit short. We had the meatballs, buffalo chicken flat bread, prosciutto & fig flat bread, and baked goat cheese. All were just alright, nothing spectacular. I did really enjoy the blueberry lavender mojito on the happy hour menu! I tried the Reese's martini because why not when you're in Hershey! I can't imagine paying double that price for the quantity and quality served... Also- some shenanigans happened with the host/seater and wait times. The restaurant was pretty empty during happy hour and we wanted to get a table, ready at 4:30. We check the bar and come back within a few min and the table is now ready at 4:45!? Mind you, restaurant still empty and nobody had made additional reservations. Their text checkin system doesn't tell you when a table is ready, so you might as well just hang out around the host because it's essentially their mood that determines when you'll be seated. We checked well before our 4:45 time and were seated, but was never notified at all that it was ready. Highly unprofessional host service. Though our server was great and friendly. Hidden gem around the Hershey area. We decided to dine here while staying at the lodge. We've been to Hershey in the past and have a few of our fave restaurants in the area but since it was bitter cold out we decided to try this place out. We had breakfast which really surprised us as it was much better than expectations. The cocoa pancakes with berry compote was delicious. The corned beef has was well made with beets and sweet potato has so it didn't feel heavy at all. We returned for dinner since we had a great breakfast experience. Once again enjoyed our meal. The flatbread was not the best we've had but it's still very delicious as was the bolognese. Sundried tomato and chicken was a bit of a surprise as it's very well balanced with grits and other vegetables. The dessert was delicious. The price for a resort restaurant was fair compared to other local restaurants. Our servers both visits were very nice and helpful. Decor/service: this place definitely needs to pick what it wants to be. The inside reminds me half of a diner and half of upscale restaurant. Food: the drinks were good and that's about where it stopped. The flatbread reminded me of a kids pizza that you throw in the oven frozen for 10 minutes. On a recent trip to Hershey Lodge we dined at fire and grain. My son started drinking his cup of chocolate milk and spit out a sharp piece of plastic. When I opened the cup there were multiple pieces of plastic floating in the cup. I alerted the waiter who brought us another cup of water which also had brown sharp pieces of plastic floating in it. When I called to speak to a manager the next day they said they have been getting multiple complaints about the cups (push through top cups for children) leaving pieces of plastic in the cup yet they are still using them they said they would call me back with a resolution but still have not. Spoke to a Cecelia and Mark (both said they would call back and never did) and am concerned that they knew this was happening yet still are using the cups putting children at risk! read more

We went to the Fire & Grain restaurant tonight at the Hershey Lodge. We stood at the hostess stand for 5 mins until someone came by and finally sat us. Once seated, the service was excellent. We ordered the Burrata app. The cheese was delicious, but the three slices of crusty bread were too hard. I would have preferred a softer bread to spread the Burrata on. We shared the fennel beet salad and gnocchi carbonara. The salad was delicious. The beets had a nice flavor. The gnocchi was a little dry, but the pancetta and peas were delicious. The restaurant was somewhat expensive for the gnocchi and ravioli dishes. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant at the Lodge. read more

We were actually fairly disappointed in Fire and Grain. We had high hopes for a fancy date night with good food, but did not experience this. We were expecting a lot considering it's a part of the Hershey lodge and how expensive it is. First, parking was a bit difficult. Once inside, I can say that it was beautiful and seemed good for a date night. Drinks were expensive, so we made sure to go during half price happy hour. We shared the crab fondue for an appetizer, which 100% was NOT worth it. I didn't taste a single bite of crab in the entire dish. I would not have paid $16 for a small bowl of melted cheese and toast. It didn't have the texture nor flavor of crab to merit the title of the dish. My fiance got the duck and mushroom special, which was $26. Again, one of the main ingredients was not detected (the mushrooms). We shoveled through the bowl and only found evidence of one slice of mushroom in the whole dish. The duck had good texture and flavor, but the pasta was thick and needed more flavor and seasoning. This made the dish overall bland. Again, not worth the price charged. I got the fall squash panzanella salad, which was the only thing I was really happy with. It has a great mix of textures and flavors and was a nice seasonal dish for $15 with enough toppings. I opted to get the salmon on it for an extra $9, which was a mistake. The flavor of the salmon didn't quite taste right with the flavors of the salad, so I ate it separately, but that was a decision on my part to add the salmon. The salmon itself had zero seasoning (not even a speck of salt), so even if it had gone well with the flavors of the salad, it would not have been worth an extra $9. Therefore, I give this restaurant a 2 or 3 star rating. I had high expectations that they did not meet, and I think you would be better off spending your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

When I order takeout, I pay more than McDonald's for a meal and plastic ware is not placed in my bag; I should not be required to ask, I usually obtain the plastic ware at a fast food restaurant, but I expect to ask for it, but not at a medium to high-end restaurant. However, I ordered Burrata, Roasted Bronzini, and Panna Cotta. The Burrata was a combination of watermelon and tomatoes and was good. But the Bronzini was amazing! I get that they need to have policies to avoid over-serving their patrons, but when I tell you the bartender was loud and announcing this to the entire bar, I was soooo embarrassed. I am here on a work conference trip and the way she announced it so loudly that I need to eat before she can give me another drink because I've had "soooo many" was literally mortifying. 1.
