I'm a professional musician and so I have lots of sensitive gear to protect (and to keep an eye on when people are practicing when I'm not home). So I needed something a little more advanced than what the standard alarm companies offer. So Black Hat installed our system about 3 months ago. Our house has 4 doors and tons of windows with a detached guesthouse garage where we keep lots of toys. We went with a their Black Hat Package + a few optional features, more camera's, more window sensors, and they were just starting their doorbell camera campaign so we got that, too... The door locks with user specific codes lets me monitor who is going in and out of my studio. After shopping around a little, we found out that these guys were about $20 less per month then their closest competition. Cox had a similar monthly but they wanted about $800 down and they don't offer a real doorbell camera (they just put an exterior camera by the door), and if I ever changed cable companies I would lose my deal! ADT wouldn't quote on the phone, but insisted to send one of their salesmen out... annoying. Anyway, they sent out their installer, JD, in less than a day. THE GUY PUT BOOTIES ON HIS SHOES before he walked into our house. I told him to knock it off because we're not that snotty. He insisted though. His truck was impeccable. He helped us load the app and program everything and made sure we could work it. Thanks JD! You always wonder who these guys are... turns out the JD used to own restoration company before being hired by Black Hat. So he knew how to handle any wall, any wiring issue, etc... It was reassuring. He gave me his number to text him if he had questions. I have texted and sometimes called the office with questions and never wait on hold. If their people are tied up, they have always gotten back to me with less than 5 minutes. I know I sound like their PR guy, but I couldn't resist. I made a Yelp account just so I could write this. I feel safer and like I got a more than fair deal with insane service. read more

I've had BHS for over a year and do believe I was the first customer to get the IQ panel. I heard about this panel from another company, but was unpleased with their service so I called BHS to see if they offered the panel after continuously hearing about them on the radio. Well, they didn't have the panel at that time and didn't know much about it so we ended the call without harsh feeling. To my surprise, I get a call from someone (cant remember their name) stating that they would go and get the panel in order to get my business so I agreed. Unfortunately, I didn't write a review at the time because I understood that they had never worked with the panel before so their knowledge was limited. It didn't work as it should but I was ok with it because it served a purpose. Now its a year later and I sold the house. I have 3 days before close of escrow and just remembered to call BHS. They were able to get Landon out the very next day to remove the system and install it at my new home. Landon was professional and on time (just what I like). My man knew the system and was able to answer all my questions. He wasn't able to hook up the wifi camera because the internet isn't on, but said I could call him when its on. Its on Landon, so I will be calling you. He also told me that there was an IQ 2 so I was able to upgrade my panel which ended up costing me less and it looks much cleaner than the old IQ panel. Needless to say, I'm a happy customer and would definitely recommend them. BTW, you may as well get Green Mango too. They should offer a discount when getting some of their other services. read more

If we have high marks it's because we care deeply enough to always make things beneficial to everyone involved. Every day I here stories of our Service Pros helping solve customer questions even when they don't deal with security. We're very picky hirers (obviously). Please take a look at the other reviews, 99% of them mention their Service Pro by name and several name our staff and partners. Our office staff feels a connection to our customers and takes any concern they have to heart. So of course I'm giving us 5 stars, not because we're perfect, but because we learn and adapt quickly and we serve with kindness. We're a security company... we absolutely must care about our clients. From a technical standpoint, we are installing top of the line tech. There are definitely cheaper ways to go, but we want you to actually have the security that we're promising. We frequently add window and door sensors at no charge or big discounts because it makes no sense to leave certain entrances unprotected. As tech improves, we adopt it quickly. I generally don't write reviews but in this case I have absolutely no choice. Everyone needs to know how amazing Black Hat security is. I initially heard about them on the John Jay and Rich show and thought that they were only raving because they were paid endorsers but I must say this is the best experience I have ever had. Initially I had contacted ADT and was so offput by the customer service experience that I was hesitant to reach out to any other company. From initial contact to installation it was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. Courtney scheduled my appointment and answered all of my 100 questions over many days. They installed 48 hours after initial contact and made it at a time that worked for my schedule. I work all day and don't get home until early evening and they were at my home getting me all set up and even waited for me to arrive when I was running a bit late. She is amazing and remembered me every time I called. She made me feel like I was the only customer Landon came out and installed my system. He was amazing and made sure I understood every aspect of my system. I love having everything fully automated from my phone. My thermostat, my garage, my doorbell camera and my system can all be controlled through my phone. they even have a military discount! I could go on for hours but long story short Black Hat Security is and will always be my security company of choice. read more

After being harassed by ADT for the first two weeks of owning my new home I decided that I did want to look into get a security system... but not through ADT. I researched Black Hat after hearing about them on JohnJay and Rich and decided to reach out. It was a Saturday afternoon (their office was closed), but Mark, one of the owners, still promptly responded to my request for more details and spent about an hour on the phone with me answering all of my questions, all without being pushy or trying to sell me at all. Oh and, might I mention, he was out of town with his family at the time and still was accommodating. After deciding to move forward he then put me in touch with Courtney who reached out to schedule my installation Monday morning. Landon came today to do the install, and not only did he call ahead of time to give me a 45 minute warning, he was also quiet and respectful of the fact that I was working from home and sitting in on meetings the majority of the time. He installed things both quickly and quietly, then took the time to explain how things worked and walked me through the basics of the system. I'm genuinely impressed by the customer service this company has, from start to finish the entire process has been so painless, and on top of feeling safe my new home is equipped with great features such as the smart thermostat. I'm a general contractor so I usually like to torture anyone that comes and works on my house. So when my wife purchased security from Black Hat, I was licking my chops.... actually came home from work a little early just to be there and make sure he didn't screw up my electrical or ding my drywall. Well, the founder of the company happened to be on a ride-along with the tech that day. They pulled up in a pretty insane truck, I figured it was the owners, but it turns out that all of their techs drive those. Then before either of the stepped foot in the house they put on booties *I figured it was the tech just trying to impress his boss, but based on 3 other reviews, these guys put on the foot covers standard. (I've since had my finish guys start doing it). They checked things out around the house and then installed the system. They walked my wife and me through the Black Hat App download and then set a few custom scenes with us. Then they showed us how to check all of the camera's, arm and disarm, etc... Our neighbor came over just after we set up and I got a text that second with their face from the doorbell camera! I don't mean to sound like a commercial... but most of these guys' reviews are this way. Black Hat is brand new apparently. It's about time for a strait up security company that doesn't feel shady. I have a lot of great compliments for Black Hat Security. First, my installer Jorge. He called to let me know he was on his way and what time he'd be there. He arrived on time as promised. I asked him how long the installation would be, and was provided an estimate. His good work was accomplished in less time than predicted. During the installation, he answered all of my questions and even gave me a recommendation or two. I added 2 additional items that were not planned prior to the installation. I added a smoke detector connection to the security system, as well as 2 fobs for our key chains. He didn't have the fobs, and said he would run back to the main office and get them. They were added to my system before he arrived. He answered questions and helped make sure everything was working before he left. Great customer service! Calling the main office was also very easy. Courtney and Destiny answered questions and insured I had everything I need prior to and during my installation (I called with an added question about additional equipment). They also called to see if I would be interested in moving up my service installation date (which I was unable to do). All in all, the service so far from Black Hat has been fantastic. Outstanding company and staff! I was a referral customer from a friend that has an awesome experience with Black Hat Security. I spoke with Courtney and Destiny to get pricing and information about each option. The process was really convenient with text reminders, emails and DocuSign. We went with the "secure" package..for now. I am extremely diligent when it comes to selecting a service. I received quotes from several companies and TV provider's packages. Nobody could match or beat Black Hat's pricing and/or technology; plus they are LOCAL. JD was our technician and was great. He came in with a handshake and shoe booty's (not needed but respectful to home owners and professional). He has 2 kids and had some suggestions for placement for our indoor camera since we also have 2 kids. He gave a 45 minute text notice before our appointment. Black Hat gave us a 9-10am time-frame and not the 9am - 3pm cliché which was great so that I could get back to work and limit PTO. I am really looking forward to the protection and peace of mind Black Hat has and will provide. The monthly invoice is definitely affordable for what we are receiving and the service is transferable if we ever move. I would recommend asking neighbors to get the referral discount or any promos from radio stations! read more

I wanted to share my experience with the local security company, Blackhat Security. I have not experienced a more professional installation as a homeowner, which is over 20 years. They were timely in arrival, introduced themselves, clean cut and very professional. They did an amazing job installing the product and removing the old product. They were accommodating to my schedule and understanding to the fact that I was very busy doing other things while they were installing. They were very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information. I left my previous monitoring company due to lack of personal service. Blackhat will come out and fix any issues with the system, versus my old company mailing me a part I had to install. I am very happy with the service and equipment, it looks very professional. If you are looking for a new company, this is the one. You also can get a ring doorbell camera as a current promotion. All of the equipment is free with a contract, which if you have an older system like I did this is state of the art now, which your current monitoring company will not update your equipment for free, at least mine did not. We just had our Black Hat security installed today, and we couldn't be happier with the process and the products! My husband compared this company to Cox and ADT and they were able to give us more product for less, and we didn't have to go under a contract. Cameron and Courtney were fantastic to aid in selecting the best options for us and answer all of our questions. We had two technicians out for install today and they called prior to arrival, were on time, wore booties in the house, and were extremely respectful and knowledgeable! They took their time to do an overview of our house and our needs/wants. Then seemlessly and efficiently installed our equipment. Even when I was a bit picky on where I wanted a sensor, JD was responsive and worked with me to select a both practical and attractive space for the sensor. I especially liked that they fished the electrical elements for the keypad through the wall. After installation, they provided us an in-depth overview of how the system works including online, the app, and the keypad and answered all our questions. I have been wanting a security system for years, but we could never find anything that fit our needs, until now. We currently use Green Mango (pest control), Black Hat's sister company. As they finished up their service, they left a flyer with Black Hat information. Curious to see what they had to offer, I called the office to get more information on pricing, contract terms, and overall coverage. Cameron was very helpful (and patient) answering all of my questions. I told him what I needed, and he gave me options that were flexible and affordable. His scheduler contacted me the following morning, and I was on the schedule for installation the same day!!! Two installers came out, (I'm sorry I can't remember their names), and they were able to use some of the existing sensors. They replaced them with new batteries, and showed me how to use my new system. They were very professional, and quick! It was the easiest, fastest experience. Now, I can spy on my kids with my front door camera!! The hardest part was getting my husband to agree that we needed a security system. He agrees that it was an investment well worth it!! read more

Quality service and products have always been important to me but I like to save wherever I can, too. When I found Black Hat, I was able to get the best of both worlds. Courtney was easy to work with and helped me create a security plan with my new house which was at the time under construction. Based on the model unit, we worked out a quote where I would be able to secure my new home the same day I closed. Unfortunately, I fell on some slight financial hardship shortly after signing the contract so I had to cut a few expenses including security. After a few months, I contacted Courtney again and let her know I would need to make a new contract as I was sure we would need to start from scratch. I was pleasantly surprised that my information had been saved and I was able to make changes to my current plan quickly and easily. An appointment was scheduled two days later. I feel good about this decision and if you're on the fence, do your research and compare the other companies to Black Hat. I was extremely satisfied with the start up process and professionalism displayed by everyone I have dealt with at Black Hat Security. Courtney was easy going and very helpful getting everything set up and scheduling my install. Landon arrived promptly for the install and explained the entire system, any questions I had, he was able to answer. I had been with a different security company for years and dealt with rude people all along the way. It was very difficult to get answers or help with the system and seemed like I was a bother. We had Black Hat come to our house today and install an alarm system. They sent Landon. We have many windows and doors and I knew he would have to be in the house all morning. Usually this bothers me. I don't like workers in the house and wasn't looking forward to the install. We just set up our new system with Black Hat a few weeks ago and are VERY pleased. The whole process from initial inquiry to installation was seamless and top notch. I requested a quote online and was almost immediately contacted by Courtney who explained everything and went through our options. We were able to set up installation pretty quickly after that. Jorge and Devin showed up on time to install and were extremely nice, and helpful. They explained everything, showed me how things worked and were able to set everything up just how we wanted it. We just signed up with Black Hat and so far our experience has been amazing. We were referred by a friend and had a ton of questions. Cameron spent a long time on the phone explaining everything. Landon showed up to install our system and was patient with our new questions and was very accommodating when we made a few changes. He was prepared and professional. Great set up process - incredibly thorough. Right from the beginning - they were very helpful explaining everything that was included in the package and what we could add on. We had so many questions - and not once did I ever feel like we were being sold a sales pitch. They were friendly and helpful the entire time! We had been considering getting a new system for a while now, and you just couldn't beat their price! Free install, Free panel, Free "Skybell" door bell, all the sensors for $36 a month with a 3 year contract. Love the panel - it's cute and matches the light switches, you can use custom pictures that scroll through when the panel goes to sleep. The install process was quick and easy.
