My system seems to have a lot of issues with the fan outside keeps going out. Today had tech Lucas Babcock come first thing this morning. Which made me very happy since I was given a time frame of 8 to noon. He was very nice and professional. He asked if he could come in and take a look at the thermostat. Showed him where it was in the home, he then asked where the vent was so he could check that as well. I informed him it was just changed, and he still looked at it to make sure that was not part of the issue. He also checked the fuse box to make sure it was not tripped. He listened to my concerns and went over things with me and how he was going to proceed, with trying to figure out what the issue was. Lucas then let me know that my copastor had popped and that is why the fan was not moving. He also had the piece with him to fix mine today. Which was amazing since the last time a tech came out, we had to wait a week for a piece to be ordered and schedule someone to come back out once the piece came in. Lucas also let me know that I could save money by doing the membership plan for Maintenace. When I let him know about the last service call appointment that we had scheduled in October. We had waited all day and no show or call to let us know the tech was out sick. Only found out when I called in to see if the tech was on his way. Lucas apologized for that even know it had nothing to do with him. I appreciate the great professional and courteous service that Lucas provided and now we are happy and cool thanks to him fixing our A/C it is people like Lucas that can make or break a company because I for sure was still a little upset with my last experience and no tech showing. read more

I was skeptical when I read some of the poor ratings since this was my first encounter dealing with Black Hills. When I initially called they were courteous, very professional and some of my concerns were washed away. They kept in constant contact every step of the way via phone and email, I liked that! The first member of their staff I encountered was James Florence the plumber. That was my initial reason for contacting them but I also wanted to find out about heat pumps and Generac generators, so they set up an appointment with a salesman for later that day to come to our house and discuss those issues with us. Back to James, he called to let me know when he would be at our place, he arrived timely, was very professional, wore his covid mask, and put on booties when he entered the house. I explained what the situation was, he gave me the cost to do the work which I didn't quibble with. I asked if they provide a military or seniors discount and he made an adjustment. He started by augering the drain and when he couldn't roto route past a certain point he went under the house, which is a very small crawl space. Did something and broke through the clog from underneath. He poured some stuff in the drain and told me not to use it for 24 hours but he tested the drain pipes to make sure there were no leaks or drips before he left. Professional all the way, one of the best plumbers I've ever used and the overall service is first class. I got more than I paid for, am I a happy camper you betcha but better than that it's my wife's bathroom sink. Happy wife, happy life! read more

Tim, our technician came in for a service call. My 15 year old furnace had died the day before. Tim was extremely knowledgeable, and very professional. He explained in layman's terms what was wrong with my furnace, what it was going to cost, and my options. He did not try to upsell me at all, even though my furnace was on it's last legs. After explaining everything, and showing, my wife, and I, several types of replacements, we decided to invest in a high efficiency furnace from Black Hills. The price was lower than we expected, and he gave us money off for paying cash, as well as being a Vet. He also did not charge us for the service call. I was not home when it was installed, but my wife said everything went quickly, and they were in, and out in less than 1 day. I hate to say, but our intention was to get 3-4 other estimates, however, with Tim's high degree of knowledge, and courteous attitude we made a decision we haven't regretted yet. The furnace is more powerful, way more efficient, (95.0), but seems to run a little louder. I expect to save 20-30% in my natural gas bill in the coming months. We highly recommend Black Hills Heating and Air Conditioning. Oh, by the way, Tim wore booties every time he even came close to entering our home. I had my new furnace installed about a month ago. First, a little bit of history. I had been the proud owner of a early model production run of a York modulating furnace that had caused me a lot of grief (not sold or installed by Black Hills)! Naturally, I was super cautious when David(sales rep) proposed a York as a replacement furnace for my problem child. At the time, I capitulated because of the warranties offered in writing & bold letters!! Unfortunately, my furnace malfunctioned during the first few days reinforcing my concerns. Mechanical/electrical devices can & will malfunction, I understand that but I was more interested in grading your response after the sale. To my surprise & delight, the failing part was identified & fixed within hours of my reporting the problem. Good for you: Mental check in the plus column. Next test was to see if your company made good on its no frustration guarantee! Again, I was reserved in my expectations but the check arrived Saturday & I have to compliment you guys on being "stand-up" & honoring your word & unconditionally backing your product! I would have no problem recommending your company as the go-to guys for heating/cooling. I think the best time to see a company's values and standards is when things don't go well-- especially when they're at fault. I was in this situation with Black Hills last month. I was absolutely irate when I found out some miscommunication on their end resulted in us having heat issues for an extended period of time. However, once the mistake was realized, Black Hills did everything in their power to make things right as expediently as possible, and I mean EVERYTHING. They took financial responsibility (which I thought was huge in a time when most companies give you the runaround just to avoid owning up to making a mistake), provided us with space heaters, and the technician took his time and made sure the job was done properly when the parts were in. Side note: All the technicians we've dealt with in the past were great, but Jacob M. is so courteous, patient, and extremely knowledgeable and will be our go-to guy for all things HVAC related! We were extremely pleased and impressed with our recent service call with Black Hills Heating & AC! We have had numerous problems with our Air Conditioning system since we bought our home new 12 years ago. Previous service calls have been very expensive and we were not always pleased with everything. I took a chance and called a different company this time, Black Hills H&AC. Heidi (Office person coordinating our service) was very polite and professional and fast! Justin (Service Tech) arrived on schedule, extremely polite and took his shoes off before entering our home (we didn't ask him to do this.) Justin resolved our issue with the outside Heat Pump (replaced bad capacitor) very quickly and the AC was working again in about 30 minutes. The service call charge, parts and labor were the best surprise ever (lowest bill we have ever had to pay to get our AC system repaired! We plan to call Black Hills H & AC for all our future AC and heating problems and I recommend them very highly. read more

I had a 20+ year old gas furnace that was making noise and a newer A/C unit and I wanted to go to a heat pump as my main source of heat for energy efficiency but I still wanted a gas furnace as a backup. I called Black Hills and they send an estimator out to look at my system and give me a quote. It seemed like a lot of money but everything is a lot of money now and I liked their proposal and how soon they could start work. Once I signed the work order they got started within a week as they had everything in stock. The two guys they sent out to do the work went over and above to make sure everything was right and I was happy with the system. They even worked a few extra hours to get it done in one day. They even changed one of the air supply ducts and now my upstairs is much closer to the downstairs temperature. We had them out for a yearly service of our furnace that was installed last year about this time. We had some many headaches with the company that did the install, we decided to try these guys as they were someone we looked at before. They were AWESOME! From the time I made a call to set the appt until Dan left last night - just AWESOME! The ladies on the phone were professional, courteous and just nice. I really like that they send a picture of the tech before he got to the door so I felt that much safer letting him in the door. And Dan, our tech, was great. He tried to fix the short comings of the installation company and tweaked a few minor things that were done improperly. He explained everything he did and gave us tips for the future. OH. MY. GOSH. I don't think we've ever been dealt with by a customer with such professionalism, or a service tech with such proficiency and politeness. On top of that, the tech turned out to be an old acquaintance who knew me from thirteen years ago! SO cool! Nick did a fantastic job with our duct cleaning, and I do mean fantastic. He was exceedingly polite through and through, and it was a great experience. Black Hills themselves were very communicative, with great pricing, quick availability, and ease of communication throughout the process. They have a very polished intake, scheduling, and billing process which just blew me away. We're very grateful - we had a different vendor on the books and SO glad we cancelled and went with Black Hills. I called Black Hills because our furnace wasn't running at all, a Black Hills service history was pasted on the side of the furnace, and the firm had done a check-up eight months earlier before we owned the house. Also, the ratings for Black Hills everywhere were very high. Karissa in customer service was delightful and a couple of days later Tim arrived to do the autopsy. In common English, Tim explained what had gone wrong and what part had to be replaced and he checked to see whether the $620 part would be in warranty, and it was. Yay! He offered Black Hills service plans without pressuring and moved right along to finish the transaction when I declined. The furnace has worked perfectly since Tim did his work. I only wish that, a day later when he called to see if he'd left his DeWalt drill near our furnace, I'd have been able to say, "Yes." But it wasn't there. read more

I was caught in the middle of a problem between the seller of the home I purchased and Black Hills. The problem was a bad used-up Ac needing replacement and it shut down two weeks after I moved in. I contacted Black Hills and they stepped up and did the right thing for me. I so appreciate the fact that at no cost to me, they replaced the unit and the owner, Jim was incredible kind and polite. He went out of his way to settle this problem for me. The office staff helped to make this happen. All I can say is if you want an honest company to deal with, this one is it. I am incredibly impressed. They could have turned their back on this problem as the seller would not step up and pay for a new unit as she did for the furnace. WOW, I am so impressed with this company! They are knowledgable professionals who are on time, respectful and know what they talk about! It was so easy to schedule a technician to come out, they even came out that day. I was so happy considering that when I talked to another local company they mentioned a three day lag time, I was so happy that Black Hills was able to come out the same day and help me with my AC unit! I was nervous about possible long term damage, but Black Hills reassured me over the phone, and even more so with the experienced technician they sent my way. These guys are awesome! Was a little hesitant due to the high diagnosis cost, but soon after they came out I realized it was well worth it. Turned out the leaking that occurred from AC unit could have eventually turned into mold. I've had water damage in my home before and I would not want to go through that again. Luckily, my AC unit was properly diagnosed and replaced to avoid any extreme emergencies. I was told if I had waited any longer it might have really been a different situation. I appreciate the friendly and reliable service offered to me from the Black Hills scheduler and technicians. I didn't even get a charge for coming out on a saturday night. We are new to the area and were clueless on finding a Good company for our HVAC needs. In July we purchased a new a/c unit through Capitol Heating and Cooling. We had an awful experience. So here comes Dec. and our heat goes out. So we call G&G Heating, what a joke. They told us 6-7 days before they could look at it. I think G&G should just close up. The next call was to Black Hills. Overall very happy with Black Hills and our new furnace and air conditioning unit. David Griffis is a good sales consultant. He even suited up and went exploring under the house inspecting the duct work. Riley was good at removing the old furnace and installing the new system although it took him just over 8 hours (because he was alone). Ross the duct work cleaning pro did an awesome job. I got quotes from Capital and Sunset Air and though one was less expensive, I am happy I went with Black Hills because of the customer service and personal touch.
