This place was somewhere that I wanted to go for quite some time and I am so glad that I finally did! Right from the moment I entered, everything about this place was great! The hostess told us a few different options of where to sit from and we took a booth. The server was very on top of everything and came over quickly, got our drinks and told us of different drink orders that were happening at that time. I decided to get a zombie and it was amazing! The flavors were mixed perfectly and it was a nice pour! I decided to get the prime rib sandwich with fries as a side and omg it was heavenly. The meat was cooked perfectly and the ciabatta bread it was served on was fresh and soft! The cheese was melted perfectly and the meat was seasoned great as well! The fries were so hot and seasoned with something that was out of this world! The place has some nice decorations but overall is just a sports bar at the end of the day. We walked into this small local bar, and even though it was past lunch time, there were some people having drinks, lunch, and the place itself was so cool with its blue flooring, and the giant octopus painting on the wall- it just gave it a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I also liked the seating at the booth - they were not square booths, but rather round "embracing" booths, so we were warmly greeted and we got a Lunch Menu! There were some cool options to be had a t a much reduced price- for lunch! My partner wanted a burger. Well he got the juiciest burger, and the fries were to die for! I picked from the lunch menu the pork with mojo and rice and beans and let me say my dish was very savory and good! Not the Cuban style Mojo I was expecting, more of a Caribbean-Jamaica flavor to it, but very delicious nonetheless. We ate with much gusto to our hearts desire... and eventually had to get a doggy bag because even my lunch portion was bough to take some back home for later. Great place, service and ambiance. Made a reservation and was instantly greeted by the friendly hostess and offered a choice of table preference we had wanted. The restaurant was pretty cool with the pirate themed decor and it was fun to see one of the World Cup games going on on the bar tvs. They happened to have happy hour going on and was provided a quick rundown on what drinks were eligible for happy hour as well as food. I ended up ordering a Hibiscus drink which was extremely refreshing! We ordered nachos and tostones for appetizers which were generous portions and absolutely delicious. Ordered the American heat burger which had cheese, bacon and a BBQ mango habanero sauce. Spicy without being overpowering and packed with flavor. I really enjoyed it being it's different from what I normally get burger wise. The fries it came with were seasoned perfectly. I called ahead of time to check if the restaurant allowed outside food as we had brought in a small cake for the 5 of us. It was allowed but what really was memorable for us was that our waiter came back with a small dessert and a candle for my dad to have in celebration of his birthday. Hubs and I came here for a date day. We were immediately impressed by the theming! For drinks, he ordered the Frankenstein and I ordered Davie Jones Locker. They're such fun drinks, even mine had a little show off moment. Both were amazing drinks! For brunch, he ordered the Frita Burger but it came with no fritas. I got the Churrasco and Eggs. Some parts of the steak were a little salty but otherwise I still enjoyed them! I'll unfortunately admit that the wait was a little long when it wasn't busy, but that's fine. What rubbed me the wrong way was when the bartender blamed the chef for the delay and mistakes instead of doing a blameless apology. That's not teamwork. So for that, I've omitted a star. I had a great experience at Black Jack's Rum Bar and Grille. My server, Larry, was an absolute character. Dry sense of humor and a little salty, he was an absolute hoot. I love the decor of this Grille. If you're a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean or Black Sails, this is a fun little watering hole. The walls are decorated with Pirate memorabilia and the bar is draped in nets to resemble boarding nets which were rigged along the sides of ships. I thought this was a pretty cool detail. Another great detail was the floors. Colored in teal and shades of blue, it was made to look like water. It really ties the whole themed together. I ordered the grilled fish sandwich and Black Jack's Old Fashion. The fish was snapper, and it was a serious portion--a thick slab cooked perfectly. Flaky, fresh, and not buried under heavy batter. Right off the bat we noticed the giant screen playing football and several other TVs around the bar. I'm sure this is a great place to watch a game. We were seated right away and our waitress was at the table within minutes. They have happy hour everyday from 4-7 and then again late at night. Their signature cocktails were $10 so we ordered a blackberry lemonade and hibiscus margarita. We also got a shipwreck which is 2 for 1 and $16. All the drinks were good. The margarita was strong and the shipwreck was tropical and served in a cute cup. For food we ordered the Cuban spring rolls on the HH menu ($6), prime rib sandwich ($20), black bean and beet burger ($15) and mojo pork ($21). Everything was very tasty. The mojo pork was the standout. It wasn't shredded like we expected but was marinated really well. Prime rib sandwich had great flavor and lots of meat. The burger was really good but would be even better with some sort of aioli. Prices are fair and the interior is nice with lots of tables and a good sized bar with a ton of rums. I've visited this place as both a customer and inquiring about employment. As a customer, the space is clean, well-designed, and has a nice atmosphere, especially for late hours. However, the food was underwhelming in my experience. Some items lacked seasoning, and portions felt inconsistent--for example, an empanada I ordered had very little filling. Overall, the food quality felt mediocre compared to the price and expectations. I also called to ask about a bartending position and didn't receive much information. I order the hibiscus margarita which was very good but the alcohol was heavily poured so you tasted a lot of it in your first sips. My entree was the Black Bean burgers with avocado and pico de gallo. This was one of the tastiest black bean burgers I have ordered in awhile. My only recommendation for this burger will be a spicy aioli on the side to give it that punch of flavor. The fries were perfectly salted but others might think they are overly salted. The table ordered the Cuban Spring Rolls that came with a season mustard sauce that paired perfect. The table was very impress with how close to a Cuban sandwich these spring rolls tasted. I stopped in to try their weekday lunch specials & thoroughly enjoyed the food. I sat at the bar and my bartender Rae was very knowledgeable and engaging & we enjoyed a nice chat. Given their fairly-priced $10 lunch specials, I was surprised at the sparse crowd, but they're still new to the area. The Fish & Chips lunch portion was generous and the food was fresh with great flavor. I enjoyed the coleslaw and the house-made tartar sauce paired well with the fish. The chips (steak fries) portion was large & well-seasoned. I'll definitely come back soon and try another one of the lunch specials! The restaurant is beautiful. The designers went out of their way to stick with the pirate theme. The kids menu was folded into a pirate hat. At the end of the meal, the bill was given to us in a mini treasure box. Some of the outdoor seating is made to look like rum barrels. They were also playing pirates of the Caribbean in the background during our meal. The service was OK. The waitress was friendly but when asked questions about the dishes on the menu, she couldn't answer them. She got one of the orders incorrect, but didn't check on us until about 20 minutes after the meals were delivered by someone else, so we didn't get it corrected. We went during a slow time (between lunch and dinner), so there were only about 5 tables of guests while we were there. The best thing we had was the conch fritters. The ribs were dry. The paella was way too salty. We asked if the fried fish came plain without a sauce and we were told yes by the waitress. However, the snapper came with some onions on top and the wrong side was included. There is a parking lot off to the side of the restaurant. You have to scan a QR code to register your vehicle to get 2 free hours. There is also a parking garage conveniently located behind the restaurant. read more

Nice addition to Davie area! Black Jack's is located on the ground floor of an apartment building on Davie Rd. Parking is available across the street. There is a parking app, but the first 2 hours are free. On a Saturday night it was busy but we were able to get a table right away. The atmosphere is super casual. It is also very loud. There are tv's at the bar and a large screen where the NCAA semi-finals was playing. The food is definitely a step above the bar food I have had. Wings were phenomenal. We ordered them with passion fruit bbq but there were other flavors available. Next time we will try the pineapple glaze. The wings not only tasted good but they were huge and reasonably priced. I ordered the Cameronas a la Crillola. The shrimps were large and prepared perfectly (although it was a little tough to get them off the skewer). I was not a fan of the sauce, which tasted a little bitter. Husband ordered the BBQ 1/2 chicken and said it was tender, juicy, and tasty. Overall, very good food and a great value. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic three month old restaurant positioned on the bottom floor of an upscale apartment complex which provides free garage parking for two hours. Happy Hour for food and drink offered everyday from 4pm - 7pm. From the moment I walked in, the entire blue-green lacquered cement flooring provided an oceanic ambiance and the wooden touches provided a warm inviting cohesive atmosphere. Basically, it felt like a modern twist to an old shipwreck theme. The rum bar was the centerpiece that immediately caught my eye. The owner was actually the mixologist who did not exert her verbal skills in my direction, but in her defense, she was diligently preparing some creative rum based drinks. The server, Emma, was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu, which offered a wide selection of fine rums, each with its own unique flavor profile. The rum drinks were enticing, but I was here today for the grub and not the rum - although any rum connoisseur would salivate after viewing their expertly crafted rum cocktail menu - it's clear they take their spirits seriously. Emma recommended the Black Jack's Fish & Chips as one their specialty dishes and sold me on this specialty item. The wild-caught snapper filet with dripped lemon cilantro aioli and the crazy tasty sweet cole slaw was absolutely outstanding. The side car of creamy tarter sauce was a much better choice than the all too common red cocktail sauce. The monster sized two filet snapper (see pic) had a light crispy crust with plump meat and full of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered a higher quality fish instead of Cod or another white fish, which is commonly found at many other fishery based eateries. Emma offered a thoughtful touch to the experience by providing a uniquely designed carafe of water for everyone at the table. The strong focus on quality ingredients and their attention to detail made the meal unforgettable. The gender neutral bathroom was clean, continuing the blue-green flooring and wrap around wall paper depicting a map of the caribbean complemented by wood panels. If you're a fan of rum or simply enjoy exquisite seafood, this place is a must visit. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately so much went wrong. I wanna preface this by saying the bar manager (I think his name was Jesse) was extremely helpful and accommodating. we came late on a Friday around midnight, and there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. initially our server was an older lady then she seemed to swap us over to another young girl who told us she was very new (just started 2 weeks ago). as someone who worked in the industry for over 8 years I'm very lenient when it comes to service especially if it's busy but there service we got was just unacceptable. from the start we asked if they had any Stella to which the server told us they only had what was listed on the bottom of the menu. someone in my party asked about a couple beers listed and our server just kept repeating "I don't know, I don't really know anything, sorry." we asked if any of the beers were IPAs and she just kept saying she didn't know so he just ordered a yeungling. only after the beer got to the table we saw a digital rotating display that mentioned a bunch of craft beers that weren't listed on the menu that they actually did offer. I ended up speaking to the bar manager who helped suggest a beer we loved. it was happy hour when we went and I asked our server what was included and ordered a cocktail accordingly. the other half of my party on the other end of the table ordered appetizers as well. food was decent overall, no complaints there, although the BBQ chicken was dry and just smothered in sauce to compensate. when the check came we noticed we were charged full price for the happy hour appetizers. when I brought it up to both servers they just said "well they pointed to it on the menu so we brought them the full size and you ate it all, plus we're super busy." I feel like when I've already asked about happy hour, it's a part of your job to at the very least mention to the other people in the party that the food they're ordering can also potentially be offered for happy hour pricing even if it's a smaller portion. to put the cherry on the cake, since we were a party of 6, of course the 20% gratuity was added to the check automatically. after speaking with the bar manager he did apologize and offer me a gift card which I appreciate but I definitely think some more training is required for certain employees. YUMMY... Wanted to try this new place with friends across from Nova. Parking was easy in the free garage for the first two hours. The server was very nice and happy hour just began. Felt like getting something heavy so ordered a cheeseburger and fries. About fifteen minutes later the burger was in front of me and cooked med well which I feel is the perfect temperature without drying it out too much but kills all possible bacteria. Only added mayo and it tasted spectacular. While we ate, we watched basketball on the huge monitor against the back wall. Will return soon for a rum drink. read more

I stopped in here late one night after picking up a friend from the airport because this was one of the few places open past midnight on a Monday. Happy hour was until closing time, so we had a few drinks and a small appetizer. The drinks were ok, not too heavy on the liquor unfortunately. We had a chicken quesadilla, and it was surprisingly very tasty. It's not somehere I'd come back too anytime soon, the crowd seemed very young, almost like folks who've just turned 21, and just looking for a place to go and drink legally. Nice place, it was just not for us. The inside of the restaurant was dimly lit, lots of music, and staff that were not very attentive. This is a recently opened restaurant in Davie, so I was super excited to go give it a try. We started right off with the bites menu ordering jerk wings, conch fritters, and empanadas. I was a little disappointed to find that the serving size is just 1 empanada, however, it was pretty good. The jerk wings were spicy for me (so beware), but my friend who has a higher spice tolerance loved them. For my main meal, I ordered the Mojo Pork entree, and I was very happy with it. The portion was harty with much more pork than I was anticipating allowing me to take some home to eat later. The pork was cooked nicely and tender. I substituted french fries for my side, and they were delicious steak fries. My favorite part of the meal had to be dessert. I order the Flan, and I cannot recommend it enough! It was truly incredible! If you like flan, then it is must order in my opinion. The service was great. The wait staff was very attentive. This was our first time ordering at this place, and it was also the only place open at 1:30am around this area. We don't get off of work until after 12am, we were starving and didn't cook dinner tonight. So we decided to order two burgers, very basic with onions. We called in the order for pick up. Once we got home and finally sat down to eat, I put the condiments on my burger and took a bite. It wasn't a "charred" burger. It was so burnt it tasted like I was eating ash from a grill. I thought maybe it was just that bite, so I took another bite and yeah it didn't taste any better. At this point, it wasn't even edible. I decided to call the restaurant and let them know and request a refund. The man that took the order initially is the same one that answered when I called back. I explained the story and told him I could send him pictures but I'm not going back out because it's after 2am. He told me to hold on that he was going to speak to the owner Deeann. When he got back on the phone he asked me to text a picture to a number while we were on the phone, so I sent the picture that I had just taken. He then began to ask for a picture without the bun. Okay, no problem, so I took another one and sent it. Now, he asked me if I can remove all of the toppings cheese that has ketchup etc all on it to take a picture of the burger. I sarcastically told him that I can just bring the burger in tomorrow, or they can come and get it. I didn't want to dig my fingers all in the burger like that. He told me well you're not going to eat it anyway. I'm already extremely upset and thinking to myself okay so let me just do this and get this done and over with. We're 3 pictures in at this point and the owner asked for ANOTHER picture of the bottom of the burger. At this rate I am livid!
