Happy hour shrimp cocktail (2 for $15)
    Dana B.

Our first experience at J&C Oyster was great. We had our baby so we sat at the chef bar. This was fun because we were able to watch the chefs at work and they were all so friendly! Beautiful interior with a large bar in the middle of the restaurant. They have happy hour daily 5-630. We got there around 4, we ordered from the cocktail menu which is way overpriced in my personal opinion. The drinks were good but not worth 18-20$ per drink. We had the pork belly lettuce wraps, 6 oysters, and shrimp. All the food was delicious and we saw so many things being made that looked amazing! They have a good amount of food options on happy hour for half portion and half price! We will definitely go back to try more food. We will most likely skip the drinks unless it's happy hour.

If you are into an upscale experience in Hollywood FL on Harrison st, J & C Oyster is that experience. Nestled in the middle of the block and almost obscure, it is the hidden gem in Hollywwod. My experience here was in a word, WOW. And I owe it all to YELP. I was at my favorite cigar lounge down the street and had a hankering for seafood. J & C popped up on YELP and the rest is history. It is modern in decor and the music was upbeat and fortunately not too loud. There is a bar in the middle of the venue, an open kitchen in the back and tables surround the bar. I sat closer to the front. The service was fantastic. Our server was extra attentive and more than one other person stopped by to see how we were doing. All the food came family style for sharing. Really liked that. And the food is an Asian Fusion. Wish I could have tried everything on the menu, but alas, there is always next time. Started the night with drinks, a wine and a craft beer, I think it was Founder's All Day, descent, and a sparkling water. First course was avocado and crab salad, it was AMAZING. And was the best part of the meal, and the meal overall was quite awesome. Next up was the Oysters, I think Chef's choice. They were good and came with great accompaniments, but for the price point, just good. Next came Thai crab and a roasted cauliflower which had a spicy and blue cheese sauce. Both were really, really, really great. And I mean really. We ended with the cucumber salad which was also quite good, but of all the dishes, wasn't my favorite. They offered dessert and we declined. I guess they are known for a sweet cornbread, but by that time we were stuffed. Took some home and it was all good the next day. Next time I am in Hollywood, can't wait to return. I highly recommend a culinary experience here. It will be AMAZING.

Absolutely amazing! My husband chose this restaurant and at first I was a little skeptical. Normally I choose where we eat because I am picky but he chose well! Everything was amazing. The drinks, the food and especially the service. Daisy and Charlie treated us like royalty. Thank you ladies! If we are ever back in this area we will definitely come back.

I came to the restaurant for the first time for a Yelp, event, I was excited as I had my eye on coming to try their oysters. Must say the food was amazing. The raw and broiled oysters, the cucumber salad the fried chicken, and OMG! The roasted cauliflower for me was a hit if you can disguise the taste like that wow. these were samplers we had for the event. For dinner, we ordered the steak Tartare which has (truffle mayo, oori's milk bread, and parmesan) delicious and fresh, Pork belly which consisted of (bibb lettuce, pickles, green chili vinaigrette), and The Lobster Roll which was prepared with (aromatic butter poached, house-made chips, lime, and the fresh butter roll) amazing tasty everything was perfect. The drinks were amazing we had the Lavie on Rose (Ketel One Vodka, Sakura, Rose, and Citrus). It was Super refreshing and crisp I enjoyed the drink. Service was over the top everyone from the bartenders, and servers to the person preparing the oysters were all amazing, friendly, always engaging in conversation with the customers and with big smiles, and very energetic vibes. This is why we decided to have dinner here must say a wonderful experience. The restaurant gives that vibe of coziness, and chill elegance but not that you have to come in fancy attire. Beautifully decorated in whites and silver, gray in all very comfortable to come with a date or simply to have dinner and drinks. Parking is no problem you can park in spots available on the street or the public parking a few steps away and very well priced we were there for about 3 hours and and we only paid $3.00 you can't beat that. I will be back as their menu has quite a few interesting choices that sparked my interest. a wonderful experience.

Upon arriving this place was spectacular, in terms of the atmosphere and interior design was beautiful! We sat at the bar, plenty of spaces as we did arrive at 5pm. Happy hour at the bar only is Wednesday-Sundays from 5pm-7pm. They accept card only and it's an automatic 20% service charge. Worth it though because the service here is spot on. Everyone there works really hard to make your experience memorable. We started off with some HH drinks $12, I had the lemon spritz and it was refreshing and complimented well with our HH foods. We basically ordered everything off the HH menu with the exception of some veggie options. Everything we ordered on the HH menu (food wise) was under $10 with the exception of the lobster rolls which was $18.00 We had the fish dip that came with homemade chips , 3/5, the fish dip was warm and didn't really give us that WOW factor. It just tasted like watery fish dip... The shrimp cocktail was tasty and pretty jumbo. We ordered the broiled oysters $3.5 each and it was tasty. Love the flavorings with that. They also had a HH special for oysters, half a dozen is $12, these were from the west coat and it was good with the 3 sauces they gave us. The lobster roll was lacking in some areas, it wasn't as tasty as I'd hope for, it was lacking some sauce. We also ordered the fried chicken breast and it was juicy and crispy as well as complimented with this sauce they gave us. Wasn't really a fan of the pork belly but it might be more other people. The waiter was nice enough to take it off the bill which was nice of her. All in all, everything was great! 5/5: Service 4/5: Food street parking only and need to pay by app or by the machine :)

Delicious!! As someone who is not a big "fish" guy, J&C was absolutely amazing. We ordered everything within our party of 6 and everything was better than the next. From the clams with fries, burrata, oxtail to the fried chicken, there was nothing left. We all enjoyed and will definitely be back. Our server, Hannah, was VERY attentive and helped us navigate through the menu when we couldn't figure out what to order. Go enjoy!!

New hot spot in Hollywood! Upscale yet fairly priced seafood with asian influence and could not speak more highly of the service. I have come in both for happy hour with my boyfriend & Sunday brunch with a friend. Everything I have tried has been great, highlights are definitely the oysters and their fried chicken. Cucumber salad was also fresh and a must try! For the brunch, I enjoyed their french toast & the chicken salad, though does have strong taste of blue cheese. Glad to see a nice, modern spot pop up in the Hollywood area.

    Cucumber salad - bland

Good food, but the ambiance absolutely needs work. Upscale seafood-focused restaurant in Hollywood. Very cool sea-esque trendy decor inside. Not a ton of free parking in the area, but easy, cheap paid parking aplenty. We made a reservation for 4 for dinner in advance and last minute moved up the reservation, which was nice of them to accommodate. I temper my expectations when in the burbs but the drinks here were excellent. We had the banana rama, the yuzu margarita, and several c-side martinis. Perfectly balanced, very interesting drinks. I'm so picky about martinis and this was perfect. We ordered the cucumber salad (2/5, bland), hamachi (6/5, so flavorful), tuna confit (4/5 very good), lobster roll (5/5, so warm and perfect), and pork belly (4/5, perfectly cooked). The hamachi was truly a standout - flavorful, nuanced, just very good but I'd also keep coming back for the lobster roll. The cucumber salad was definitely a miss and I'm not clear why it was so flavorless when doused in chili oil, but it happens. Our real gripe here was the ambiance, specifically the music, which made it hard to really enjoy our meal. We came on a night there was a street concert going on outside immediately in front of the restaurant. That said, the sound inside the restaurant, with the doors closed, almost completely insulated us from that noise, which was great. However, the restaurant decided to turn its own music up so loud we couldn't even hold a conversation. I asked twice for them to turn their own music down, and they claimed they did but also claimed the street music was why it was so loud. That wasn't true, because it was clearly the song playing at their restaurant, which was clearly labeled on another bizarre ambiance choice - tv's that displayed the current music and menus. I'm not one to get bothered by noise, but it genuinely ruined the experience and I shouldn't have to talk to someone multiple times to try get it addressed. (It was also never actually addressed.) They kept blaming the festival outside, but we couldn't hear that from inside. Another party literally left the restaurant because the music inside was so loud. I wanted to enjoy my meal and chat with my friends, not be at the clurb. Disappointing but hopefully it's something they will consider fixing in time.

Came in for the first time with my mom for an event. The restaurant is cozy but still enough space in between tables. The food and service on the event was so great that we stayed for dinner. We started with the lobster roll which was delicious. The roll was packed with lobster and it was very flavorful. Next we tried the pork belly which was also crispy and flavorful. And lastly we had the beef tartar which took a while to make but nevertheless was still delicious. We had a great time and I would definitely be back.

All of the food was delicious, but for the price, the portions are small. As a local, this place is inapt for downtown Hollywood due to the prices, but like I said, the food was great quality and the service was excellent. I suggest coming for happy hour because they have a great deal at that time; half off entrees and drinks. There is a huge bar in the center of the restaurant and tables surrounding it.

Ducked in with my pal Joe to try the food and drink, again, and to evaluate these folks for my walking food tours in the area and it was a fine time, here's why: * Love the decor. New, bright, clean, airy, modern, efficient. * Big center bar * Excellent service from River (bartender) and Daisy (server) * Excellent play list of music * Epic drinks by River! See pic! Yum... * Fresh and delicious shrimp cocktail, I love how they were served. The only thing missing was horseradish. * Interesting and tasty take on smoked fish dip. Good stuff, appropriately priced. See you there. Cabeza, OUT!

We stopped in for happy hour on Thursday and had a great time. The restaurant itself is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The bar is large and the bartenders were great. Service was fast and friendly. We ended up ordering two drinks - a beer and a Shirley temple. We decided on the pork belly from the happy hour menu which was small but absolutely delicious. We felt the pricing was high for happy hour in downtown Hollywood. Service charge is automatically applied and the bartender pointed it out upon presenting the check which was appreciated. We paid $26 for three items. There's street parking nearby for only about a $1.25 an hour (this was Thursday evening).

I came by for a Thursday night happy hour. This was my first visit so I wasn't sure what to expect. The restaurant is almost at the very end of the street. Luckily, I was able to find street parking around the corner on the street that runs along the train. You can look into the entire interior from the outside. I sat myself at the bar for HH. I knew I wanted oysters but wasn't sure what else. I started with half dozen raw and one of their baked ones. The oysters were delicious. Fresh, clean, and great HH price. It came with three different sauces. My favorite was the center one. I prefer my oysters raw but the yuzu flavoring of the baked oyster compelled me to try it. I only got one in case I didn't like it and they are a bit costier, but it was in fact spectacular. I went for the fried chicken and it was the right choice. Chicken was great and I loved the pickles. It was the perfect combo. I ended with another half dozen of raw oysters since that was my main goal. Overall service was great. The bill and payment was electronic through a tablet that the server brings over. There is automatic service charge added to all bills as clearly stated in their menu but you are prompted with the option to add more tip. There's more to try and I would love to go back. Definitely hitting up the HH to keep it affordable.

At first, I wasn't too happy -- there were no outdoor seats available and the music at the bar was super loud. We ended up sitting all the way in the back next to a wall by the bathrooms, and the vibe there was just okay. Later, we moved closer to the outside and it completely changed the experience -- I enjoyed it so much more! The drinks are a little pricey but absolutely worth it -- we had the Tikki Kill and it was delicious. The music was amazing and kept the energy up all night. The couches are super comfy, the hookah service is great (they change the charcoal without you even asking), and free parking is a huge plus. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the night even better. The only downsides are that you really need to make a reservation ahead of time for weekends, otherwise you might end up stuck at the bar or in a less atmospheric spot. Also, there are only two gender-neutral restrooms, so there can be a bit of a wait.

Great music played throughout. While we were there it was club music. Just loud enough to enjoy but still able to talk. We ordered a fruit platter and it was large and all of the fruit was deliciously fresh. The only tricky part was the parking. An attendant on the street is shuffling people on the street and at least three different lots. The entrance is around back opposite of Dixie Hwy so save yourself a walk. Not sure what can be done about the restroom situation, but there are very few for the number of people that can be inside. All in all, I would definitely come back for another night of enjoyment.
