Rosemary Grilled Chicken Was there with a large group. Virtually all meals were pre-cooked..That is the only way they could bring food to the table 5 minutes after placing the order. I had to take the initiative to gather used plates and silverware after each course. Even then, I had to ask three times for them to be taken away. When they were, it was done through clenched teeth and a grimace. My Rib-Eye was a perfectly cooked cut of low quality meat. Seriously I could not bite through it. I substituted broccoli for the french fries on my fish and chips and though the fish was hot the broccoli was cold. The menu says the cabbage that comes with the fish and chips is pickled. It was not. It was a small pile of sliced cabbage. The meatloaf was supposed to come with broccoli but came with mashed potatoes and french fries instead. As I said the flavors were all really good but it was clearly a very bad night for the kitchen. We went to Black Oak last night for my husband's birthday. (He wanted Paula Deen's, but also wanted steak. He can be very indecisive.) We walked around and looked at menus for all the restaurants in the area before I convinced him this was the one he wanted. Y'all, I don't mean to brag, but I was right. He even admitted it! We started with Prime Rib Skins, which were absolutely delicious. I could've had just those for dinner. I should've ordered more. It took a loooong time to choose our entrees, because so many things on the menu sounded so good! He ended up choosing chicken fried steak, which came with scrumptious gravy, mashed potatoes and veggies. I was jealous of his meal. He shared because he loves me. I ordered the BBQ nachos with chicken as my entree, and that was not the best choice. They may have been better with the pulled pork option, but the chicken was pretty dry. Hubby tried to get me to send them back, but I didn't think it was worth all that trouble. Plus I was pretty full from eating part of his dinner and all those delicious prime rib skins. The manager ended up taking the nachos off our bill, even though I wouldn't have asked for that! The service was great, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I've only been here about 3 times, but I really like this place. It's a go to when we come to Branson and want a good meal. We most recently went here on a Saturday night around 9. We got seated on the patio right away. Our server was Igor and he was very attentive, without being too over the top. He was triple sat shortly after we arrived, yet he handled it like a boss. We're a huge fan of the menu as well...a place where there is something for everyone. I had the salmon, bf had the bbq mac n cheese. We both agreed our dishes were delicate as well as a perfect portion so we didn't need to go boxes to carry around the landing with us. Igor was great because he informed me I could substitute another side for the rice or veggies if I'd like. It's like he read my mind. I was wanting mashed potatoes and veggies, so I happily obliged! Prices are spot on for what you get. Only suggestion I would have is to offer smaller side salads to add to an entree. Maybe that's just me though. I'm a huge fan of the goat cheese app as well. Definitely try this place, you won't. Update: Well, the ink barely dried on my first review when we went back for a drink, app, and takeout dinner. Sadly this experience was the exact opposite from our previous visit. It started off ok, with drinks and placing our order. Then it went down hill. We requested cheese dip as an app for while we had drinks and waited for our carry out. After 20 minutes, we still had no cheese dip, or our takeout. Finally our takeout came, but he hadn't gotten our app, so we asked her to cancel the app. While she was doing that and getting our tab, I checked our to go order. We ordered chicken parm and the smoked chicken avocado sandwich, mayo on side, with zucchini. They put mayo on the sandwich and the zucchini wasn't separated, so the bread was already soggy and wet. When I brought this to the manager's attention (she was already behind the bar and helping the bartender) she said she'd fix it. When she came back, it was the same soggy bread with zucchini still not contained separately. I'm not a big stickler on having separated food, but I would think a restaurant of this quality should know not to place a liquidy veggie in a box with a sandwich because it will become soggy. I'm sure they have to liquid to go containers. It looked like it was just pure laziness. Side note, I wasn't completely certain the woman I had interacted with was the manager, so when walking out, I asked the hostess to see the manager. When she started to call over the woman I had already complained to with no resolution, I said never mind and left. I felt it worthless to complain to the same person who never resolved it in the first place. Won't be recommending this place as much as I first thought. We we're seated quickly and the server was very efficient and attentive. The food came out quickly and was appealing on the plate. The rosemary chicken was delicious. It was a light meal with a citrus flavor and hint of rosemary. The mashed potatoes were flavorful, however, the gravy had no taste to it. The Ozark burger was pretty dry, and the size of the actual burger was overshadowed by the other ingredients. The club sandwich was advertised as a smoked chicken and other delicious ingredients, but it was just a hyped up cold cut. Ate lunch here on a Saturday afternoon in mid-October. Seated promptly. There was a pretty good stream of people coming in and out. Wait staff was prompt, polite and attentive. Food was a solid three. The buttermilk fried chicken BLT was very good. The chicken batter was crisp, the chicken was hot and the sandwich well-appointed with cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, and a mayo or aioli sauce. However, adding all of those toppings in the kitchen cooled the sandwich down and did not allow the cheese to fully melt on the chicken. I'd recommend bringing the plate open face, with fixings and top bun on the side and let the consumer assemble the final sandwich to suit. The buttermilk fried chicken salad was likewise very tasty. Salad greens were fresh and crisp. Salad had a ton of fresh toppings (see pic). Overall: satisfied and no complaints from us. read more
