    Strawberry and orange mimosa
    Leah B.

My best friend and I came here for brunch on Sunday, and everything from the food to the vibes to the drinks was really good. It was pretty busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Surprisingly, we didn't order any appetizers. For my entrée, I had the steak and eggs with potatoes, salad, and toast. The steak was cooked perfectly--well seasoned, juicy, and so good that I didn't even need sauce. I ordered it medium-well and it came out exactly right. My best friend had eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast, and she said everything was fresh and delicious. We both ordered mimosas--I had the strawberry mimosa and she had the orange--and they were so good. Our waitress was amazing and checked on us regularly. I'll definitely be back to try their dinner menu.

Came here solo dolo just cause after work. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. She gave me some recommendations for food but I let her surprise me between the few choices she suggested. She ultimately got me the short rib pasta and I must say I was pleased I added on cheese and red pepper flakes. When I tell you I left nothing back. My margarita was delicious too. If I'm in the neighborhood I would 100% return

What a difference Perhaps we caught them on a bad night for our previous visit. We enjoyed our meal, including the cocktails. We went on "Pasta Tuesday." Both of our pasta dishes were delicious. The Paper Plane cocktail was good. The Dill With It cocktail was creative and well-balancedl. The room is comfortable and the service was attentive.

A nice restaurant, that's maybe a little bit on the pricier end. The owner is so friendly and sweet and the service is very warm accommodating. Being in Park Slope it's very kid friendly. We've come a handful of times, typically during the pasta Tuesday deal and during brunch. Brunch can be very crowded which does show it's well loved. Despite only just noticing their oven for pizza, I've actually never gotten pizza from here. Described as an Italian restaurant it definitely leans more Americana to me.

Such a lovely spot tucked into one of the nicest areas of Brooklyn -- surrounded by tons of charming little restaurants and quaint shops that make it perfect for a casual night out or date night stroll. I stopped in for dinner and everything was excellent. The happy hour deal is definitely worth checking out! I had the bolognese, and it was so good -- flavorful, perfectly cooked, and that ideal al dente texture. I started with the burrata appetizer, which was the perfect beginning, and paired everything with a lemon drop martini that was beautifully balanced and refreshing. The vibe is welcoming, the staff is friendly and they have good bathrooms! I'll absolutely be coming back!

Prosciutto Arugula Pizza & tricolor pasta

We booked a table for 2 an hour before dinner and were able to get a low top table. It was crowded which was a good sign. All the food looked good at neighboring tables. It was loud, so somewhat hard to hear and not too dark. We ordered prosciutto arugula pizza and tricolor pasta and chocolate flan with orange sauce. The service was really attentive. Parking on street.

    Pineapple and lychee mimosas

This place was clutch. We had the sausage pizza with honey to share, a steak wrap and steak and eggs. All were delicious! The mimosas were good each with just a hint of your flavor of choice. I'd pass on the sangria next time. The service was pretty good they provided us with a high chair. I'd definitely come back to try the pasta.

    Eggs Purgatory

I came here for brunch with high hopes and a growling stomach. The service was excellent--attentive, warm, and genuinely kind--but the food felt like a missed opportunity wrapped in marinara. I ordered the Eggs in Purgatory, which looked like it wanted to be shakshuka's Italian cousin but forgot to bring the flavor profile. The sauce lacked depth, the egg was fine but unremarkable, and the whole dish landed somewhere between "comfort food" and "well, that's... food." The side of crostini was serviceable, though it didn't really help elevate the dish. Now, credit where it's due: the Bloody Marys were killer--spicy, bold, and honestly the highlight of the meal. If I come back, it'll be for the drinks and the friendly staff, not the food. I wanted to love this place. I gave it a real shot. But when the best part of brunch is your drink and your waiter, that's telling. If you're in the neighborhood and thirsty? Sure. Hungry? Maybe look elsewhere.

    Parpadelle Bolognese Pinza

I've been living on Staten Island for 30 years and when it comes to Italian food I can tell the story. Black oak on 5th is an Italian Restaurant designed for south slope yuppies who don't know the real. I placed an order of parpadelle bolognese and a side of pinza, the pinza took 10 minutes to table and I got the parpadelle bolognese at 9:34pm...WOW. The pinza tasted like olive oil on pita bread, it gave me a craving for hummus but the big let down was the parpadelle that had the texture of marshmallows and the bolognese that was a complete let down with no flavor, just imagine someone separating chef boyardee gravy from the pasta and there you have Black oak's bolognese...very sad! I was trying this place out to bring my family here on Saturday and I'm glad I did this place was a big failure. The waitress was generic at best but she was the only waitress there even on a Monday. This place is a horror movie but those park/south sloper's will eat anything as long as it voted for Kamala Harris

A great restaurant in a really nice area of Brooklyn. I picked this place because I had a book event I was attending right down the street. My cousin and I met here and sat together at the bar. The staff is friendly and welcomed us as soon as we walked in. The bartender was great and we had a nice conversation with her. For a starter we ordered the Frito Misto which consisted of calamari, shrimp, and zucchini fried in a tempura batter. Tempura is one of my favorite batters and this starter was cooked perfectly. Very large shrimp was the highlight. Then my cousin and I shared the diavola pizza and Black Oak's burger. WOW! both were cooked perfectly. The pizza description mentioned it would be on spicy side but it wasn't too much. The burger was huge! I really loved all the food. I had no complaints with anything. It was such a nice time catching up with family while sitting at the bar. I would highly recommend when visiting the area.

Cute restaurant, staff very friendly and efficient! Food came out well. Ordered: Burrata, Meatballs, Cacio e Pepe and chicken. Spent about 2hrs there with laughters which including two glasses of wine and dessert with friends but I forgot to take pictures of the dessert..

Came here on a Wednesday for happy hour. The restaurant is very cozy and inviting. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit. I got a burger which was a standard tasty burger and came with fresh greens and blue cheese, which I enjoyed. The service was very slow but this was not the waitstaff's fault as the establishment only had 1 waitress for all the tables inside and outside. The place was pretty full for a Weds evening but it also is in a very popular area. Another discrepancy was we were charged the non happy hour price for one drink. When we asked about it, it was said because we ordered after 7pm but the menu says happy hour is 4-8. Nevertheless they fixed it on the bill. Overall the food was good but they need more waitstaff.

I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget.
