I reviewed the menu via open table app. and placed my order via phone. My husband picked up the food and of course I checked the receipt. I notified "Black Olive"and advised the manager the price he charged me were higher then the prices on open table app. The manager stated, he has nothing to do with their web site and his prices are accurate. POINT: As a business you want to maintain current customer and gain future customers; therefore, you own the error, satisfy your customer and fix the problem. This manager blamed the app, the cookies on my phone and told me to call apple to correct the problem....Thanks for an unpleasant experience and lack of professionalism. read more

Started with the grilled octopus & it was very good. My husband & I both ordered the gyro platter (comes with Greek fries & house salad) I was given the sandwich only & fries. Not sure if the waitress misheard me or if the kitchen screwed up. My husband didn't get the tzatziki that was supposed to come with his. We asked for a side of it & the waitress brought it over, no problem. The food was very good & I ate most of my husbands salad which I thought was really tasty. My daughter got chicken fingers & fries from the kids menu which she seemed happy with. It was overall a good meal. I would like to go back again. read more

Just had dinner here with my wife. I was looking forward to this restaurant since I enjoy Greek cuisine and have had some wonderful experiences in other places. Sadly, I wasn't very impressed. Decent smaller crowd size and dining facility was fair. Dinner began with not Pita or Flat bread, but what looked like store purchased french-bread and oil, for me that kind of ruins the following dining experience. In my opinion, the menu was was not very impressive selection wise. The dinner entrees were okay, but at this point I could have just eaten Italian food and not cared about the difference. Decided to have the desert portion elsewhere, so I can't comment on their deserts. I'll just chalk tonight's dining experience to my motto of "live and learn and never return". read more

Amazing. I've had mediteranean food before but this is some of the best. There are a few places in NJ and this is the best I've found and for very reasonable prices. The dessert - especially the baklava is so good. I got it to go and it came in two pieces. I imagine so that it doesnt become one giant lump of soggy honey which was thoughtful. Excellent service and the flavor of the food was outstanding. My only complaint was that all of our dishes seemed to be somewhat lukewarm rather than hot when delivered. seriously awesome. the spicy cheesy buttery spread app is amazing. like the kind of stuff you could spread on a shoe and it would still taste ridiculous. but instead of shoes, they give warm, grilled pita and that is bliss. the octopus is the best i have ever had. tender, not rubber, melts in your mouth. the braised lamb shank is fantastic, flavorful, falling off the bone. short rib also fantastic with onions. lemon infused potatoes, orzo, just all so awesome. ok i understand if someone goes there for hummus, their hummus is not what you might be used to. but it is flavorful and great to spoon on some pita and gobble. I cant say that I usually think of Greek food when its time to pick a restaurant. but this is a game changer for me. I have eaten at Greek restaurants in Philly, NYC, LA, and this is the best Greek food I have ever had. also, our waitstaff was amazing as well, very friendly, attentive, helpful. We have been frequenting this restaurant for years. But for the past couple of years, when ordering take out they usually get the order wrong. Plus they have gotten stingy. For example Their gyro sandwiches as stated on the menu should contain lettuce tomato onions and tzatiki sauce. There is no lettuce, just a few sprigs of parsley and one or two minuscule pieces of cherry tomato. When I called tonight to state our disappointment once again, the person who answered the phone was very nice, but I asked to speak to the manager. A very nasty man got on the phone and said lettuce and tomato have never come on the sandwiches. I told him yes they have and it is stated on the menu. He said no you're wrong. He said I should be civil. I was very diplomatic and respectful. He was not. I guess he does not value customers. I can't help but wonder if I had been a man, would he have shown me more respect? In these terrible times, we like to order restaurant food 1 to 2 times a week. We want our favorite places to stay in business. However, we will never ever order from Black Olive in Voorhees again. The quality has gone down and the manager/owner is extremely rude to customers. read more

I've been here twice now and the first time I had a pasta dish that I thought was very good. This time around I got the GYRO Platter. The best thing on the plate was the french fries, they were crispy and seasoned well however the main food, the meat, was dry. If it was more moist i'm sure i would have been happy. I absolutely love this place! I've been there twice now with family and the food is just delicious! The ambiance is nice and relaxing, very well decorated. The staff is very polite and is able to deal with our large parties. The only down side I would say is that since we always have a lot of people and the place is not that big, we have to be split up into two or more tables. Other than that... We never had anything quite like this and thought we would try something different. I can not tell you how happy we are that we did. The place is cozy casual with lots of windows. The food was amazing. I mean the apps, the entrees and the desert we all delicious. The server knew the food and the menu well and the floor manager stopped by and talked with each table for a while. This is a great choice for those tired of Applebee's, Champps, PJ's and alike. Go here, have an open mind and enjoy the flavors of this great Greek food. There is something for the light eater, the vegetarian, the meat and potatoes person and everything in between. Ordered take out and was very saddened at the lack of food considering the bill was rather high. Could not believe how little food was actually included in each app which ranged from $10-13 and the food was ice cold. Had to make tacos to supplement the dinner after spending close to $80. Would be one star but changed to two on the account of the staff's pleasant manner and the gryo sandwich platter which seemed like a good deal at $10. Our favorite Greek Restaurant! From the first time we went, when they first opened till..hopefully never our last this is a fabulous place. To start the Baklava nothing short of amazing its just like Mrs D's recipe given to me years ago. The house salad I love it I now order the grilled calamari appetizer and put it on top perfect with the lemon chicken soup finishing of course with the Baklava! The Black Olive is a real GEM! Delicious Greek cousine made upon order and cooked to perfection. It has been a long time since I have tasted Moussaka prepared this well. The lamb chops, served as an appetizer, were charcoaled grilled perfectly. The lentil soup (of the day) was hearty and spiced just right. The Baklava and Galaktoboureko, made on the premises, was wonderful. My wife and I both, entirely enjoyed our visit, and the friendly and informative staff, and are looking forward to returning to try more items on the menu. read more

I've been here twice, and both times the place was almost empty, which is a shame. The food is really good, the prices are fair, and it's next to a really terrific theater. Anyway, it gets 4 instead of 5 stars for a couple of reasons: First, it just isn't the best Greek food I've had. It's very good, but not the best. I love pastitsio and taramosalata, and when I'm in the mood for them, Black Olive is convenient and good enough to satisfy my craving. I will say, though, that when I brought my boyfriend here for lunch on his birthday last week before we caught a movie, he said his gyro and fries were the best of either he's ever had. I can confirm that the fries were out of this world, and the gyro was especially good (although not a best for me). Second, consistency. The first time I was here was within a couple of months of their opening and I had avgolemono, pastitsio, and baklava, shared taramosalata with my boyfriend, and can't remember what he had. The pastitsio was missing both salt and nutmeg, and was nothing to write home about. When my boyfriend and I went for his birthday, the pastitsio was perfectly seasoned. So it did get better, but I'm not sure what to expect next time (which there will be). The ambiance and service are both great. If you live in South Jersey and like Greek food (or don't know if you like Greek food, but are willing to try it), check out Black Olive. read more

This was our first visit to Black Olive, and we can't stop raving about it. Everything, from the atmosphere to the food to the service, was perfect. It was busy, but not overly crowded and not loud. It was nice to be able to have a relaxing dinner and actually hear each other from across the table. We shared the tyrokafteri as an appetizer (incredible) and actually boxed up what we didn't eat because it was just so good. I don't think I've ever done that with an appetizer before! My husband got the lamb steak special with salmon chowder, he said it was all delicious. I ordered the spanakopita platter. The side Greek salad was so fresh and the dressing was perfect. We split some coffee and the ekmek kataifi for dessert. A nearby patron also ordered it and said it was one of the best desserts he'd ever had. My husband and I have to agree; it was so fresh, perfectly sweet, and a light way to end the dinner. We didn't realize it was a BYOB but we will definitely be taking advantage of that in the future. My family is Armenian and I grew up eating a lot of Mediterranean food, so I have very high standards. Black Olive definitely passed the test and I can't wait to come back here with my family. read more

We went for lunch last weekend and the food and service was exceptional! Our waiter was attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly...we ordered the hummus to start and the dill in it was a delightful surprise. The bread came with some delicious olive oil and a few olives! Our waiter noticed we, well I, had finished the olives and stopped to ask if we wanted more. He came back with more olives and our entrees came shortly thereafter. I ordered the spanikopita, it was simply delicious and the Greek salad was perfectly dressed with a light vinaigrette. My fiance had chicken slouvaki which was also prepared perfectly and those Greek fries were sooooo good...between the bread, the hummus and our entrees we were stuffed! We did get some baklava to take home which was just out of this world! I can't say enough good things about this place...this was our first time and we will definitely be going back soon! read more

My husband & I and two friends had dinner at this restaurant on Sat. night; it was a first for all four of us. My husband is a lamb chop fan, & neighbors had recommended The Black Olive as a great place for good lamb. Imagine our surprise when his lamb chops turned out to be tough, sinewy, & pretty much inedible. We called the waitress over, & she took them away. Then the manager came over and said that the chef (obviously the owner) refused to take them back, saying there was nothing wrong with them, & that if my husband wanted something else he'd be charged for another meal! In all our years of dining all over the world, we'd never come across this. It cost us $29.00 for chops we gave to our daughters dog. We went back to the restaurant today to speak to the owner; he was quite nasty & rude. Needless to say, we'll never go there again. Enter at your own risk; if something isn't to your liking, you'll be stuck with it. By the way, both the waitress & manager were very embarrassed by this. They could see what was wrong with the chops, but couldn't do anything about it! read more

ZERO stars. Had a 7:30 reservation for a party of 4 on a Friday night. First red flag was that there was only 1 party dining there. Friday night is a popular time for dinners, yet the place was empty. Upon being seated I presented a coupon. Waiter brought it to the back, then returned and said they couldn't take it because it was a Friday night, yet there was no exclusion stating that. I did not push back, but definitely got the impression they didn't like that I asked about using a coupon. The octopus appetizer had ok flavor, but was a bit overdone and was a small portion for the price (compared to other places and compared to the pictures we saw posted online). I ordered the moussaka as my entree. It arrived with a hair in my food. Was it because I asked about using a coupon? No one else's food had hair. I didn't dare say anything. Instead I picked it out and ate around it. The moussaka was disgusting. I could barely keep it down. By 8:30 the lights went on, music turned off and they started putting up the chairs. They advertise that they close at 10pm, but we were literally rushed out of the restaurant after an hour of being there. Any good restaurant is still hopping at 8:30 on a Friday night. There are no redeeming qualities. I'll never return. read more

There are restaurants where you go to eat and then there are restaurants where you go to dine. The Black Olive falls into the dining category. We were a party of six who used their call ahead service (alas they do not take reservations between 6 and 8 P on Saturday night) and were seated at our requested time of 730 P. The Cold Pikilia appetizer was an excellent sampler appetizer of four greek salads including hummus, eggplant, yogurt and cod roe. Served with lots of pita, bread and olives. I had the salmon (beautifully grilled and perfectly cooked) with the cucumber salad and orzo. My wife had the moussaka which she described as simply excellent. For desert they have the standard baklava and EKMEG. Ekmeg is a greek layer cake which must be tried to be understood. Our server, Tara, was the model of professionalism! When we arrived it was to a packed house yet we never felt rushed. She did an excellent job with everything. Dinner for the six of us including tax and a nice tip was $ 70 per couple. Hotel nearby recommended this restaurant. As a native Greek I was never so disappointed in the quality of food. Saganaki was burned and wasn't even lit with ouzo. Food was bland but presentation was nice. This restaurant is like an Olive garden to Italians. I can't believe they have the nerve to call this a Greek restaurant. The interior and decor does not remind me of anywhere in Greece. Music in background is generic. If you want a real Greek experience try Pithari in Highland Park, Anemos in Manalapan or any restaurant in Astoria. I rate this restaurant with 5 moonzes. To make a long story short, he was EXTREMELY rude on the phone and, because of this, we cancelled our order and will never set foot in this restaurant. The Black Olive is literally 20 steps from my office. A lot of my coworkers are from/worked in the Philly area...so we were super excited to see a Greek restaurant open up. First time there -it's a great space with windows everywhere. The scenery is not so spectacular but the restaurant is nice. Place is new so I will give it the benefit of the doubt on service. Salad came out before appetizer. The house salad is good - but I just wish there was a little more of it, nice light olive oil dill dressing. We ordered the Pikilia - 4 cold salads with pita and all three we terrific. As an entree I had the lamb shank - really good flavor and melted off the bone - my wife had the charcoal grilled seafood and it was really good but there really wasn't enough of it. If you order that definitely get a side. Overall experience was good - the food was really good and I am sure they will work out the service clinks - I would recommend the Black Olive - I hope it makes it read more

I never really was impressed with Greek food before but I brought a Greek coworker to eat dinner at Black Olive. Man, was the food awesome. My coworker said that the food was excellent and some dishes were even better than what he can get in Greece (the octopus appetizer!). The charcoal grilled Haloumi cheese appetizer was off the friggin' hook. I am definitely addicted to it. I had the moussaka, which was awesome and it came with a salad which I devoured. All of the food that we ordered was extremely tasty and had a great plate presentation. I will definitely go back within a week as this food really impressed me!!!! read more
