While on vacation in Hyannis, my family and I decided to get our first tattoos. Let me just say, Black Pearl Tattoo is the place to go. We worked with @chris666trash and he didn't disappoint. We met earlier in the week to let him know what we wanted, size, and location. A couple days later, we met again to see the design mockups he created and to see if we wanted to add or change anything. The day of the tattooing, Chris was great. He talked us through each step of the process, checked in to see if we needed to stretch/move (each of our tattoos took at least an hour) during the tattooing, and told us what to expect and general after care. If you're looking to get your first or your 30th tattoo, come to Black Pearl. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was also there to get my helix down sized and Devin helped me out. Unfortunately, I'm an "in-between" size and he wasn't able to change it out right then and there. However, Devin did tell me what size I needed and where I could purchase it. Totally great time from start to finish. Called ahead to ask about quiet days and best times for a walk in in the next week and basic questions like ship min and cash/card etc ($100 min and cash only). Decided to follow their advice on day and timing and got in for myself and my brother with Chris. Everyone there was a gem tho. The piercer was amazing and there were so many piercing walk ins. I liked that the ppl who worked there hung out in the lobby area when not working. Nice vibe from all. Chris was my brothers dream artist in general and so getting him to do the walk in was a dream come true. Everything is super clean, affordable but fair, and wicked high quality. We both plan on coming back. It was my brothers first tattoo and he was estactic and now wants Chris to do more and will make the trip since he isn't local. I plan on the same sometime!! Great local spot and can't believe I've missed it over the years I loved it. Chris's skills are unmatched. He did say he's the only one who does hands and he did my hand fantastically and forgive the pic because they're fresh in it so obviously red and a little puffed out/fresh but trust that while writing this they healed amazing-I just don't have a new pic of both yet. read more

Alika, the owner and my artist, set up the tray and cleaned the stand with me watching which reassured me the room was clean. He was so nice and was so patient with my mom and I. Really great experience honestly. Although he's struggling with booking at the moment, that's only because he's the only artist there right now due to an artist being injured. He didn't rush and he took his time, which resulted in the perfect tattoo. My mom loves her tattoo and I'm already planning my next one. Can't stop looking at it!! Called to let shop know I have a serious infection from my tattoo last Friday and the woman who answered the phone said she has no idea what "cellulitis" is. She said she would pass my message along. I am very disappointed that my tattoo is a mess, I have a horrible infection that antibiotics aren't helping with yet, and to top it off no one even cares. I cleaned this tattoo properly as I am a licensed RN. I don't know what happened and I wasn't calling to blame anyone but now I am upset. Not even an "are you ok". read more

I wanted to add a small lighthouse to my Boston skyline tattoo I already had. It took all of 5 minutes but Emily was FANTASTIC! She was by far the best tattoo artist I've ever seen. She was so nice, made sure I was feeling okay while tattooing, explained the aftercare very thoroughly and even gave me some cream to put on for the next 2 days. The shop was clean and helpful. I was able to walk in, she drew up two options for me, and was able to leave to get lunch and come back and get tattooed all within 2.5 hours. What a great experience. My wife and I went in for impulsive anniversary tattoos, and were obviously not the clientele they're normally used to. But everyone we met at the shop was patient and awesome to talk with. Our artist, Dee, is amazingly talented and approaches each tattoo with the same level of professionalism, regardless of how simple or ornate. The shop displays beautiful artwork, and has a warm and welcoming feeling, especially when compared with a certain shop across the street. Their prices are reasonable and the attention to detail impressive. Last but not least, it's neat and well kept, and there's never a concern that you're in anything other than a sanitary environment. Everything started off great! Nef did a great job with not tearing up my skin. I never even scabbed during the healing process. My issue came about today when I went back for a simple touch-up. I'm from out of town and will be leaving in a week. I was turned away immediately after asking for the touch-up under the pretense that it was too soon and I'd have to come back in two weeks. I explained that I wouldn't be here. I was then told that I would have to get it touched up at home. So, I paid $360 for a tattoo that needs touching up and now I'll have to pay more at home! They wouldn't even look at my tattoo to see if it could be done. read more

I went in to get a tattoo done for my husband who had just passed away a week earlier. His cancer ribbon with dog tags wrapped around it with his initials in it to represent his service in the army. Chris did my tattoo for me. After it healing I can say that I am very disappointed. The outline is rushed as was the coloring as I'm missing patches of yellow in many areas. I would not recommend coming here or having Chris do your tattoo for you. He rushed something that was supposed to be special for me. I even emailed Chris and asked him about fixing it or telling me the colors he used so I can pay someone else to fix it for me. No reply. Super disappointed read more

It doesnt matter to them if you like the finished product or not they could care less..you will be expected to pay because lord knows they need that $50 to make the business succeed. This is one of the best shops I've been to. I grew up in southern California where finding skilled artists was a lot easier than it is here. When I moved out here I searched for a place that did good work for a fair price. I tried several places over the few years I've lived out here and never found a place I was comfortable getting work done in. Then I found black pearl. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed. Other shops in the area were cold and frankly rude towards me. Not at black pearl. I was greeted as soon as walked in and had an artist to sit and speak with quickly. The quailty of work I had done was amazing. Chris trash is the artist I have doing my work. He touched up a sunflower I had on my shoulder and it looks better now than it ever looked. I'm hesitant to even post this but people need to know what is going on here. My "tattoo artist" smelled like booze and my large very VISIBLE tattoo has a TON of obvious mistakes. I am now going to have to have to see if someone else can fix this, which should not be the case with a new tattoo. Over all this place is sketchy, unprofessional and sloppy. Stopped into black pearl today in search of body jewelry, found exactly what I was looking for ;reasonably priced. The gentlemen at the counter (nef casso) was super friendly and helpful. Didnt intend on getting a tattoo, but after talking to him for a few decided to get some work done on an existing piece I had gotten done off cape that I wasnt 100% happy with. Would highly recommend to anyone especially someone getting their first tattoo! I got my first last week with the owner Alika, he was so patient and explained every step. I was very nervous getting my first he let know know what to expect before, during and after, gave me an honest time frame and very fair price. He explained how I could get nausea or dizziness during the tatoo and that it was all normal if I did and that all the staff has basic EMT Training. Even though I thought I was doing good I did pass out when I suddenly felt dizzy. His whole team stepped in to assist waking me up, where I then threw up on vomit I was choking on. I woke up to 4 staff members all calm taking care of me and with my confusing I was utterly embarrassed. They reassured me it happens all the time and it wasn't my fault, gave me a shirt to wear and sat with me to make sure I was alright through the rest of the tattoo.
