Although their prices are a little high, the quality of the food is worth it. Everything I ordered was fresh, flavorful, and F A N T A S T I C For my appetizer, I ordered the calamari (of course), and some she crab soup to warm me up. I honestly wasn't disappointed at all. The calamari was served sizzling hot, which I love, because I love when my food pretty much burns my face off, and the soup was served fresh from the stove, just the steam from my cup of soup was already warming me up. But what I really want to highlight was the marinara sauce from the calamari. The sweetness from the sauce paired well with the saltiness of the skin. I would highly recommend ordering the calamari for your appetizer. If you're with a big party (when I went, I went with 6 other people total), you honestly don't need to order anything else other than that. They also give complimentary pita bread and butter. For my main entree, actually ended up getting the buffalo shrimp since I was pretty full from my appetizer orders. The fried skin had all the flavor, and the shrimps being tossed in the buffalo sauce just made it even better. I hope you all end up checking this place out. Their servers/hosts are all from within the area, and really take the time out of their night to talk to you. Well this was so darn good I forgot to take photos. Trust me there was nothing left on my plate. Whoever is making the collard greens deserves a brand new Mercedes or something. Latest issue is an 8% "inflation fee". This was discovered when the bill was presented. S&G were good: grits were moist, not to mushy, not quite stone ground but similar. Shrimp over cooked but good seasoning overall. My wife ordered a lackluster salad with grilled shrimp that were small, overcooked, and barely warm. My meal was OK, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I just ended a review of another Chesapeake restaurant this way: "I'll be back. The Black Pelican impress me and a great spot to eat on a sunny day. I brought the family along and we had a nice time. We sat outside which was nice to have that as an option, it was beautiful outside. We definitely had to fight the fly army and the Queen, but the food was great. I wanted another round of those buffalo shrimp, banging! The ribs were a little burnt but crushed all the same. My girl enjoyed her salmon as well. The crab dip was excellent with the chips. I am sure their seafood is great. However I am pregnant and was told not to eat seafood so I had to order something else: I chose the wood fired Margherita pizza. I was expecting "fresh mozzarella" and delicious freshly diced Roma tomatoes like was listed on the description on the menu. Unfortunately the pizza had so much of the balsamic glaze it really overpowered everything else. The tomatoes were not fresh. It looked like they threw some shredded cheese on top, not my idea of "fresh mozzarella" that is usually on Margherita pizza. The crab rangoons were "okay" but were floating in too much sauce. Pretty neat little place. The prices are kinda high and the selection is slim. I had the grilled sword fish but I've never seen sword fish look like this. I don't think it was sword fish. I'm almost certain it wasn't sword fish. It was a tasty little grilled fish fillet though. The side of sautéed veggies were very fresh and delicious. I also had jalapeño cheddar grits which were spicy and cheesy and just really good. Didn't really like the pita triangles they give you at the beginning. My husband had the fried shrimp & fish with fries which was really tasty! Our server seemed to be overwhelmed with tables. I rarely give five stars but this place is just great. We started with the baked Brie and the stuffed jalapeños. The Brie was cooked perfectly with the Melba sauce and house made pitas. Great combination. My wife had the house salad topped with grilled salmon- she loved it. I had the Stationkeepers rib eye steak. Cooked perfectly! Ended the meal with their awesome coconut cream pie and creme brûlée coffee. Our son had grilled chicken with mashed sweet potatoes! Served on a frisbee that he gets to take home!! This is a 3.5 star review based on the food, hospitality service and overall outlook of the place. I must say that there is nothing spectacular in this place however I feel like everything seems extraordinary average. The menu was very standardized although I was quite impressed that specials of the day were available. For today's visit, I ordered the MIXED CAJUN FISH BITES to start with and finish up with PELICANS HOUSEMADE CRAB CAKE. Overall, the food presentation and flavor profile was overly average. Thought the food was seasoned well and delectable. I must admit that I truly enjoyed every bite of it. The appetizer was probably the stellar item of the day. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. If there is one thing that I applaud for this place is using fresh and refreshing components of the dish. The customer service on the other hand was ok. Though the staff was friendly and polite but lack of enthusiasm. I don't complain but as per my observation the staff was obligated to do so because its part of their job. I'm pretty indifferent about this place. The food was ok, but it wasn't great. I did like it, though. I just felt like it was pretty overpriced. I wouldn't really say it was worth the price of it. None of us had really considered any of our food really stellar. We also ordered drinks--I thought might was pretty good, but my sister's was too strong for her taste. Our server was very friendly. I thought she was really great. The restaurant has a nice feel to it. It looks pretty spacious and open. It's also very conveniently located. I don't think I would go back, though. Love love the food here! I usually always eat off the specials menu! My fave is the fish tacos (they are delicious and HUGE! The pita bread is even delectable! It my favorite little lunch spot, whether I want healthy or I'm feeling like a hungry fat girl I'm on it in his place and it's always spot on for me! They even give you great little lunch punch cards to redeem for a free entrée when your achieve you max. The staff is so friendly and I've never seen them have a bad day (they certainly DONT show it) Come one come all!! It didn't seem to matter, as they were a pretty decent size. The tacos came with a side of guac that was average, black beans that seemed a little watery, and pico de gallo that really was just some diced up tomatoes, no bueno. My fiance got a chicken sandwich and his sister got a burger. I believe they both went the cowboy route when dressing them up. Both seemed to enjoy their food, but my man didn't finish his fries, which is a rarity. I had a bite of the chicken sandwich and to me, it seemed a little too thin and pounded down.
