Really good food...a bit more foodie than I expected...but still good! Great service. Very clean restaurant. I would come again!

The service was on the slow side and impersonal. Normally this would have been acceptable, but with the prices being so high, you would expect warmth and some level of efficiency. The menu was disappointingly limited. There were only five main courses to choose from. I ordered the pork chop special. I should have asked for who much it cost. It was $29! $29 for two pork chops on top of mash potatoes. The mash potatoes were very good. The pork chops were small and over cooked. I have had better pork chops at Denny's. Really. The wine pour was really small. We sat near the hostess station. There were three teenagers up there chatting away. Their kindness was superficial. They would smile and say hello. But as soon as the person walked past them, they would look unhappy or grimace. The young lady who served us water, banged glasses of water on our table, remembered she didn't greet us, said something nice, put on a quick superficial smile, and then quickly went away with an annoyed look on her face. The chocolate/peanut butter desert was good. I wouldn't recommend it just for the prices. The food wasn't special. For the prices, one would expect real smiles, good service, and good food. read more

Terrible overpriced food. Cheese sauce in mac and cheese had a strange chalky texture making it almost inedible. Salmon was dry and obviously over cooked. At first the atmosphere seems cool and modern but after you experience the food and service you realize that you just got old-fashioned swindled and that ain't cool at all. read more

Sheboygan could totally use more places like this! We came in for lunch one day and had the Pork Butt Sandwich and the New Yorker. Both were excellent and quite filling! And the fries...I was a bit worried with the thin shoestring like fries, but they were surprisingly good. It's certainly on the pricier side for Sheboygan, but you do get what you pay for in quality. Great place themed around a creative food and drink menu and a porcine aesthetic. The three separate dishes we ordered were all excellent, but the won tons were a bit "uncomplex". I really liked this place, this saved our Sunday lunch from sucking. Even some decent stuff for vegetarians (though not a ton). So, we were travelling back from Door County to the Chicagoland area, and figured we'd stop for lunch at Sheboygan. We had picked a breakfast and brunch place based on something that looked like it'd appeal to us, though I was driving at the time, and no one noticed that the brunch place we chose was actually closed on sunday. Fair enough, we were very likely going to stop at the Children's Museum to let the kid get tired out to nap most of the trip home, so we'll pick whatever we can that's not too far from. As it turns out on a sunday, downtown Sheboygan is kind of a ghost town. My wife gets back to yelp and sees that The Black Pig is on the same street, and seems to be open. I immediately say "Yep!" as I do whenever my wife chimes in a restaurant that seems like wouldn't appeal to her mostly vegetarian ways, a quick look at the menu online and she's okay with it. For sunday at noonish, it's not very crowded. It seemed like it might be a mostly out of town people, like ourselves and that's fine, because it was all pretty great. My wife was eyeing the roasted mushroom and broccoli but ended up with the special pancakes, which were a white chocolate and mixed berry (which is basically designed for her), she really liked that. I got the BBQ pork sandwich and my sister-in-law got the BBQ pork and pineapple flatbread. Interestingly enough, the two seemed like they weren't the same sauce, but pineapple might have played into that, but it seemed like it was pretty well thought out for both. I upgraded to their duck fat fries with some sort of sun-dried cherry ketchup. The sandwich was really good (though a bit messy, I ended up just eating it open face with a fork, though I ate it all). Duck-fat fries, I've never been as keen on them as some, but the ketchup was really great. We also got a half-order of the mushroom and broccoli mac and cheese and it was pretty amazing and the kid really dug what he had of that. Service was fine, good descriptions of things, pleasant, attentive with refills and all. Prices were good for a place of that quality. I really dug this place. I'd totally go again. If you're passing by, it's totally worth a short 5-10 minute diversion into downtown Sheboygan. If you're going to the Childrens Museum in Sheboygan (which is pretty decent), get yourself a nice meal at a restaurant that is actually good and pretty much across the street from it. read more

Great food and atmosphere! Bloody Mary is just like all the posted pictures and tastes incredible. Pork sandwich was very good. We both had fries as a side and they are really good straw fries. My husband had the crazy special that was a cheeseburger topped with pork, chili, onion and a fried egg...it was huge and he loved it. read more

The food and atmosphere is definitely above average for Sheboygan. We love the truffle bacon mac and fries. Their burgers are amazing, especially with a fried egg. The only "meh" aspect is for the several times we've been there, the service has been hit or miss. The server we had on our first trip spent the entire time talking to her friends at a another table and barely came by. On a few other visits, the servers almost screamed at us to be heard over the noise, which was unnecessary. read more

The food is very great, wonderful Mac and cheese dishes are just so mouth watering. The service is friendly and quick, atmosphere is fun to look at, the wall has names that people chosen to give that wonderful pig statue on the bar. This place in the past was a former Baxters pizza restaurant. Many other dishes to eat from, I think they make their own lemonade and raspberry tea there too. This was a fantastic surprise! We are not from the area and found this restaurant on the way home from Door County. Literally everything was fantastic, from the bacon and egg flatbread to the ginger bourbon cocktail to the cauliflower pancetta Mac and cheese. Yum. We will be back!!! read more

Rather disappointed. Order the special scallops entre and was expecting more than a poorly made and presented dish. No salad or rolls to go with a salt & pepper brown gravy rosetto, corn and bacon sauce with scallops. The simple bowl with 5 scallops and the poor seasoned and textured sauce was grossly over priced. Wow! The Black Pig is our new favorite place to dine out in Sheboygan! The service is impeccable and the food outstanding. It is family friendly but also a great place to go on a date night. I highly recommend the sausage and broccoli. The spinach salad and PAT (pancetta, arugula and tomato) were delightful as well. If you are planning a trip to Sheboygan, this is the place! read more

Iunch is served from 11:00 - 2:00. We walked in the door at 10 minutes to 2:00 and were greeted HORRIBLY! The owner was more interested in tasting wine at the bar than seating us. Our waiter was attentive and helpful when we asked to be moved from the table in front of the fire place (it was a beautiful spring day) to the more appropriate bright window seat. Ate there last night. Service was very slow. We are a very relaxed group and like to joke around, however the waitress became a little too comfortable with us, which was made clear when she started to swear and told us the chefs get really mad when you ask to cut their sandwiches in half. Bear Big Butt Pork Sandwich, was dry and not very tasteful. Fries were good, spinach salad was good. For the price of the food vs. quality and service, I doubt I will return. read more

I am going to give this place a 4 star rating despite the server who had no clue about the menu because the food was just that good. We came for Sunday Brunch and we started it off Wisconsin style with a Bloody Mary with a Spotted Cow chaser. It was really good and thank you for offering a great beer chase instead of a cheap beer chaser. The assortment of items served with the Bloody was very nice. We started out meal with the Duck-Dine'sty Fries that are cooked in duck fat and served with house made sundried cherry ketchup. The match stick fries were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and the cherry ketchup went with them really well. My husband had the Rajun Cajun Eggs Benedict this is three farm fresh eggs poached and served over andouille potato hash, with a creole hollandaise sauce, and shaved prosciutto. This benedict doesn't come with the traditional English muffin the eggs are served on top of the very excellent potato hash. The shaved prosciutto was a slice that was rolled up and served along side it. It was delicious but the way it was served didn't match the description. The hollandaise was delicious! I had the special pulled BBQ pork omelet topped with a cheese sauce and served with rosemary potatoes. The omelet was huge and delicious! Who knew BBQ pulled pork went with eggs. The pork was tender and delicious and that cheese sauce made the dish so decadent. I ordered a homemade biscuit on the side and it was served with butter and raspberry jam. The biscuit was tender and flaky and the jam was just sweet enough to cut through the richness of the omelet. As an after thought we ordered the Berkshire Pork fried wontons. The menu says it is ground pork with braised red cabbage, and bacon and served with an apple sweet and sour dipping sauce. The pork was delicious and so was the sauce. The wonton was just ok, it was kind of greasy and to me was too much for the pork. If there was cabbage and bacon in this dish I could not detect it, and maybe that was the point. It was served over an Asian slaw which was ok. The food was really well done and well priced, the space is terrific. Now on to the service that needs to be cleaned up because this will chase people away. The server we had didn't know the menu or what went with what. When I asked about the omelet special specifically did it come with a potato or a toast or something. The response she gave was I don't know this was all they told us and she stood there looking at me, until I asked her to please go check. She came back and explained it came with the potatoes. I ordered the omelet and asked for a biscuit on the side, she responded that it didn't come with a biscuit, I said I realize that but can I pay for one. When my husband ordered the Rajun Cajun bene I asked if it came with a biscuit or something. I have never seen a bene not served on a biscuit or English Muffin so I was not getting it. The server said no just the potato. At that point she could have taken the opportunity to explain the dish to us, but nope, no help at all. The person serving as the host walked by 6 or 7 times since we were sitting right by the door and he never even said hello. The service was purely pedestrian and not friendly, that needs to be fixed. We were at the black pig for Easter brunch. After being seated we waited for our waitress for at least 10 mins. After she came she took your drink orders and food order at once. We got our food and appetizer of bread and a duck flat bread. We waited for a hour after this for our food. Our waitress was checking on other tables and not checking on ours. The drinks were not refilled. We asked the bus boy and a different waitress for refills and they only filled the waters even after being asked to fill our sodas. The waitress only had four tables to serve. We eventually gave up and left. So we only had the flat bread appetizer and it was ok. It was very loud in the building which made it really hard to have a conversation. Highly disappointed!! read more

We are huge fans of this restaurant and it's staff. There is not one item on the menu that we haven't tried and are especially fond of the Mac n cheese dishes, daily specials and the mussels. Went last night before heading across the street to the theater. You would expect that they would staff all areas knowing that they would have a theater crowd but they did not. Only 1 person running the bar and she was extremely slow and not at all customer service focused. They certainly lost bar business. Waiter was excellent but food was not up to par. My tomato risotto was delivered cold and had to be sent back, I literally had to ask is this a cold dish? Once heated it was just so so, probably not a good idea to reheat risotto and an odd mix of vegetables. My husband had the pork ragu, which he normally loves but this time was not well executed. Although we finished with plenty of time walk across the street to our seats, It will be awhile before we go back, especially on a theater evening. Too many other good restaurants (Il Ritrovo, Linos, Trattoria Stefano) in the area to have another disappointing experience at this one. read more

Our family went here yesterday for the first time since it opened. We had 10 people and a reservation. Most of us spent our youth and college years in hotel/restaurants so we have an awareness for quality food and decent customer service. We are also very patient for those who are learning, and for establishments to get their groove. The decor is classy, and branding is nice. The bartenders were courteous and professional. All the drinks were made well, and two us had bloody marys that were very tasty with and had impressive garbage selection. I had a chance to preview the menu online prior to arriving, and I appreciated the heads up from others on Yelp. We were shown to our table where two servers showed up promptly to inform us of the specials and we began to order. As a group we generally share some of our meals with other family members and we did this at the Black Pig as well. Two of us had the Cajun Mac. It was tasty and the portion's were decent. I personally found the texture a bit grainy. Ive had all kinds of delicious Mac and Cheese before, the grainy texture was a first for me. Others at the table noticed the same. The skinny fries and duck dine-esty fries were some of the best fries we have ever had.... hands down. I didn't try the Pork Sandwich but those that did said it was great. The egg rolls were also very good, the stuffed mushrooms were good and the special of day was also good. Two of our group had the tomato basil pasta, and both said it was cold and not that tasty. There was plenty of food to be shared so they chose to not send it back, and neither decided to take it home for leftovers. Our total time at the table was just over two hours. This surprised me that they would not want to turn the table faster and we were slightly discouraged by the amount of time that completed meals and empty dishes sat at the table. So with that I agree that their customer service can be improved. All and all I think the food is unique and tasty. Hopefully they can dial in the areas that they need improvement continue to strive for a 5 star rating. read more
