My mom and I stopped here for lunch on a recent visit to Port Washington. This was during the Fall Festival and the basement restaurant was a cool respite from the heat and crowds of the day. We were shown a quiet booth immediately by a nice woman and given cold water and menus. We ordered cocktails - both of which were refreshing. Mine was supposed to be neat, but came with a ton of ice, but it was a small inconvenience. Note - they do have a massive gin selection you can access via /QR code if that's your jam. I ordered the German Kasespatzle, their main vegetarian offering, $20.00 - Hand Made Spaetzle, Caramelized Onion, Roasted Carrot, and Mushrooms with Mozzarella and Gruyere Cheese. We got Bernie's Bacon on the side for $4 for my mom to eat with her half. She ordered the crab cake special, which we also shared, which was as the server promised, no filler. Overall, this was a nice meal and tasty. The Spaetzle was rich and luxurious, very much like my grandma used to make. The roasted carrot was a new addition for me, but not a bad one. The crab cakes were very good, but basically came with a bunch of shredded plain lettuce and nothing else. I'm glad we visited and I would come again if I was in town, but this is definitely a place that favors a meat eater.

We spend a lot of time in port Washington and never have been here! What a little hidden gem. When you first walk in, it gives speak easy vibes. The drinks offer homemade syrups and they are hand muddled... they were so good! The Reuben might be one of the best I've had. The bread was perfectly toasted and the ratio of thousand island dressing and horseradish with corned beef. My husband and son loved their fish fry! Our waitress was kind and offered suggestions for the menu. Can't wait to go back! Would def like to see more items on the menu for non-fish eaters though

We stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon and had the place to ourselves for a bit. The bartender was very friendly and helpful when looking through the menus. He talked about being a customer first and how much he loved and endorsed the menu. Theres just one tv at the bar which gives a nice calm atmosphere to the restaurant space and fits better with the theme. There's plenty f bar seating and tables towards the back and a wall of booths that feel very private. We split the German Kasespatzle which was essentially a very fancy German Mac n cheese and was an absolutely fantastic dish with a variety of flavors that blend perfectly together. The fried artichokes were a unique take on an appetizer and the lemon aoli was honestly incredible!

A great experience! Great atmosphere, great food. Cozy environment. Personable and attentive waitress. The Reuben and Admiral sandwiches we got were fantastic. The steak fries could have been a bit crispier. They make all sauces in house, we had the ranch and it was bussin'.

    I love a good rueben!

We popped in for lunch and had an excellent experience. First we debated if in fact the entrance off the parking lot was really the entrance but once we figured that out we made our way into the dining room. It was a weekday so it was not too busy. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming. We started with their fantastic focaccia bread. Wow - light and airy with a nice crust and just the right amount of salt. I ordered the hot ham sandwich. The ham was juicy, the bun super fresh and the sauce and cheese perfect. The Cole slaw was also very tasty with a nice zing. The others in the party split the goat cheese and beet sandwich - unusual but delicious. They also tried the spaetzle "Mac & Cheese" which got another thumbs up. Finally we finished with their chocolate pudding. We all agree that it had the texture of a mousse. Very good! We plan to return the next time we are in Port!

What a gem! We stopped for lunch based on positive reviews and were not let down. The Steerage is in a basement, not sure if there is ADA access. The dining area is small and cozy and there's a good sized bar too. They have quite a nice & creative cocktail list along with good wine and beer choices. I opted for a lovely cava and the mister had Guinness. Food wise, it's pretty such snacks and sandwiches (along with specials) but let me be clear - these people take food seriously! It's not slapped together lunch meat - this is locally made bread, home cooked proteins and fresh everything. I had a scotch egg made with Bernie's sausage - 10/10. Perfect texture and not oily at all. My Pilgrim sandwich - 15/10 because I love thanksgiving. This was actual turkey from a bird, not a loaf, served with stuffing and gravy. Husband had the pot roast sandwich (the uncle) which he said was great. Service was super - very knowledgeable. I would absolutely make an effort to come back here and honestly wish they were closer to home!!

saloon restaurant right off the main strip in port Washington, set downstairs in their basement (note! not sure if had an elevator so may not be easy access for anyone with mobility issues). at 6:30pm without a reservation we were pleased to see a lively restaurant but still had a table for two immediately. I was pleased with their drink menu with some specialty cocktails, beer and wine. dinner menu included some sandwiches (many of which made from local ingredients such as Bernie's meats), nice seafood options & many German inspired dishes. I haven't seen a cheesy spaetzle around WI in what feels like ever so I had to try! our waitress was right to describe it as adult Mac and cheese ... indulgent but still felt like it was made with good ingredients. my fiancé got clam chowder (fantastic) and a steak + sausage sandwich. not typically my type of food but I thought they did it well, and at an extremely fair price!!

Awesome! This place opened December 2020. I saw reviews in Yelp, checked out the menu, and saw some unique dishes. We were in town over the lunch hour so decided to give it a try and were were glad we did. This restaurant is located in the basement of a building so if you are handicapped or have trouble with stairs, you may have to make different plans. It is nicely decorated and has a quaint menu. I had the Susan B. Anthony sandwich which consisted of cooked Beets, whipped goats cheese, thinly slices of apple drizzled with honey. I loved it. I don't usually care for goats cheese but took a chance on this unusual sandwich and I am glad I did. The flavors blended together beautifully. You had the crunch from apple with a hint of sweet from honey. The bun was delicious too. My husband had the pilgrim which had Turkey, gravy, stuffing and a cranberry sauce spread. He enjoyed his sandwich on a delicious un also. We both had a bowl of the clam chowder. This was a creamy white sauce delicately seasoned and was something I was almost going to ask for a quart to go. It was awesome. We would like to go back and try other offerings off their me u for both lunch and dinner.

Proof of the $100 transaction for a gift certificate that has never been received.

My review is not about dining at this restaurant, it is about a gift certificate purchase in December 2022. I live in Indiana, and my parents live in Port Washington. I decided to contact a few restaurants out in Port Washington to purchase gift cards for my parents for Christmas. I called The Steerage Dining Saloon and spoke with Michael who stated he was the General Manager. I provided all my information for him to mail a gift certificate to my house in Indiana. I provided my credit card info and he ran everything on the phone with me. He stated he would put it in the mail, and I anxiously awaited its arrival. A week went by and nothing arrived in my mailbox from The Steerage Dining Saloon, so I decided to call again and inquire about the gift certificate. I again spoke with Michael and let him know that nothing had been received. He stated that he would send out another gift certificate and verified my address once again. Christmas Day arrived and no gift certificate. New Years arrived and still no gift certificate. The funny thing about this whole situation is that I received gift cards/certificates from other restaurants in Port Washington with no issues whatsoever!! Did I call the restaurant a third time, no I did not. I should not have to keep calling in hopes of receiving more false promises that I will be receiving the gift certificate I purchased. If you live outside of Port Washington, WI and want a gift certificate from this restaurant, I strongly suggest not to waste your time with The Steerage Dining Saloon because you will never get it!!

They have a very large selection of cheeses from Wisconsin, the US, and abroad, with lots of unique offerings. We tried a chicken soup Monterrey jack and a mustard Gouda, both of which we really enjoyed. The chicken soup cheese actually tastes like chicken broth from a rich soup, which was definitely a new experience. The room is decorated and bright, and felt like a great spot to stop on a Saturday afternoon. It's a nice change of pace from the usually-crowded bars through downtown Cedarburg. You should be aware that the tasting room apparently can't serve charcuterie boards themselves because of the class of license (maybe no food service cert.) but they're happy to help you enjoy any of the cheeses you purchased in the store and offer you some wine(s) to accompany them. The bartender graciously offered us some crackers to go with the plate and we were able to put together a satisfying little wine tasting experience! The one thing I would like to see is a few more wines on offer for the wine flights; at the time, they were a bit heavy on sweet white wines, which is just not my taste but may be popular in the area. They also have a cocktail list, beers, and their own brand of several liquors, so there are plenty of options. We will be back for a nice afternoon glass of wine and some cheese. It's also a good source of reasonably priced cheeses and wine if you want to have a picnic at the parks nearby.

Set inside a historic bed and breakfast, The Five20 Social Stop is like something you'd see in a Hallmark movie set in a sweet little town. So welcoming and inviting, we were immediately comfortable. The room is small with vintage rock/stone walls. The antique bar fits the room perfectly. Warm lighting with whimsical decor, the whole vibe is reminiscent of an antique lodge. There were just a few people enjoying the live music - a duo singing classic tunes. They sounded fantastic! Given we are in the middle of a pandemic I was surprised they offered live music and relieved everyone was spaced out. It was my friend's birthday so they sang Happy Birthday along with everyone in the entire pub! I later found out that the singer was one of the owners. The woman at the table across the way was his wife and was the other owner. This husband and wife duo could not have been more gracious and hospitable. I noticed that there was an air purifier right next to our table which made me feel a little better. I wasn't sure I wanted to socialize quite as much as we were doing, but it was my friend's birthday so we kept our masks on and enjoyed a few songs before we headed out.
