I wouldn't say the food is the best the French fires are good tho! And the cocktails are strong and are a decent size... I've had worse in Toledo. The service is good and the price is right. They do have TVs you can watch sports which is nice sometimes .. the booths are the place to sit tho I don't like the High tables they have.

Great experience had so much fun cooking our steaks on the stone, trying various sauces, sides were great and pricing was good. Waitress was also the bar tender but was super friendly and attentive. Sunday had great drink specials! We will return often!

A diamond in the rough! A cute little restaurant right at the entrance of the Franklin Mall in Toledo. Host stand was vacant first time we went in, but it was mid day and mostly empty, so they probably had made cuts early in. We decided to go back in, were seated quickly, and ordered the $8.99 soup and grilled cheese dipper special. It was more food than we thought and was really tasty for a mall restaurant! The fries were the star of the show, and the soup and grilled cheese were a little basic but nonetheless amazing and better with every bite! Our server was sweet and helpful, but a little quiet. Would love to eat here again and would recommend if you are shopping at Franklin!

I love Black Rock. I don't love this location. Each time I come its late afternoon/early evening. Not crowded. Sat at the bar each time. Appreciate the couple bucks off beer during happy hour. The ladies night specials on Tuesday start at 5. Says that nowhere on the flyer at the bar. Check my pics Here's where they get dumb. Big sign outside says half price appetizers n half price drinks if you sit on the patio. If you live around here you know we been in the 90s right now. There's minimal shade and no fans. 99% of spots have specials at the bar n patio area. Not here. Go cook on the patio or no special. The bartender was decent and gave me half off the app I got anyway cause I'm not going out there. There were maybe 8 folks throughout the whole restaurant and he acted like he was overwhelmed. Bringing our tabs at the bar when I just got my appetizer. When I told and showed him that it was oily n greasy as all heck he said that it made a good snack for later. Told him I love dry martinis and he said he wouldn't recommend. That means u don't know how to make a martini to me. He tries to steer me towards the sugary mixed drinks. If someone likes martinis why would u try to get them to drink that? Food and service at this location does not measure up to the Michigan locations.I've had sandwiches, lobster dip, spinach dip n my man did the cook your own steak deal. He refuses to come back to this location. Said it doesn't taste the same as the other locations. Check one of them out n let me know what u think.

Was not pleased with my experience. Ordered the apps, they were good...Waitress came to get the entree, my daughter tried to order the ribs and they didn't have it, so we asked for fillet...nope they were out....the place is nice but the need to do a better job of cleaning, wires hanging down from the tv's covered in dust, glass between the booths not clean....we won't be coming back

I love this place. Unfortunately today the womens restroom didn't have any soap(vide). The wait to be seated we short. We were greeted by our sever 18 minutes after we were seated. The wait for our food wasn't that bad. Great place, good drinks, fantastic food. Try the blueberry mojito

I'm 50/50 on this one. The lobster dip was good, but it wasn't significantly better than others I've had which doesn't make it worth the higher price for me. That being said the bread that came with it was delicious! It was crispy and we'll seasoned, and I would honestly take that as an appetizer by itself. My "Ghost Pepper Burger" was less spicy than a Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and the meat was under seasoned. My fries arrived cold, I was able to salvage them thanks to my fiance getting the steak on the black rock, but really? I have to heat up my "freshly" made fries? The steak on the black rock was okay, but not great, and it's purposefully not seasoned so you can do it yourself. If you're in the right mood that's great, just keep that in mind. The baked potato was a generous size and pretty good! The servers were all friendly and very attentive. Overall the biggest issue is the food just didn't live up to the price. I would def try it again but probably stick with a steak.

This restaurant definitely gets points for their flagship concept of cooking steaks on a superheated rock. Other than that, the food was pretty good overall. I had the "Dynamite Chicken", which had a great flavor and kick to it. The only real issue with my experience was that the French onion soup was too salty.

My mom taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all! But per usual I'm not heeding the advice. This was the WORST dining experience I've had in a long time! I can't remember the last time I left a one star review. Happy Birthday to me! And by the time we got serviced I was almost ready for my next one. No joke we waited 55 minutes to cook our own food. FIFTY-Five!!!! At one point the manager walks by our table and apologizes about the huuuuuuuuuuge delay. He noticed my free appetizer card and told me he'd take care of the appetizer and to save it for my next visit. There will NOT be a next visit, so if anyone wants a VIP card for an appetizer hit me up! If this is VIP service I'd hate to see how everyone else is treated. The sides we ordered were not complicated and were likely made in batch quantities, mac n cheese and a baked sweet potato and the other sides at the table were cream corn (tasted like it was fresh out of a tin can) and some French fries that were from frozen. For the life of me I can not figure out what took 55 minutes! Let me back up (slowly) to our appetizer, so when I order soft pretzels I'm thinking I'll be getting one of three things- traditional shaped pretzels or pretzel "breadsticks" or pretzel bites. These were cut up like a toddler's hotdog. And the waitress just dumped it off without explaining the hot rock concept. Glad I'm already familiar. That proceeded to sit there for 45 minutes of our 55 minute wait. And if you haven't been there please understand hot rock = hot sweaty dining experience. I get the rock should be hot to heat the food- but when the food is gone take the rock! My mom got a side of mushrooms in a red wine/burgundy sauce, but no way to deliver it from the hot rock to her plate since they never brought her a spoon. Anytime we needed anything we had to flag down a bus boy or a random server. Our actual waitress came for our appetizer and drink order then disappeared for 15 minutes before getting our dinner order. Final straw for me was having my steak cut by the waitress with it barely being cooked, I'm talking still completely raw on the side facing up. Anyone who knows anything about cooking steak knows it should NEVER be cut until it rests!!!! So I ended up with a dry piece of steak without my chosen creamy horseradish sauce because they messed up and brought me casino butter. Oh remember my raw steak that the waitress cut (without asking me)??? Yeah, she then handed it back to me to continue to use! Yep raw meat folks with the same utensils. Ughhhhh. Don't get me started. I actually opted not to eat my steak since I couldn't get clean cutlery. It's now sitting in a box waiting to be eaten. I also would have loved an opportunity to season my steak prior to the waitress starting the cooking process and cutting my meat like I'm a child. I hope you don't need handicap seating! The only options for seating are booths- no bueno with major mobility issues or high tops which are entirely impossible for someone with a broken femur and a cane. I don't anticipate this restaurant making it a whole lot longer. Toledo has a fantastic culinary scene and this place is just a messy spectacle. Don't expect it to compare to their Michigan location, because it doesn't even come close.

Food was good as always, staff was friendly and we enjoyed our night out. Would definitely come again any time. I recommend if you enjoy good food and fine service.

After visit #2, I'm not sure there will be a visit #3 anytime soon. The consensus among friends -- confirmed now by our own table -- is that everything is too heavy. The first few bites bring the oohs and the ahhs. By halfway through the plate, the ughs and the oofs begin. The menu reads as thoughtful and dialed in. Our table of four ordered very different entrees -- seafood, steak, pasta, salad -- and somehow every plate arrived at the same destination: rich, savory, dense. No acid. No brightness. And strangely, blue cheese and garlic had crept into every single bite, as if the kitchen could not bear to let a dish leave without them. A meal that should have pleased everyone left most of us with a mild remorse. I felt surprisingly ill for hours afterward -- not because anything was unsafe, not because it wasn't delicious, but because it was simply too much. Too rich. Too savory. The body, it turns out, asks for contrast, and we had not been given any. The service, on the other hand, is STILL outrageously good. Without question some of the best in the region -- better than nearly every higher-end room in town. But the atmosphere is stuffy, the food is one-note, and high quality is not the same thing as good execution. My wife's "medium plus" steak arrived extremely rare. My salmon was undercooked. At this price, that is inexcusable. Still -- the service. The service is something to behold.

I personally like to see it on paper so I can view ingredients but Im going with the flow. The service is a stand out here. Started with garlic bread bites. Server indicated there is a light blue cheese drizzle that they actually drizzle at the table. Neither of us are big fans of blue cheese and made sure to tell her when she started. She said its very mild n not overpowering. It was not mild n it was overpowering. I love love bread n I only ate one square. French onion soup was good per the man. I wanted the chicken special but when I said Ididn't care for peppers the server said she didn't recommend it then. Not sure why peppers couldn't be removed? but I took her advice and chose shrimp instead. Shrimp n mashed potatoes for me. Lamb chops n some type of potatoes for him. It was fine. At the price point($200 for 2) I was expecting more than fine. They did bring him a bday dessert but as she stated they don't sing happy birthday. Ok then. Stashed the leftovers in the car and went next door for beers n bday shots. More my speed. I would come back if its someone else's choice

To my surprise the parking lot is packed and there's nowhere to park. No signs or anything indicating you can park around the back as I found out later so I ended up parking in the lot next door. They only have a few chicken items on the menu. One chicken sandwich and one roasted chicken dinner. I got the chicken sandwich which is the Hyde park. This is the same exact sandwich I've gotten every time I've ever been here which is why I really haven't come back because there's not a lot of selection for me. The other reason is they got rid of the croissants on the menu LOL. The service was fast and friendly and there was about a medium sized crowd inside despite the parking lot being full. They have kind of a dark semi romantic atmosphere I guess they're going for. The chicken sandwich was nice and tender. I'm not a fan of the shoe string fries because they remind me of Steak and Shake and at this price point I think they should have some good fries here. They actually had a few craft beers on tap but I thought the cocktail prices were a little extreme at 15 plus. My girl got the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and the potatoes were ice cold so they lose a star for that. Other than that I have no complaints except that the pricing for lunch. $20 for a chicken sandwich is a bit much to me.
