I really like Black Rock Coffee. Every time I come here it is during the happy hour so I get an iced tea when it's hot or a latte when it's cold. So far everything I've ordered has been very tasty and well made. The service is good, I think I've gotten the same girl almost every time so that means she's happy working there. I've only gone through the drive thru so not really sure how it is in the lobby or if they even have one. I go to the location on Huebner Rd in Shavano Park and it doesn't look like it has an inside but again, I'm not sure. Either way, I love that they have a drive thru and the happy hour daily. I also signed up for the rewards program so hopefully that will pay off soon. read more

I ordered a matcha latte and basically received warm milk. Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here. My fiancé went through the drive thru on a 'Sticker Tuesday' early early in the morning and received a couple of mushroom stickers with our order from the very sweet barista. Though the stickers were cute, the lattes we received were abysmal. We each ordered a Matcha Latte, one hot and one iced, and made the terrible mistake of ordering larges. We ended up drinking them both since we don't like to waste drinks but it was a sucky experience. The hot latte was the 'better' of the two as you could taste more of the matcha, but the matcha concentrate was super low, like they were afraid to put the tea in at all. It was as if they didn't rinse out a tea cup and poured milk into it afterwards so that there was an aftertaste of matcha to the milk. The drink wasn't mixed properly either, as there was a huge chunk of the matcha at the bottom of my cup. We were greatly disappointed and were hoping for a little bit of an energy boost from the tea at the very least but it didn't happen, further proving how little matcha was in our MATCHA Lattes. Maybe the cute 'Sticker Tuesday' stickers cursed our matcha and our luck, but I don't think we will be returning to Black Rock Coffee Bar. read more

I ordered the caramel truffle chiller to go. The employees were very nice and kind. The drink was perfectly sweet. The it is a blended drink with an espresso shot, caramel sauce, and chocolate sauce.. The sauces balanced out the natural bitterness of the espresso. The drink was also very cute with the chocolate and caramel swirl. The location is very convenient and the drive-through moves pretty quickly. read more

We went to Black rock on Blanco Road in the morning about 830. I ordered a coffee for myself pastries for my grandkids and I asked for my coffee to be extra hot, if they could warm it in the steamer, the girl says I don't think we can do it but let me ask. She goes and says well we'll do it one time for you! So I got my coffee and went to sit down. The seat was dirty. I had to dust crumbs off, sit look at the table the table you could not even touch it. It was dirty everywhere and then I noticed there's homeless people in there charging their phones and stuff I guess. Then my daughter says let's go. I don't want the kids in here. It's too dirty and I said well let me go to the restroom. I went to the restroom. The bathroom was so nasty. There was diarrhea on the side of the toilet. The walls were dirty with hand marks and everything like it's never cleaned. So why so I ever go back to this place! I looked for a phone number for Customer Service. They don't even have that so I guess they don't want any communication at all from their customers.! read more

My wife and I decided to try Black Rock for the first time at the location on Huebner and NW Military after a doctors appointment for our little one. With it being a bit later on a weekday there was only one or two cars in line as we pulled up. After taking a look we ordered a Mexican Mocha and an Irish Creme coffee. The two ladies that were working were very nice and got our drinks out quickly. We both agreed that our drinks were very fresh and hot. Flavor wise they were both good, however the taste was a little muted and felt like it might have been a little light on the flavoring. Overall it was a good experience and we are definitely open to trying a few other drinks out with Black Rock. We have tried them on the opening day where they were serving free coffee all day. We have seen this place before and we're just wondering why was this place so empty. We came to know it just opened. The employees were nice and friendly. We tried the iced caramel Blondie -4/5 which was fine. Hot caramel Truffle - 4.5/5 this was also good. First off let's just give a round of applause for the presentation of this fine beverage. No one's going to put a damper on that. Literally smiled even I saw it with painkiller by Judas Priest playing. I got the blackout (warm) for my first trip here in a small. The woman taking my order and actually asked me if their 12oz small was enough. Points for knowing your oz count for your sizes. The drink was delicious! Think chocolate with a pinch of cinnamon. Size was definitely enough for my day. Wasn't in line but a max of maybe 5 minutes. Service was polite and insightful. Thanks y'all! I have to try this place again.It's on my way to work and I wanted to get a coffee this morning.Definitely needed one. It was one of those days.. .I would pass by thinking this was similar to black rifle, but they are totally different companies. Went through the drive through.I think the young lady was new because she told me.They did not have medium blend coffee that they only had expresso. Took me by surprise but soon someone corrected her and I went with the spring blend with splenda and some cream. 3 bucks for a regular cup of coffee.There's a little steep but I guess with inflation an idiot.As president and high interest rates explains it. Happy to say the coffee was great and the people at the window were very friendly and lots of smiles and seemed pretty normal. .Nothing like driving up to a coffee, stand at 6 in the morning and a guy with earrings coming out of his nose ears and eyelids with purple green and Orange hair saying good morning. I like the fact that it was normal, quick and pleasant. And the coffee, well. It had great flavor. I'm gonna have to come back and try some different flavors. I first tried Black Rock in Austin and was so excited to see they had a drive thru location in San Antonio/Shavano Park area. This is a drive thru/walk-in place so you can't sit and enjoy the coffee. I would recommend doing drive thru instead of walk-in because there's usually one person managing the location and it can take a while to get your order in. You can go sweet or classic and their food and pasty menu is great. read more

First time trying Black Rock Coffee Bar (on Huebner in San Antonio). I ordered a medium hot drip coffee. Coffee was hot, flavorful and full bodied. Similar to s'bucks house blend, but not as "burnt" tasting. I enjoyed it. Also ordered a pastry - wanted to try the poppy seed scone, but they were out. Ended up with a pecan cinnamon cake muffin. Very moist with a crumb topping and served warm. I was surprised at how good it was. Again, I will compare to s'bucks pastries and this tasted much fresher, so kudos on the fresh baked goods! I'm hoping one day Black Rock offers croissants and/or fresh cake donuts - they go so well with hot coffee. The outside order taker at drive-thru was really friendly and asked me if I wanted to be a member of the rewards program. Haven't checked out the benefits, but I believe you earn points towards rewards. I would like to see Black Rock offer senior discounts...that would be awesome! read more

I love the coffee but this company needs to get it together. I receive rewards and twice I had a $2 off any coffee. I show up, the barista says she doesn't see the coupon in the system (even though I have it also on my phone) and there's nothing she can do. Also, the manage is supposedly never there. I feel tricked, it's as if they send me the coupon to pull me in to buy coffee. I sent a message to customer support and got no response. $6 coffee isn't cheap and then to be fooled makes me not want to get coffee from here anymore. I hope they figure out their system because it's good coffee with a frustrating company. read more
