Had a great time eating dinner here with my daughter this evening. We were craving some pizza and decided on this place because it was right on the waterfront. We were not disappointed. Think twice before falling for the advertising at Black Sheep. The "local food" "each meal prepared individually" come on is not exactly true. Our party ordered salads and the pita (which was advertised as having a variety of vegetables but only had one). Despite differing orders, every meal was the same preparation: a plate of arugula -- probably from the local Publix -- and a few canned pickled beets. Even shortly after opening the place was out of many items from the menu. It took almost an hour for the kitchen to prepare the five plates of arugula. Service is pleasant but very slow. The only reason I give two stars is the nice seating area by the water. read more

Went there yesterday. Been there several times. Beer and wine were average price. Good selection for the most part. Pizza was nothing spectacular for the price. Although pizza is their specialty, ours was lacking or skimpy on ingredients. Example is the pizza may have had 8 pieces if sausage.. .short on cheese...Menu is limited....would be nice to include burgers and fish baskets. The staff was very friendly and they constantly checked up on us to make sure everyone was happy. The wait was pretty long even though it was around five pm and we were the only customers. The chicken caesar salad tasted very fishy and the croutons were very stale, definitely didn't seem fresh. The pizza had six slices and for the price it seemed a little underwhelming. Beautiful location. Shaded outside dining porch. Then...the waitress got 2 of 3 orders wrong. The worst was an order for their crabcake salad. The waitress brought a bare crabcake...didn't even see that on the menu. She's tried to correct by bringing a side plate with some greens....not nearly what is described by the menu. THEN the bill arrives with the full $15 charge for the crabcake salad. Sure they were busy but there is no excuse for charging the whole price. Went with my husband for dinner. His pizza was good. I ordered the veggie pita and it was really good. Fries were homemade. Service was good. The chocolate cakes, while a bit on the pricey side, were awesome. And they were huge pieces. Will definitely go back. read more

Beaufort has given us the worst service of the whole vacation. We came in last night at 9:38 craving pizza after our touristy ghost tour. Everything in Beaufort seems to close at 10, and we understood that it was close to closing time, and saw that no one was in the dining room but several were at the bar, we said if it's too late we could take out, but the host said, no no have a seat, so we did. Now I've worked in the service industry and waited tables many years but 20 min before closing you are still open. I went to the restroom that's doors had a cool Salvador Dali portrait, and when I returned and sat down, my boyfriend was facing the server and dining room and my back was to the server. Apparently our waitress was having a tantrum because she had to wait on us. She was going this right in my boyfriends line of vision. We were appalled and decided we've had enough of Beaufort's non hospitality and left. Clearly we were not welcome. We walked past our server and said no thank you, good night and she totally ignored us. Wtf Beaufort?! Everything closes early and you don't like customers. We didn't eat here so I can't speak to the food, only the poor attitude we received. Go to Lorettas in Morehead. They were awesome. read more

Great addition to the Beaufort dining scene. Went today for lunch and enjoyed it immensely. Ordered the burrata and mixed green salad as appetizers. Both delicious. We had 2 pizzas, the pepperoni and the Wenny. The Wenny was yummy, covered in arugula and a great variety of mushrooms. Bloody Mary to go along with was perfect combination. This was our 1st time to Black Sheep after dining at most of the other waterfront places in Beaufort. We had no wait on a Thursday night, with a party of 9. Yes, it was a bit early, just before 6pm. Pizza choices had something for everyone, even kids, although a kids pizza isn't on the menu, they do make a slightly smaller plain cheese or pepperoni version if you ask. Burrata app was delish, and we ordered several of the specialty pizzas, all good! Waitress was great and attentive (although it wasn't busy). Since my previous review we have returned to Black Sheep several times and tonight I became aware that they not only treat their patrons with care but the environment as well. I generally don't post reviews but I do read them so I thought it only fair to share our experience. We were excited to have a new restaurant in town with oven fired pizza. We ordered a pizza and salad to come before the pizza. The salad came after the pizza and the pizza we got was the one the waitress liked and not the one we chose. The drink was incorrect and the waitress never really stopped to ask if we needed anything but did what seemed to be a drive by. I was going to let it slide but a comment from the waitress about how much we liked the pizza did the trick. In addition to getting the wrong food and not in the order we asked it also took 20 minutes. We were too hungry to wait for another. And it was ok, just not the one we wanted. So the manager was very nice and comped our meal. We haven't been back. Queen Anne's revenge is right next to Black Sheep with a beautiful view of the water and they have great pizza (and a more varied menu) and good service! read more
