If you are looking for a real deal, OG, family style diner, Kitty's Homestyle Cafe is it. You cannot get more authentic than this. The food is good, the staff is friendly, the portions are big, and Kitty herself watches over the place like a hawk. You can tell she takes pride in what she has built and wants every guest to leave happy and satisfied. There is legacy in that building. I sat at the bar and the ladies took care of me right away. I ordered country fried steak, over easy eggs, hash browns, toast, and biscuits with gravy. Yes, I can eat. I love breakfast. When they saw I was pouring gravy over my biscuits and country fried steak, they came by and filled me right back up without me even asking. I probably did not need more, but they saw I was low and topped me off anyway. My coffee cup never went empty. The portions are big. I knew things were bigger in Texas, but this place really showed up. And if you meet Mrs. Kitty, be polite. She does not hold back. She is the type of woman who wears her heart on her sleeve and tells you exactly how it is. I respect that. There is something refreshing about someone who is real and unapologetically themselves. I really wanted to like this mom and pop café--it's a cute little spot and definitely feels like the kind of place locals go regularly. But unfortunately, my experience just wasn't it. Right from the start, things felt off. As my son and I were walking in, a man (not an employee) was leaving and basically barked at us with an irritated "just come in" while holding the door. Not the café's fault directly, but it set a weird tone. We joined our friends and were greeted by a super sweet waitress, which gave me a bit of hope. But then a different waitress came to take our order and she couldn't have looked more annoyed. No greeting, just an eye roll and a face full of attitude. It felt uncomfortable and honestly a little personal. I don't want to assume anything, but the way my friend and I were treated felt very different from how other tables were being treated, and that made it hard to enjoy our time there. As for the food, it was hit or miss. The eggs and hash browns were good, but the ham and bacon were way too salty. Just didn't feel worth it. All in all, I won't be returning. Between the uneven service, the food, and the overall vibe, it just didn't leave a good impression. Giving it 2 stars only because the place is cute and one waitress was kind. read more

As for the cook putting out food, been waiting 30 minutes and still no food...WTF! Finally arrived and all I can say is it isn't bad but not mom's home cooking. Hash house grub at its finest. Place is noisy and no Denny's but overall I give it 3 stars because in reality it has the atmosphere and ambience of a down home breakfast joint that's not for everyone....food was good and hot just slow! Although the waitresses were really nice and the other customers inside were clearly regulars, there wasn't anything special here. The menu items are pretty cheap, so I ordered a few things in attempt to try as much as possible. My waitress made multiple comments about me not going to be able to eat it all, which is true, but leave me be please. It started to make me uncomfortable. The food itself only took a few minutes to come out, which was impressive. The pancakes were definitely the best part of the meal. The biscuits were lacking. The gravy was not good. If I were to go again, I would only order pancakes and maybe a couple of eggs, but I don't see myself coming back here. read more

The food at this place is not good at all. it is super oily, tasteless, raw or burnt. Stopped for breakfast with my boys and they didn't have a kiddo drinks. No chocolate or juice. The waitress offered tea for breakfast I ordered eggs and sausage that were both served raw. Nobody ever came back to check on us after food was served. I've been in the area for a few years and have never tried this place. My husband finally convinced me to stop by. We didn't order anything out of the ordinary. Omelette, pancakes, hash browns and fried eggs. We also had an order of biscuits and gravy. That was probably my least favorite. The gravy was salty and the biscuits were not what I am used to in a biscuit. They were very dense and lacking flavor. Everything else was just alright. My husband, on the other hand, loved it and can't wait to go back (he can write his own review!). At the end, I think you will either love it or hate it. We called and ordered our food over 45 mins ago for pickup. We are currently here still waiting for our food. We have tried this place multiple times in the oast year and every time the customer service is poor, food is mediocre at best, and the wait time to get our food to-go is atrocious. Been here a few times. Service is normally very slow this was not the case this morning. Staff was attentive and friendly and food was cooked perfectly. I ordered the country boy breakfast which has 3 eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage with a side iif toast(normally a biscuit with gravy). To drink I ordered unsweet iced tea. It was delicious and i cleaned my plate. Also of note: they have a children's library for your kids to read while visiting. Also they offer craft sodas. Biscuits and gravy are a meal unto themselves but I had the works and it was all excellent. But lunch is the topper. We went for the last two Fridays for shrimp and then catfish.
