    Blackbeard's Seafood Queso
    Stacey J.

I would say that I wasn't sure I wanted to try it based on reviews. However, the seafood queso and the Blackbeard fish taco were fantastic. The chicken tortilla soup was a little spicy but overall, the price and food were excellent. I would say that if you're in a hurry, this might not be your spot. But I wanted the experience. (10/10 try the queso)

Not a lot to add over my last review. Friendly attentive servers, very reasonable prices, and good food. Inside is very eclectic and unique. My mixed fajita combo plate was only$15! A nice spot to eat just across the street from my hotel.

Some friends had indicated that this was a place they'd like to go as we were making our way home from a weekend conference in Corpus Christi. I was part of a carpool, so I was going to be going regardless. Like my wife, I kind of had low expectations of the place, but we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a bit weird-- they're leaning into a bit of a pirate vibe, but its a very kitschy attempt. In a sense, it builds a "hole in the wall" type of atmosphere that works for some people, but doesn't really inspire much confidence for a seafood restaurant when you first walk in. Maybe that's why it was empty when we came by? Everyone ordered something different and we all seemed happy with what we received. It's really one of those places where nothing on the menu is going to be the "best you've ever had" but everything on the menu is good. I opted for the coconut shrimp basket with potato salad while my wife went with the fried fish basket with french fries. The portions were huge for the price, and very filling. The waitress disappeared at two different points, including when we needed the check, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we'll probably be back in future.

This place is okay, but it definitely has its perks. You get a lot of food for the price, and the prices are really affordable. The food quality isn't the highest, but it gets the job done--especially if you're just looking for something filling without spending much. It's also a nice spot for bigger groups since they play live music, which adds to the atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Overall, I'd go back if I'm in the mood for cheap eats with large portions.

The food is delicious, and reasonably priced. The service is fast. Waitress is friendly. Nice ambiance: soft music. While it says "on the beach", there is the DoubleTree by Hilton between the restaurant and the beach.

If you're looking for fried seafood on your trip-this is the place to go! We came to Blackbeards for lunch after our stop at the aquarium and were left stuffed and so happy!! The ambiance is super cool, event for kiddos. We ordered a combo basket of catfish and coconut shrimp that was to die for! Great potato salad, great fish tacos, and the delicious cocktail sauce. It was fresh, garlicky, and a little spice to it. Their calamari and sauce was also super fresh and a great little snack. Overall we are super satisfied.

Well known Texas coastal establishment. We arrived on a Saturday evening and didn't have long of a wait. We put our name on a list and was called 20 minutes later. Our server was great... friendly and helpful. We ordered calamari, seafood queso, seafood salad, catfish basket and diablo pasta. Pros: Good service. Food was good. Shrimp was great. Not a long wait. Lively Casual Live music Cons: I prefer calamari with a mixture of rings and tentacles so the calamari was not my favorite. Food was good, not great. Lively Live music Overall, a nice visit to a local establishment with live music, drinks and good food.

First timers in Corpus Christi we were unsure what to expect. We had this establishment recommended by uber drivers twice and being as our AirBnB was right by it we simply had to try it. When first walking in you are greeted by a mixture of dive bar and pirate mixture. A very fun welcome if I do say so myself. It is nothing short of something you have to have an open mind to appreciate. The atmosphere was amazing however, we were also greeted with live music! We started our meal with the calamari, a nice mix of rings and legs! The marinara was a very good fit not too sweet and not too acidic (especially with the lemon). We also decided to do the margarita flight. LtoR (strawberry, cherry, raspberry, curuçao) they were very delicious but drinker beware as they are strong. Sharing this with someone else is ideal unless you wish to not remember your experience here! Moving to the main dish, I got the market fish (trout) and had it blackened (of course) I am a connoisseur of coleslaw so I had to try it and the potato salad sounded like a good pair. The fish was delicious, well seasoned, and perfectly blackened. The lemon was just enough to make it pop. I still have no idea what the spicy sauce that it came with is but it knocked my socks off. The coleslaw was average overall but a good pair with the fish. The potato salad was fantastic however, is is mustardy but has a beautiful creamy texture with an addicting sweet yellow mustard taste that leaves you wanting more. Overall I give Blackbeards 5 . We will be back for more and I suggest you try it as well!

It's a quaint space that obviously has history with a dive vibe. I had attentive care and watched other tables review the same. There was live music during my meal. My tuna was delicious. Would go again.

We love to find restaurants that are off the beaten trail. Blackbeard's should have a trail right to it. The fun atmosphere and location off North Beach adds a fun experience. The staff were fabulous and every recommendation that our wonderful waitress suggested was spot on. We had a mix of fish tacos, fried fish, and on the recommendation, I had the blackened catfish. Man it was delicious. Some of the best seasoning and catfish I've had. It was worth our drive e down from San Antonio.

The food is pretty good, service was fine, especially with how many people were there, and there was some pretty nice live music. Definitely go if in the area!

Visiting for a conference in Corpus. I just searched some local fare for good food, cool vibes, and maybe an ocean view! Blackbeards on the Beach is quite deceiving. It's not on the beach nor can you see the water. It's a dive bar. It looks like a pirate themed Mexican restaurant or refurbished Denny's. I'm sure it's cool when there's live music and the like, but this is a dark and dank dive bar. I didn't eat here so no comment on the food but the atmosphere left more to be desired. Their signature Grog was good but waaaay overpriced. Blackbeard's needs a facelift! ‍

Shrimp sampler with coleslaw, YUM! After a day by the pool at the Doubletree Corpus my husband walked across the parking lot to order to go. The 6 deep fried shrimp were huge & filled me up with the coleslaw. My husband enjoyed the Cajun & cold peel & eat.

Is it closed forever, if so I'm absolutely heartbroken?

They were open a month ago and spectacular, and there's no mention of closure on yelp.

    Do they serve calamari steak?

I wish we still did! This was a favorite of my late husband's, but we removed it from the menu some years ago. We do have fried calamari on our appetizer menu.

In the end we're appalled that there were such bad reviews. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their brewery and a chalkboard with their current drinks on tap! We were seated immediately and pleased with the ambiance off the bat. I got the cerveza de la flor and my S/O got the sparkling kiss. I was impressed by the beer and she was very happy with her drink! We started with the ceviche fusion and we were skeptical at first. It is delicious on its own however the kitchen did not salt or pepper it seemingly at all. So in order to truly enjoy it you must be bold and salt/pepper it yourself. It brought the ceviche to life and made everything pop. Very good choice for an appetizer. For our main dishes I she got the Bang-Bang shrimp pasta. You are greeted with a half pound of popcorn shrimp covered in a delectable spicy sauce that pairs so nicely with the pasta. It is very filling so you will have leftovers (unless you've eaten nothing all day of course). I got the Crawfish Étoufée and I was very pleased. It came with 2 sides (broccoli slaw and maque choux) and both were good pairings. The broccoli slaw was tasty and I was very happy with how sweet and savory it was. The maque choux paired amazingly with the étouffée. So well in fact that I mixed the 2 dishes. There is so much value in what you get and we went home with full bellies and plenty of leftovers for the next day! We highly recommend Railroad Brewery!

We started with the grapefruit, avocado and arugula salad with feta--fresh, bright and absolutely delicious. Then came the smoked snapper dip, followed by the drunken clams with Akaushi sausage. OMG. The clams were served in an incredible white wine, garlic, smoky, savory broth with crusty bread to soak up every last drop. There was absolutely no leaving that broth behind. Then came the branzino. Flame-grilled with fire-roasted red pepper and garnished with Italian chimichurri. Absolutely phenomenal. Beautifully prepared, full of flavor and one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. In fact, about halfway through dinner, the table next to us interrupted to ask what we had ordered because everything looked so good--and, apparently, our very obvious food orgasm while eating caught their attention. The service was amazing. (Holden was great) The bartenders and servers were attentive throughout the evening, the drinks were great, and the wine was good. I would love to see the wine list expanded a bit with more options, but that is truly a minor suggestion compared with the overall experience. And then there's the atmosphere. Wonderful. Sitting right on the water overlooking the bay while enjoying an incredible meal made the entire experience even better. This is what dining out should be: incredible food, thoughtful flavors, attentive service, great drinks and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. I will be dreaming about this meal--and probably drooling while doing so. Truly, one of the best meals I've ever had. Five stars doesn't feel like enough. We will absolutely be back.

Now for the food review: 1. The oysters were amazing. 2. The Yellow Curry Shrimp with the plantains was our favorite dish. 3. The short ribs were a let down. The meat was really soft but it was so dry. We couldn't even finish it. (We wished we would have just both ordered th yellow curry shrimp) 4. The truffle fries were good but get the 1/2 order if your 2 because the serving size is a lot. 5. Banana Bread Pudding was the best thing.
