Iced Coffee Unicorn "number" for our sandwiches

A true Valpo staple. Has always had the most cozy atmosphere and sweet staff. Outdoor seating in the summer is always the best. Simple menu but still has plenty of favorites for everybody who may stop in. We also got food but were too hungry to take pics- I got the BLT with a bite, delicious fresh pretzel roll and loved the chipotle sauce. A wonderful small lunch!

Fun cafe in a great, central location. We stopped by for a quick lunch and were so impressed by the menu. Both sandwiches we had were delicious! The BLT with a bite was delicious and the turkey avocado panini hit the spot! The ingredients were fresh & the breads were delicious! A cool spot to study, catch up with a friend, or have meal.

Egg, sausage, and provolone croissant (5 stars)

I've been eating scones from Blackbird Cafe for years. After branching out to the breakfast sandwiches I realized I hadn't written a review. The cinnamon scone is delicious! The dough is consistently cooked through and tender. A generous portion of a cinnamon mixture covers the entire middle layer of the scone. I also ordered the egg and meat croissant breakfast sandwich with provolone. The egg was tender and the sausage was flavorful. I appreciate that the croissant was warmed too. This is a great cafe that has been around for years. If they don't have the cinnamon scone, I usually enjoy another flavor, yet long for the cinnamon to appear on the menu.

Blackbird Cafe warmed my heart with its simple and homey couches, decors, and very affordable breakfast sandwiches. The place was joyfully packed with locals on a Sunday afternoon. My friends and I each got a breakfast item to satisfy our hungry tummy. I opted for the breakfast egg sandwich that was actually a wrap with 2 scrambled eggs and an additional sausage. It was simple and warm. For a small cafe, Blackbird makes a geniune effort to customize their items to its customers' liking, which I greatly appreciate. The cafe also offers more exciting options and drinks like the apple pie chai latte, which my friend got. Everything about the place was cute. I can see people, including myself, spending endless hours at the cafe drinking coffee and reading or chatting with friends.

Still amazing. Their collection of flavored syrups has been drastically reduced, which saddens me. However I had an AMAZING grilled cheese today for lunch (Gouda, cream cheese, avocado, bacon). They still have some very unique specialty drinks, a god tea selection, and pretty good coffee blends. Blackbird has a great ambiance, though it is often packed with people. It is my first choice for catching up with local friends, as there seems to be something to please everyone.

Good food and creative but service is super slow. Great baked goods and servers are friendly.

I used to love going here for my lunch breaks when I worked in Valpo. They make some of the best sandwiches!

Great coffee, hipster/new-age menu, and a prime location. Many of my mornings began here at Blackbird.

I wish I had had time to browse and pretend I read more than Lord of the Rings every two years. Could complain it's tiny, but duh, no one wants a Barns and Noble next to the courthouse, pint perfect size however please don't bring more than two kids. I wish I could've tried the whole menu too, need flights please! Did go for a cereal milk latte that tingled good vibes and set off spring tide for my trip back to Lafayette.

There are two doors and a step in between, and even I had to maneuver my way in and out. Just an FYI. The Press has a coffee shop inside of it. How nice! I didn't partake because the line was long, but the coffee smelled amazing. What a pleasant thing to be a bookstore that's also a coffee shop. There are some cozy couches and tables here and there among the stacks of books. I suppose you could take your cup of coffee and curl up on a couch or chair, because I saw one person doing that. But mostly: This is a bookstore, not so much a coffee shop or place to lounge. So I wouldn't visit with the intention of posting up and working for a few hours. This doesn't seem like that kind of place. Again, it's a bookstore first, a coffee shop second, a place to lounge third. Although The Press is a small bookstore, it has a nice children's section, with lots of books for kids and even graphic novels (my personal favorite). There is something for everyone here.
