Went here twice in the past week since I'm in town and met friends here both times. First time: So the Cali burger was phenomenal. Great flavor, cooked right, good size portion. The fries were excellent as well. Service was good and friendly. We Sat in the bar area and you could tell our waitress was a bit overwhelmed w how busy it was but she did a good job handling it. Prices were good as well. Nothing crazy. Second time: the balboa was lacking punch. My friend got the same as I did and actually sent it back for the bama chicken sandwich which he said was much better. The balboa was just small and not much to it. I wasn't impressed unfortunately. Fries were still good. I'd give it a 2/5 this time. It's a neat place and seems to stay busy. In the end, I'll stick w their burgers if I come back. read more

Decent place for sporting enthusiasts. Baseball and ESPN was on every telly (except one showing ChiveTV). Took in the start of the NBA Finals after late night happy hour. Prices weren't too bad and a few select H.H. bites available ($5.99/ea or all 5 for $25). Liquor is standard and surprisingly, Tito's is on tap here. Large clean space, small patio out front. We came here on a weeknight before a show and we had a good experience. Our server was very pleasant, although we do wish we had a little more attention, but I don't blamer her. They were very busy and had less staff than they probably should have at that time. I tried their hibiscus paloma which was good, and their peach sangria which I would recommend. The deviled eggs are funny because they were deep fried, and I wasn't a big fan, but my spouse like them. I enjoye the BLT chicken tacos. I would say if you are passing by and would like a quick beer, this is your spot. We had the intention of going here for dinner, but started with a couple drinks and appetizer. Sat at the bar but the bartenders seemed a little put off that they had to serve us, or people in general. My wife's drinks that was a twisted ice tea, tasted watered down. Order the queso dip. The actual time the food hit the table after we ordered was fairly quick surprisingly (party of 9). The calamari was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Waitress Krystal was pretty quick and consistent. Fumbled a few times on the check but eventually got it right. And they charge a convenience fee when you use a card which is very surprising. Understaffed and unprepared. We sat in the bar area, as it was open seating and less crowded than the dining room. We picked wrong. We waited 5-10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. Then, it was another 30-40 minutes to get our food. The kitchen staff missed a main ingredient in my husbands meal and when I asked for Parmesan cheese, the food runner didn't know what it was. We are now sitting here, having been finished with our food for 15 minutes- no water or drink refills and have not been checked on. There were even people complaining at the bar that their food was taking too long. This is no fault of the server, as he is very attentive to all of his tables and the full bar. There needs to be another 1-2 servers in this area. The manager finally came to take our plates and give us the check. On the way out, we saw the same man smoking a cigarette outside (while the wait staff needed extra help) with one of the customers who disrupted other individuals at the bar and was yelling at a staff member. They even charge a credit card processing fee... Maybe would've been a better experience if it was less busy. read more

We had a reservation and the hostess was very rude, which was a sour note to start on - hung over the whole dinner. Decent beer selection. Our server was decent but disappeared after our food was delivered. Wife and I both had the tacos which were good. One kid had the grilled cheese and liked one had the flatbread and was meh about it. I'm just going to start this review with full honesty and acknowledgement of being a total tourist during my visit to Blackfinn! My husband and I visited DC for the weekend and wanted to go to a local bar that Congress people have been known to patronize. Quick google search and found that John Boehner used to go here when he was Speaker. So we rode a couple of the scooters here from our hotel in DuPont circle! We arrived around 7:30 on Saturday evening and the place was totally dead. We decided to sit outside. They have a nice outside patio area in front. Our server came over right away with waters and took our drink order. We both ordered a draft beer. They have a decent drink menu with reasonable prices! Our drafts were $6, which isn't bad at all in DC! The menu is very American- burgers, wings, nachos, salad, etc. Both my husband and I thought the fried buffalo chicken sandwich sounded amazing, so we ordered 2. Our food came out quickly! The sandwich was SOO good! The chicken patty fit past the edges around the entire bun, it was crispy, and sauced perfectly! The Buffalo sauce was classic and had just the right amount of heat! The French fries that came with were also top notch! Crispy, not overly greasy, and well seasoned! But the absolute STAR of the meal was the ranch dressing that came with! It was that homemade ranch that you can find just about anywhere in the Midwest! The East Coast doesn't know how to do ranch, but blackfinn does! I was seriously overheated when we sat down to cool off, rehydrate and grab a bite -- the place was cool, dark and comfy. Our server kept the drinks and water coming, and was quick and efficient even though we weren't in a rush -- no laziness in evidence anywhere. There was a slight oops with my salad -- they took the price of the whole thing off our bill. (Salad wasn't bad regardless.) Five-star customer service! First things first, the food was not bad. It was average bar food that you would expect. However, the service was awful. The food took 45 minutes to get to our table. Because of this another customer at the bar was yelling at the bartender the whole time. We never got a refill on any sort of drink and was left thirsty throughout our entire meal. Came here for a work lunch. The restaurant was empty when we walked in, but by the time we left, it was PACKED. We started with the shrimp/crap dip. DELICIOUS. Minimal crab, but lots of shrimp. I ordered the garlic linguine. Very tasty and very garlicky. Probably some of the best linguine I've had in a while. My coworker ordered the same thing and we both were completely stuffed. You will be ignored. Sit near the tops at the back of the bar near cash registers...where you are forced to make eye contact with the servers --the proximity will get you service, sitting near the front doors, will get you ignored, hungry and thirsty. Fist time coming to Blackfinn. Came here for a brunch with about 8 ladies. Our waitress was very attentive which I loved considering our group was a little bigger. The atmosphere gave a sports bar/pub vibe but on the upper scale. I ordered here the Chicken & Waffles. The food didn't take much longer than a normal wait for food. It was the last thing to come out for our table but I took that as a result of the chicken. The chicken was very flavorful. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I also purchased the bottomless mimosas ($13), price not bad if you ask me. Especially when you can easy pay $18-$20 or more anywhere else. However, I did find that the Mimosas were a little watered down. The refills were far from a full pour. This was a little disappointing but the turnaround for the refills kinda made up for it. The taste did improve as new refills came. Although the Mimosa situation could've been improved I would definitely visit here again. My overall experience here was great. read more

Ordered bacon and brussels sprouts as a side, a cocktail that was either "the cucumber cooler" or "the cucumber refresher", and their lemon chicken entrée. The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were lovely. The group I was with sat outside, and we were there for a couple hours. It was sunny when we first arrived, and we didn't plan for it to get cooler as the shade increased, so it was a bit nippy. But we were able to comfortably seat around 14 folks. Great spot! Super friendly staff and great menu choices ranging from vegan, gluten-free and healthy (goat cheese/beet/berry salad) to satisfyingly greasy pub fare (sliders and fried). Everything was very tasty and fresh (I ordered the salad mentioned above, my friend got the chicken avocado salad) and waitstaff was appropriately attentive without hovering. Street parking is available as well a garage directly next door and another right across the street. I have been here a handful of times and I am never disappointed. My initial draw to this place is the fact that it is a KC Chiefs bar. Game days are by far the best! Lots of team spirit and decorations. They have the volume of the game up high enough that you can actually hear the game sounds and the commentary, which is nice. The food here is great too! Most recently, I ordered the Southern BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos. There was the perfect amount of ingredients to chip ratio and they were not shy about the amount of meat they provided. Whiskey smash & Fish tacos . After walking the mall and checking out the Black Lives Matter plaza i stumbled upon this restaurant. SOCIAL DISTANCING IS IN PLACE HERE!!!! The bartender was our server and my drink was really good (I'd even say perfect ) and so was the food. Added hot sauce and Tabasco sauce of course. I like the contact less checkout. I've been here a few times over the past couple of years but the bar service this weekend was awful. I went for the Halloween bar crawl So I understand ordering a drink might take a bit longer, especially since blackfinn is a check in spot. HOWEVER, the bartender dressed up as Barbie was a extremely rude to my entire group. We tried ordering all our drinks as once (group of 5) to make it easier and but she said no one at a time, then ignored half the group, she also messed up on of the orders and gave my friend an attitude. She also left for 10-15minutes when only half of us had our drinks. Also I do want to give a bit of grace since the bar only had 3 bartenders up front but the attitude wasn't needed. read more

Nope. I arrived in town very late, traveling from the west coast. Most restaurants near my hotel had closed for the night, but this was still open. I sat at the bar and ordered, and almost immediately smelled something. I wasn't sure what was going on, but it was terrible. I assumed it might be the whole place. Some other people came and sat adjacent to me, and they also noticed it. It was bad enough that I ended up moving to sit at another table. I will give them kudos and one extra star for stocking non-alcoholic beer. I wanted to be able to sleep that evening, and NA beer is a strategy I occasionally use. Good for them. read more
