    Chicken sandwich
    Rebecca H.

I enjoyed the food here. The chicken sandwich was crispy and delicious and I liked that they provided a lot of dipping sauces for the fries and sandwich. The cocktail was great too. This bar is in a hotel and has a nice, causal ambiance. The bartenders were friendly and helpful.

It is a sports bar in a hotel. You have a captured audience. The drinks were good, the beer was cold. It was a good spot to connect and network with colleagues.

Had dinner with a good friend that was staying at the hotel. It was cold outside and we just decided to eat in the hotel. It was a Friday night and it was really busy. It took a while for our server to come by and get our drink and food order. I got a beer (one that our waiter recommended) and the Classic Double Smash Burger. Both the beer and burger were good. Would I go out of my way to go here ever again...probably not. Overall just ok.

This is a nice restaurant/bar in the hotel lobby. The drinks average 17-20 dollars. Staff are friendly and the environment is welcoming. The place is clean. I quite enjoyed all my drinks and they came strong. Will return when I am back and recommend.

    Decent turkey club

We came here a few times while staying at the Washington Hilton and it was a pretty good bar overall. We had drinks twice and their pours were very generous. We had an amazing bartender as well and Darrin was super fun and it was great chatting with him. We had dinner once here and the food was decent; my wife had a Caesar salad that was okay overall and my turkey club was good, not great. I'd say this is a fun bar and I would come here again for drinks if I was staying at the Hilton again, but I would probably grab dinner elsewhere as there's several good restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.

OK--I know this is a hotel bar. Only jumped in here once for dessert and drinks around 10:30. We found a corner booth and waited. When the harried waiter finally appeared, he told us he had to RUN to the kitchen with our order b/c the kitchen was closing. Then we waited. He returned for our drink order--2 rum punches, 1 Mai Tai, and one club soda with lime. Again we waited. The punches and the Mai Tai came out and looked EXACTLY the same. After tasting, we decided they were the same. Desserts came. The Toffee Pudding is amazing. They were out of the Pumpkin bread pudding which I wanted to try. The cheesecake was a huge portion. The ice cream was liquid by the time it was delivered. Know that cocktails here are $16+. OK for nightcaps before you head to your room.

Service was fast, but the bread to my sandwich was hard and meh. The soda was flat, but overall it was okay.

I was at the Hilton in Washington DC for a conference. I kept hearing rave reviews about this restaurant. So, I decided to stop by on my last evening there. I was impressed. I got a pizza and it was quite delicious. It was much more than I could eat by myself. The server was excellent. I was well taken care of. I had a certificate for a complimentary beverage, and it was also very delicious. With regard to all of the restaurants in the building, this was by far the best of them.

It's really a 3+ for me, but I only passed by for a quick bite at the bar so didn't really get a chance to experience all the food. But the bartender kind and attentive. And the chicken nachos, although a little pricey (it is a bar on a hotel so that's how prices always are), were full of flavor and a little kick. Very saucy! Fair warning - NOT shredded cheese.

Fish and Chips with tartar sauce and coleslaw
    Salma M.

We stopped in here for dinner on our only night in this Hilton and got great service by Francescus. We got a variety of things starting off with the Crab Chowder that came with chips, this was delicious (would order again). Next up we got our entrees: the caesar salad was good, the medium steak was okay, and the burger was just meh. The fish and chips were pretty good, the tartar sauce was great but the coleslaw wasn't it. Honestly I was hoping for a redeeming mac&cheese, I didn't get it but they say it changes everyday! Go in, get the crab chowder, the fish and chips and a salad! Our service was great, and we had fun while there!

    Seared salmon

Superior than a regular hotel bar. I ate here because of a conference at the hotel, it was too cold to go somewhere else outside. I did not have any alcohol, my review is limited to the food. The bar has a nice vibe, it was mostly empty in the afternoon. Actually, the restaurant (Four Oaks) in the same hotel was not serving at that time, hence they suggested me to try here instead. I had seared salmon, it wasn't spectacular, but it was above mediocre. Looks like a decent place if you're already there, perhaps more preferable for drinks. I would go out and explore the Dupont Circle instead, there are better options outside.

    Fish and chips
    David B.

Ordered the fish and chips. Fish was fantastic. Flaky and well cooked. Fries had good flavor but are nothing to get too excited about. Atmosphere was okay, and service was fair. A little slow...but I would certainly come again.

I typically don't write reviews but our experience was awful & the owners should be aware. On a slow Monday night, we encountered the WORST bartender ever!! Before our group even sat down he made it clear "groups" were unwelcome. There were 8 of us visiting for a conference. We've been to this bar in years past & never had an issue. Whoever they had working on 2/12/24 needs to find a new job because he's running customers away & ruining this business.

The food specials ended at 7 while the drink specials continued until 8, so I was a little bummed to miss out on that. One thing to note if you're ordering food, the four cheese pizza comes with burrata, which I didn't realize ahead of time. I'd definitely come back to try more of the food, especially the flatbreads since they seem to have a lot of good options. That said, I don't think the staff was fully prepared for the size of our group. My friend brought around 60 people on a Friday night, and it was clear the servers were overwhelmed. At times, it took over 10 minutes just to place an order. I don't necessarily think that's the norm, so I'd be open to coming back during a regular happy hour to get a better feel for the service. Great size bar as well.

Atmosphere was really chill. I liked the dim lighting, everyone was casual and relaxed with a dj setting up in the corner, some hip hop and classic 00s rap bumping, and a steady flow of young-ish friend groups coming in for cheap beer around 5pm. I tried not to evesdrop on the couple next to me at the bar arguing, but their fight sort of added to the entertainment and general vibe. Today for the Norway / England quarter finals game the line was wrapped around the building over an hour before the game. We were in line at 3:45pm. I've been to Franklin hall before I know how big it is and it's even bigger if they open up the second space. I didn't think we would have any problem getting in. 4:45pm comes around and we start hearing from other people that they're at capacity. My husband went up and they were giving very unclear answers. Apparently they had a party for the embassy of Norway, I'm not sure how much space that was taking. I think they could've announced to the long line that had been waiting over an hour that they were at capacity. It ended up being a rush to find alternative bars to watch the game. Dear reader,…read more Whitlow's at the Wharf is a fantastic addition to the waterfront and an excellent spot when you want good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere without taking things terribly seriously. The space is huge, with tons of seating, an enormous bar, outdoor areas, and seemingly enough TVs to ensure no sporting event goes unwatched. The food is solid, proper bar fare, with burgers, wings, nachos, and plenty of shareable options. Reviews regularly praise the burgers, nachos, crab dip, and welcoming staff, and the overall vibe is exactly what you want from a bustling neighbourhood watering hole. It can get VERY busy, particularly during games, weekends, and events at The Wharf. Service may understandably slow down a bit when the entire population of Southwest DC appears to have arrived simultaneously, but we have always found the food and atmosphere worth the wait. The waterfront location is another major point in its favour. There are great views, plenty of people-watching, and you are right in the middle of everything happening at The Wharf. It is particularly convenient before or after a show at The Anthem. Overall, Whitlow's is fun, energetic, casual, and reliably enjoyable.
