Chicken nachos

We came here for a comedy show. The tickets said a 2 order minimum was required per patron, but honestly after seeing the limited menu (as well as the prices) I was second guessing my decision to come to the show. The food did take an incredibly long time to come out. At first I thought maybe it's because the show had started expect them other patrons were still getting their drinks. When intermission came I asked our server about the food and she looked confused and asked what we'd ordered. She checked the machine and I don't know if the order hadn't been inputted or what but we finally got our food. It wasn't anything impressive and seemed very standard for bar food; larger servings, cheap ingredients, and a lingering unpleasant feel after eating. While I wouldn't come here for the food I did enjoy the comedy show..maybe next time I'll just order two overpriced sodas and call it good. What we got: Chicken Nachos - 3* average large helping of bar nachos. I did think the chicken was really good and moist. The cheese was standard squirt-y nacho cheese. The jalapenos added a nice touch of spice. I will say I appreciated how they had colorful chips. Pork Bratwurst - 3.5* I actually enjoyed this. The bratwurst had a good flavor and the pretzel bun was very good. I didn't like the large portion of fries and how it didn't come with any dipping sauces.

So this is kind of a mixed review being that I attended a Hamilton lecture put on by Profs and Pints which I highly recommend. The lecturer is Dr. Richard Bell, a history professor at my alma mater, UMCP. The lecture is 5 stars all the way. As for the location that's more a 3 star review. It's a dive bar in Dupont that has a minimum of 2 items per order. Inside it is so darkly lit that you will have trouble reading the menu. The food menu is small and basic bar food items like wings, burgers, and fries. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was huge and came with waffle fries. It was tasty but was lukewarm in temperature not hot. As far the beer, they were out of some selections but the orange flavored vodka drink I had was nicely tart and sweet. Overall, I would come back for another show either by Profs and Pints or DC Comedy Loft which also host events here.

Love that this place feels like an establishment straight out of Harry Potter. It is a bit odd as you walk in and the place looks like apartments and a student dorm bouncer checks your id. Once inside, it is a neat bar! They have trivia nights that are a lot of fun. The bigger the group the better odds you have of knowing the questions, more brains. The food is good. The service is decent. The overall vibe is fun! My favorite parts were the trivia and atmosphere.

Black Friday Goose Island Tap Takeover Menu

Fantastic service downstairs for the Bourbon County tap takeover. Couldn't beleive there were not more poeple there to enjoy this unique event. Nowhere else that I am aware of in the DC region even attempts to match the Bourbon County Black Friday event. I had not been to this venue since it was the Brickskeller maybe 25 years ago, but will definitely be back based on our experience tonight.

I came here for the first tome for a comedy show to see David Arnold. The show was amazing. I laughed the entire time. I liked the low key vibe of this place. I ordered boneless wings, fries, and a cranberry vodka. The food was good and the drink was good and strong. My reasoning for 3 stars was that the service was extremely slow. It took time to see our waitress where we had to ask someone else for things. Service definitely needs to improve since they have a 2 item purchase requirement.

Went to go see Kvon the only Persian comedian in the United States. He is such a creative, and humbled comedian who knows how to make people of all color really laugh. I believe that he is next after Kevin Hart on the list. My favorite Kvon slogan is..."Once you go Persian you don't need another version." Other than the comedy the food at this place is ok, but not the best. Could be top notch if they change a few things, and don't unfreeze the chicken wings, but the waiting service was on point. The fact that they acknowledge active duty military and veterans made my evening. So please be sure to leave a reasonable tip for the 50% off discount they offer. That's more than enough. They need to hire some Latin loving monkey-pigeon comedians that really know how to make people laugh and are also Persian. Just my thoughts! I'd pay to go see them.

$18 for 2 Bubba Burgers from Costco and Kraft Singles slapped on a bun. Hard pass. Beer list was good. Way overpriced for the quality.

This place is fantastic! We sat at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere, beautiful bar…read more I appreciate the hooks under the bar to hang your purse or bags. Thank you for having that. It's a detail that many bars forget but I can relax and enjoy my stay more when I know my belongings are safely tucked away. We got the Smorgesboard and Saffron Mussels. Both were EXCELLENT. The Mister got a few beers. The Smorgesboard had every charcuterie option and it was really fun building the perfect bite. I thought it was absolutely worth the price. I've paid more for less. Let me take a moment and collect myself before I talk about the Saffron Mussels. They were freaking amazing. The broth was mildly spicy, a powerful punch of salty herby flavor that paired wonderfully with the mussels. They were perfectly cooked with a tender chew. Served with fries and chunks of bread to sop up all that glorious broth. If you're thinking about getting the mussels, just do it. Truly, one of the best pot of mussels I've had. We are just visiting the area, but I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town. What a delightful surprise to find this place.

There were still seats at the downstairs bar too. I went for a cocktail off their full menu not featured on happy hour - the tricky tripel, and it was delicious! The bartender did a great job explaining the tasting notes of all the drinks and helped me choose a good one. I also sipped the Belgian sour many of my friends opted for and that's a great cocktail for just $6 during happy hour. Happy hour is tricky -- it's really a great deal making it difficult to justify paying full price for anything but the crowd here is two folds. You have a lot of young college kids mixed with an older crowd so one comes for the deals while the other comes for amazing food and cocktails -- something for everyone! Overall I would definitely come back for dinner. This place has a very lowkey casual vibe but upscale food and drinks. The atmosphere/ambiance leaves a little to be desired with not so great lighting and no background music that I can recall but still a nice spot to pop in.

Great local bar with large rotating craft beer selection. Highly recommend for any beer…read moreenthusiast. They have wine and cocktails as well. They are happy to recommend beer for your taste, and let you sample. It can be very busy and difficult to get a seat at the bar or get a table on a Friday or Saturday evening. We ordered food, and were expecting elevated bar food. The tater tots were a huge disappointment- they were very large squares , bland, and not crispy. The wings were okay. The cheeseburgers were the best- from the restaurant downstairs- mallard. Huge burger, done perfectly medium.

I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. This place has earned its reputation as one of the best beer bars on the East Coast -- and then some. Highly recommend making a full night of it with both floors. You won't regret it. Not to be confused with Free State Distillery in Upper Marlboro (though many also call it Arthur…read moreWheeler Spirits haha), this place is located just off of the main street in chinatown, and it's surprisingly lowkey. It's a basement bar with a bit of a dive vibe, but it's hard to ignore the nautical, blue crab theme throughout. Turns out that one of the owners is a Marylander, which is cool to see reflected in the decor in a place in dc, even though it is next door. They have a happy hour and they have a great variety of drinks in general. It's bring-your-own-food (BYOF) and there are a bunch of delicious looking Asian spots nearby, including upstairs. It didn't start getting crowded until closer to 10, which, as I said, is surprising for this part of town to me. Everywhere in Chinatown is not going to be packed and busy, and this place is here to remind you of that. Stop by if you're looking for a more chill vibe. Staff are pretty cool.
