My husband and I were in whistler for a few days for our honeymoon and went to blacks for lunch after he had been on the slopes. We sat upstairs and had a super friendly waitress and bartender, the restaurant was also warm during the winter so that was great. I ordered the potato bacon pizza which was so good! I never had a pizza with potatoes on it but now I wonder why I've never seen one cuz it's so good. Beautiful view of the slopes and also decent pricing. If we were to travel back to whistler (which I hope we do) I would come back to this place. read more

This was my first stop in Whistler! Upon entering I immediately noticed that the atmosphere was somewhat subdued and not too crazy. However, I then went upstairs and saw that's where the party's at! Bar was packed, all the tables were taken, and the wait staff was bustling. The Whistler Lager was tapped out (bummer), but they had many other great selections to choose from. Very Pleasant With The Best Wings in Town!!! Blacks pub located near the based of whistler village gondola. The first thing I noticed about blacks was it's well signed and labeled social distancing protocols. Also it's out door patio extension. On entry to Blacks Pub after being welcomed by super friendly staff. I had to give me name and number as another protocol. When walked and seated to my table they explained the covid house rule .. ( stay at your table, no more then 6 people etc etc ) The staff explains to me that if I would like to see the menus I would have to scan to the Qr barcode. Displayed on the table. Shortly after the returned with water and to take my order meanwhile always engaging in warm light friendly convo. Now Down To The Wings!!! I ordered a pound of wings which was reasonably price. The waitress brought over and the portion was bigger then expecting. The wings was fresh hot, crispy and not refired. SEASONING!!! Was so good even though I only had salt n pepper wings other flavors available lol . The wings was coated light flour coated instead of bread crumbs what I prefer but the hint of curry powder in the seasoning that gives you that sweet and savory Ou-Mami taste sensation. Wow !!! They have a good sized patios with heaters and this was especially great for us since we had my friend's dog with us. We ordered hot chocolate, chicken wings in BBQ and soy sauce and fries. The fries were crispy and generously salted. Yummy! The BBQ chicken wings were smokey and soy sauce with garlic? or honey? was preferred by us over the BBQ ones. The server was quick, attentive and chatty. She came by to refill our glasses and take additional drink orders. You can get cheaper beer in Whistler, but being stumbling distance from the Excalibur gondola, you can't beat the view. Typical pub. We were there in a very busy weekend and service wasn't the best. Pretty slow and every time we needed something all the waitresses would say "okay I'll get your waitress" and it would take forever for her to come. We really liked this place. We went in on Sunday night to watch the Fire and Ice show from the bar. We actually made a reservation, but they only take them for downstairs, and the better view is from up, but they told us to just look for something upstairs and let them know, no worries. That was cool. We had already been in for a little Apres the other day, just drinks. The food looked amazing, large portions. We had a couple of appetizers, everything was great. The manager or maybe asst mgr was working and was very talkative and friendly, everything was spot on. We will return next year. read more

Pizza was cold by the time the second drinks were delivered. - Others who sat down got up and left due to no staff coming by to take their order after 15 minutes. - Mixed drinks were way too small for their price. - The view wasn't great due to untrimmed trees blocking the view of the mountain. Came here for apres recently. Everything was fine up until we asked for the check. 20 minutes go by and our waitress is nowhere to be seen. Our table is being bussed and the hostess is asking to take our extra chairs for another table (we got the idea that they wanted us to leave). We asked the lady bussing our table to track down our bill because we had been waiting for a long time. It was only then that it was explained that their system was down and they could not pull up any bills. After another 10 minutes, I went inside, tracked down our waitress and asked for the bill. She asked what we ordered and calculated our tab manually. We couldn't pay by card because of their system, so we had to run to an ATM just to cover our tab. Other parties had come inside irate as well waiting to settle their tab. All the while, other parties were still being seated and served. It took over 45 minutes just to get the bill after we asked for it. While I realize that a system failure is not planned, there could have been a lot of things that could have been done differently. They should of had a plan in place and somebody should have at least come out to apologize, explain the situation, and offered us a drink on the house or something while they sorted things out. Management was nowhere to be seen and owner never responded to complaint by e-mail. Terrible service here. read more

What can you say about Whistler - good friends and good fun? Who knew Easter weekend would be a winter wonderland in this place. After a long and funfilled day on the slopes, Longhorn was jam packed so we decided to check out Black's... downstairs. Beer was our ultimate goal coming down our last run and we made it!.. unfortunately, the beer didn't make it because they do not carry Guiness downstairs. Upstairs they do - I am not sure why so I ordered Granville Island Honey lager instead. Being super hungry, we all decided to share the nachos with chicken. Service was quick and the nachos came out in a large platter... however, I always believe that a good plate of nachos should have proper cheese and chip layering, which was not seen here. Toppings seem plenty, but then again, there were not that many pieces of chicken. The disk comes with sour cream and salsa, and asking for extra salsa, we were not informed that it was could a whole $3 extra. When the bill came, the nachos totalled to $25, which you can probably find for $15 in a Vancouver pub... pricey yes, and sharing with friends made the tab a lot smaller... however... it can seem like one huge rip off in the end. read more

The place looked a bit sketchy, dirty and unkept but we were enticed by the patio and location. Four of us ordered burgers that came out over cooked on stale cold buns. No lettuce or tomato, their "special sauce" was a teaspoon of coleslaw and that's all you get. I'm pretty sure the patties are pre-cooked and just sit on the back grill until some sucker places an order. To be fair the french fries and my cocktail met expectations. Clearly, apathy exists throughout the organization from the chef who orders the cheapest low-grade food on the market and doesn't care how it is prepared or presented, to the manager who doesn't care if the place is clean, furnishings are operative, or the staff is attentive. Went here after spending a day in Whistler Village. From here, we were able to watch a big air competition, and enjoy being among a crowd of people. I was there with a group of four, and we all had a pint of Granville Island Pale ale, which was good. The food was also good. We tried a pepperoni pizza, which was excellent and very flavourful; the lobster ravioli which was just the right size and very delicious; and a plate of yam fries. Came here today with my husband and ordered a Roasted Squash and Chorizo pizza and a Chicken Pot Pie (which came with a salad). 14" pizza was more than enough to feed the both of us. Chicken pot pie had huge chicken chunks in it and it was not too salty. Pizza was unique and delicious as well. Only complaint was the service was a bit slow, my husband had to ask twice for napkins and a refill of his hot water.It didn't seem like they were understaffed so not sure why it also took a while to get our check.Recommend the food but be prepared for slower service. read more

This was the first bar I went to in Whistler last year. They didn't have a person to ID you at the door. My friends and I got flaming shots where they light shots of 151 in shot glasses and tip them over into beer. Before the bartender tipped them over, he said, "this might go horribly wrong." Blew into Whistler in a snowstorm! Checked into the hotel, and then walked the village, looking for a place to grub. Was pretty hungry, so wasn't gonna spend too much time. Black's Pub looked pretty nice & comfy. I read the menu outside the door and was sold. Service was quick and friendly. Sat in the dining room next to the window, so that we could watch the now come down and people watch. There was also a raucous bar upstairs. My wife has a pretty non-adventurous palate, so she had the pizza. I had the braised lamb shank and one of their winter beers. The beer was too sweet. Reminded me of the chocolate cokes I used to get at Farrell's when I was a kid. My next one was their pale ale and it hit the spot. The lamb shank was delicious, but not much too it. Even with the accompanying mashed purple mashed potatoes and sliced carrots. Thank god that my wife has a small stomach to accompany her non-adventurous palate, because I snagged a couple pieces of her pizza! read more

(Not a bad thing) their muscles were pretty good but the tables were really shabby. The tables on their patio were so wobbly our drinks almost fell over. Plus they put us on a down hill slope. This place was brutal. When I sat in my seat the cushion deflated and the chair nearly broke (I am 5'4, 120lbs). The table rocked from side to side so bad our food was falling on the floor. My husband had a $19 burger and he said, "this tastes like food poisoning". The whole time we were eating we could overhear the manager knocking the restaurant. We heard him say "What this place really needs is an insurance fire" and "they renovated this place and this is the best they could do?", he clearly hated his own restaurant. Brutal. 7 of us headed down to the village form pizza after a full day of mountain biking. The place wasn't busy and the hostess was decent enough to clean the only table close to the bar that wasn't under spotlights for us. Our server started out ok but was slow (really slow) getting water to the table and then didn't come back for a drink order for 10 minutes. We ordered drinks and meals and another 15 minutes before drinks showed up. Dinner. Ha. We ordered 7 pizzas and some dude came out and told us that their ovens couldn't handle 7 pizzas so they would have to serve a few at a time. Seriously? 7 pizzas crippled your kitchen at Whistler? Then the pizzas start showing up and they're wrong. Wrong topping. Random toppings. Back they went into the oblivion of the kitchen. Meanwhile we ant share because no plates. Our server seemed stressed but when I suggested they comp us some drinks it was pretty clear that wast going to happen. She said it was her mistake but that doesn't seem likely. Elapsed time for dinner, 3+ hours. The table of 5 women next to us also leaned over and inquired if we had received any food because they hadn't seen much expect one double order of the wrong pasta. So two massive messed up tables of 13 customers and not once did the manager come out and take responsibility. Oh, and the food was just ok. Amazeballs. Find another place to eat in the village. Great servers and bartenders, they were super friendly- sat with me after work to tell me about the local spots in Whistler. Service was efficient, and the place was nice, but not *too* nice/fancy. We sat upstairs, and grabbed a window table. The best part of our brief visit here, though, was my absolutely delicious martini- definitely the best dirty martini I've ever tasted. Kids review: best french fries ever. They put curry salt on them. Burger was awesome (comes with sautéed onions, mayo, tomato and lettuce - order on the side for kids). Fish and chips also a favorite. Parents review: don't bother with the kids menu. It's full of garbage not worthy of consumption. Plus it's expensive. Service was really good. Ambience is better upstairs which we found out after we were already seated downstairs. Limited beer menu downstairs but they can get anything you want from upstairs like a Guiness draft. read more

Let me start off by saying that the lemon pepper wings we had here were just about the best wings we've ever had (and may ever have... Seriously they were that good!). They were perfectly crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Seasoning was perfect! So why the 3 star review? Well the rest of our meal was mediocre to poor. I had the pizza... It was meh. Another in our party had the fish and chips and was really disappointed with it. Another had a curry chicken salad which was also boring and had tons of green peas which was odd and not a tasty combo. Finally another person had the bison ribs... We were really expecting them to be great but they were inexplicably smothered in a super sweet sauce that overpowered them and made them difficult to eat.
