I wish I had never purchased my Jeep from Blackstar Offroad. Within just one year of ownership, I was hit with thousands of dollars in repairs that no buyer should reasonably expect so soon after purchasing a vehicle. Since buying the Jeep, I've had to replace the left and right cylinder head gasket, thermostat, water pump, water pump gasket, oil cooler assembly, spark plugs, and battery clamps. The vehicle developed persistent engine stalling issues, misfires, coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, and transmission-related problems. I was later informed of transmission fault code P0732, indicating potential transmission failure, and have also had to investigate replacing the crankshaft position sensor in an attempt to keep the vehicle running properly. I understand that used vehicles can require maintenance, but the extent and severity of these repairs after only one year have been extremely disappointing. I trusted Blackstar Offroad to sell a reliable vehicle, and instead I've spent a significant amount of time, stress, and money (thousands) dealing with major mechanical failures. I'm not writing this review out of spite. I'm sharing my experience in hopes that future customers can make a more informed decision than I did. Please do your homework, have any vehicle independently inspected before purchasing, and make sure you're prepared for the possibility of unexpected repair costs. Based on my experience, I would not purchase another vehicle from Blackstar Offroad. I was truly excited and worked hard to make the purchase but the financial stress and emotional burden of not having my vehicle while it was going through multiple shops to confirm and execute the repairs was definitely not worth it - I definitely learned my lesson not bringing a mechanic with me to inspect the vehicle before the purchase. My parents recently sold me their 2004 Jeep Wrangler. They kept it mostly stock, only adding modifications for RVing. I knew the first thing I wanted to do was make it look like a Jeep. I hit the forums and found that I could add 31' inch tires without a lift. Then I searched local areas that performed mods. Blackstar Offroad's name stuck out to me as I had driven past it before. Their gorgeous Jeeps in front of their business had drawn in my attention. I read a bunch of reviews, along with the responses from the owner and decided I would go in to ask questions. However, I failed to read that they only work on JK and JL Wranglers. I went in and was enamoured with all the amazing Jeeps they had for sale. I was greeted by an employee who informed me that they no longer work on TJ's. As I was getting ready to walk out, Tim walked out of an office and asked me what type of mods I needed. I explained that I only wants bigger tires with wheels. He quickly said they could do it. He followed me out to my Jeep and we shared stories. He told me he just bought one for his daughter and was fixing it up for her. He gave me a ton of advice and listened to what I wanted. He gave a recommendation to do a small lift due to potential rubbing and being unleveled. He obviously knows more than me so I agreed and was excited for the project. He emailed me the same day with links to different options. By the following day, we were a go and the parts were on order. I literally had just had it with the dealerships , not only for the ridiculous mark ups but the customer service has become less then zero stars. Rubicon Express lift shocks were installed in an extremely visually displeasing way. Functionally fine, aesthetically far from it. Also when getting my vehicle aligned after a part install, the number sheet was way off and the breather hose wasn't even re-connected. I went to another local shop and got everything fixed instead of coming back because I had a long drive the next day and the vehicle was far from fine. Like I said, nice team but the attention to detail on my vehicle was really missing.
